《The Strength of Duality (Newly Edited)》Gratitude

Feng Bao then said with a smile “Alright, it is good to be so strong willed, especially when you have the strength to back it up. Now that that is over, my clan would like to thank you for saving Mei’er at a celebratory banquet. Is that fine with you?”
Like usual Yun Tian looked at Shen Yu for her opinion. She shrugged and said “It could be fun Dage.”
By now there was a large audience of elders and other clan members gathered around. They were all shocked and were looking at Yun Tian as if he was a monster.
Feng Bao said his words quite loudly and when they heard it, one of the elders asked “Clan leader, is this young man the one who saved the young Miss.”
At that, Feng Bao yelled for everyone to hear “Yes this man is named Li Hao and he is the one who saved my Mei’er. By his side is his sister Li Yu. Everyone is to treat them with great respect. We shall have a celebratory banquet in their honor now. Elders gather in the hall.”
Hearing his words everyone in the clan instantly looked more respectful and grateful when they looked at Yun Tian. They already had respect for his strength, but their respect came from gratitude rather than just his power.
Yun Tian saw how they truly cared for Feng Mei. He realized this clan was nothing like the Yun clan. This made Yun Tian smile and think ‘Why couldn’t the Yun clan be like them and care so much for each other.’
No one left immediately as they were still looking at Yun Tian. Feng Bao therefore repeated himself “Everyone disperse except for the elders and others who will join the banquet.”

With that everyone left to go back to whatever they were doing. A group of Elders and some important younger generation members, including Feng Mei, stayed around though.
After the people dispersed Feng Bao said “Let’s head over to the hall then.”
Yun Tian followed behind Feng Bao who led them into the clan meeting hall. There were many servants within the clan and on the way there, Feng Bao ordered them to prepare a feast for them.
The clan hall was large and there were several large tables. Feng Bao led Yun Tian to the table in the middle where the most important members of the clan sat.
The people who sat at this table were Yun Tian, Shen Yu Feng Bao, Feng Mei, and other important elders.
Once they were seated Feng Bao asked Yun Tian “Do you drink alcohol?”
Hearing this Yun Tian was stumped. He had never drunk any alcohol in his first life nor this one.
Ultimately he decided against drinking any since he wanted to be in his best condition.
“No, I don’t drink.”
Hearing that Feng Bao thought ‘He does seem quite young. His strength made me forget about him looking so young. I wonder how old he actually is?’
Yun Tian certainly did act older than he actually was and the way he looked attributed to him seeming older. His body had constantly been nourished with qi while cultivating and the demonic qi strengthened his body.
He wasn’t overly muscular, but his figure was still very lean and tight. He was also much taller than normal people his age.
Feng Bao then said “Okay that’s fine if you don’t drink.”
“Still, I would like to propose a toast to you as a way of thanks to you for saving my Mei’er.”

Then he said louder so everyone could hear.
“Everyone listen up! This young man, named Li Hao, saved my daughter! Without him, we would not be seeing her here today. I want everyone to join me in a toast as a way of thanks.”
“To Li Hao!”
Everyone repeated “To Li Hao” and then took sips of their drinks.
While this was happening Yun Tian was happy seeing so many people thank him while also slightly flustered.
Shen Yu pinched his arm under the table and teased him “Aren’t you popular now?”
After this happened everyone made small talk and ate the food that was quickly delivered by the servants.
Feng Bao and Feng Mei were the main ones talking to the two of them.
At one point Feng Mei asked “If you don’t mind, may I ask where you are from?”
At this everyone perked up. They couldn’t help, but wonder what kind of place could produce such a genius as Yun Tian.
It is unfortunate that Yun Tian only said “I come from humble origins in a unimportant town. It is just the two of us now.”
Part of what he said was true, but no one believed what he said. None of them believed he didn’t come from some great force that nurtured him. Otherwise how could he get so strong. Since he didn’t say that though, no one asked about it again.
They made small talk and quickly the meal ended.
Afterwards Feng Bao invited them back to his house to talk about some things. That was what Yun Tian wanted too, so he followed along.
Feng Mei, Feng Bao, Yun TIan, and Shen Yu were all sitting on couches and chairs in Feng Bao’s house.
Feng Bao started the conversation “First of all, I still plan to give you a reward for saving my daughter. Is there anything you want in particular?”
This is what interested Yun Tian the most so hearing this he said “Yes, earlier your fist skill was of mid spirit grade at least right? I was looking for some swords and skills of at least mid grade. If it’s too much to give as a reward, I also have some skills and swords of low spirit grade to trade or sell.”
Hearing this Feng Bao thought for a moment ‘Does he truly have no backer?’
He decided not to dwell on it and said “What kind of skill are you looking for?”
Immediately Yun Tian said “A sword skill.”
While he may have the deadly flash and flowing stream sword style skills, both of them were of the low spirit grade. With his talent he may be able to improve them if he spends enough time, but it was certainly faster to find better skills to learn from.

The Sun's Remnant
Two people are transported to a world with magic, but it is no Wonderland. When the god of light died, he decided to take the world with him. At least, that’s what many believe in the Kingdom of Rhine, a once vast kingdom of which only a small corner remains — and even that is threatened. On one side, by the Twisted Forest, a corruption spreading from the deathplace of the gods that has already swallowed up most of Rhine. On the other, by the resurgent Kagrathan Empire, resurrected by the infallible God-Emperor Karlatz. A holy order of knights carry out their mission despite the death of their god. A band of talented misfits prepare for a heist out of their league — by stealing. Mages hunt for secrets even as the world ends. A ruler does what must be done to save the living, no matter the cost. Into this world of magic and murder, two adrift souls are inexplicably dragged: a mother estranged from her young daughter due to her own mistakes, and a young man with a love of fantasy who has gradually drifted away from his friends and family. As they each struggle to find their place in this world, they must also answer the question: do they want one?***Content Warning: I've drafted about 100,000 words (most of the first volume), and there is no sexual content so far, though I may add it in the future. There is occasionally gore and traumatising content as the story demands. I commit to keeping all of the above non-voyeuristic. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
