《DK (Dropped)》Chapter XXI - First Army Formations

Once again, with a tiny earthquake, I rose to the surface.
Standing on my front, waiting for me, was Caesar, ready to greet me with a bow.
"Great DK, good morning!" (Caesar)
"Good morning." (DK)"Where are the others?"
"Leonidas left early, Ragnar just went outside, to train with the warriors and some of our young wasps while we waited for you and our queen is still resting." (Caesar)
"Very well, go to them, bring Ragnar and the warriors to me, but leave two of them to help train the young wasps!"
Caesar walked outside as I told him, leaving me alone on the Great Hall.
"No guards? I guess this counts as guarding for them when you are just outside training" (DK)
(Assuming that five warriors are hunting and two are helping with training, there should be twenty wasp warriors at my disposal!) The thought of having such small army gave me a happy feeling.
Then the twenty wasps arrived following Ragnar and Caesar.
Before they could reach me, I walked to the left side of the Great Hall.
Following my action, instead of gathering on the middle, the wasp group surrounded me, forming one half of a circle.
(Ah! Great timing!) At this moment, one wasp entered the Great Hall carrying a group of bunnies.
"You! Please give me a bunny." I asked the young wasp.
Surprised at first, the young wasp stood still for an extra second and then flied over to me, giving what I requested.
"Thank you, you may go now!" I told him.
With a bow, the wasp left and headed upstairs.
As I looked at Caesar and before I asked him again for his sword, he recalled what happened a few days ago and promptly handed me the sword.
"White God! I suppose you need this!" (Caesar)
"Yes, please pay attention, everything that I draw on this wall, is something that every wasp general and warrior should know about!" (DK)
The entire group sat on the ground, remaining silent.

(So, how should I form the wasp military?) I thought while staring at the wall, ready to draw.
"For now I will teach you only the basics!" (DK)
I draw one small rectangle, with four dots forming a line inside of it.
"This is a squad!" (DK) "It will be made of four warriors who will work together as a team to defeat the enemy!"
I paused for a second, then drew a larger rectangle that was almost a square, to the right side of my previous drawing, it had five lines of four dots inside of the que square.
"This is a platoon! They are a group of wasp squads designed to fight enemy groups!" (DK)
Below my previous drawings, I drew several dots in several positions.
The first one was a horizontal line of four dots, the second one was the same four dots but they formed a square, the third had the dots sticked together wich made it look like the number 88.
These were two basic formations and one type of attack movement.
"Now, I want you warriors, to make groups of four!" (DK)
As they made the groups, Ragnar asked me. "What about us?"
"For now just look, listen and learn." (DK)
"It seems the groups are made, now, I want each squad to form a horizontal line towards me! Now!" I ordered them with a shout.
After a few seconds, the squads had made a line, but these lines were not in sync.
"What you are doing right now, is a squad line formation!" I informed as I pointed to the first formation drawing.
"Good!" (DK) "But now I want it in a normal platoon formation! So now, one squad will stay on the line in my front, while the other ones will go behind them forming a rectangle!" I commanded them.
It took a minute, but finally the platoon formation was made.
The twenty wasps, made five horizontal lines of four wasps. all lined up, perfectly together, wich was the same as saying it was 4 vertical lines of five wasps.

"Excellent! That is the normal platoon formation, if you are ordered, you will always walk and fight on that position, is that clear?" (DK)
"Yes! White God!" With a great shout the twenty warriors replied.
"Now I will teach you the squad square formation!" (DK) "I want the first squad to take a step forward!"
The four warriors took one step forward, still keeping their line.
"The warriors on the sides of the squad will now get behind on the ones in the middle!" I informed the warriors and with haste, they formed a square squad formation.
"That is the square squad formation, while the two on the front fight, those in the back will be there for support, if the ones on the front get tired, they switch lines with those in the back!" (DK) "Once I say switch, those in the back will change position with those in the front, I ask that those in the front use their wings to fly backwards! Ready? Switch!" I shouted as I commanded then.
And so the two wasps in the front flew up backwards while the two in the back took a step forward.
"Now I want the four squads in the back, to do the same, but to line up with the first squad on both sides!" (DK)
This time, they performed better, the four squads lined up, two on the right, two on the left and with the first one on the middle in seconds.
"What you are doing now, is a square platoon formation!" (DK) "Now please, take three steps backwards!"
I heard three great sounds, the steps that the wasps made at the same time, in sync, was like a troop march.
"Now I will ask you to do the wasp attack!" (DK) "The warriors on the front will stay still, holding their grounds, while the second line flies from above and dives in to the front."
The warriors stood still as I and the Generals watched them.
"Wasp attack!" I commanded the warriors with a shout.
Suddenly, the second line flied over, rushing in from above with all their speed to the front.
"When you do a wasp attack, if there is an enemy on the front, you will aim fast and kill him with this move!" (DK) "Do not forget! The line formation, square formation and wasp attack! That's all that I ask you for now!"
(This is what I need them to know so I can win against that Arach group)
"Also remember to do these formations when a general tells you to!" (DK) "Any questions?"
"If I may ask, when do we use these formations?" (Ragnar)
"Yes, I don't think its worth knowing all this information if we don't know how and when to use it!" (Caesar)
I stared at them as everyone in the room was waiting for my answer.
"You wont learn everything about this in a single day, I will explain better to you Generals once Leonidas returns with more wooden spears." (DK)
"What do we do until they return then?" (Caesar)
"I will simply sit and wait, add these formations to your training, go outside and keep training!" (Dk)
The two Generals confirmed their orders with a nod and the 20 warriors bowed before going outside for training while I sat down in my usual place.
(I hope that Leonidas brings enough spears, I need at least 80 of them!)
"Still no movement? Uh, good." I mumbled while seeing the shadow minion's eyes.
The shadow minion was still monitoring the Arach group, but they were either sleeping, eating leftovers or playing around.
With the exception of a few young wasps coming and going with bunny stacks, there was full peace in the Hall.
I wondered if this was what people call "the calm before the storm".

Gaia Ark
Commander Coop, a four-armed, power-armored, super-soldier, undertakes a mission to assassinate the head of a religious cult bent on destroying the UPSF and everyone they protect. But no mission is ever that simple. GAIA ARK is an action adventure hero's journey featuring a cranky cyborg, vampiric sword, alien monsters, and enough self-discovery to provide a character arc. It's a little rough around the edges, a little crude. I started writing this story on November 2, 2018. This story is mid-composition. Please expect clunky prose, notes [in brackets], and incomplete...
