《PERCEPTION (A New Begining)》46. Catastrophic

Finally!
The water ran down my face, covering my body in the room temperature water. It quickly began to grow colder. I don’t give a shit how cold it gets, I’m going to enjoy this.
Finishing my shower I made my way to the cafeteria.
Now that I think about it why was Wayne’s door shut? Every time I’ve left my room the door stays open until I come back.
Maybe once you get the freedom to leave whenever you want you're able to shut your door without it locking. That’s got to be it.
I arrived late to the cafeteria so everyone was already seated. The second I step into the large room everyone’s eyes found me and wasn’t going to let me go.
As expected, my little show did what it was supposed to do, or rather the opposite. I had initially planned to make myself seem so weak no one would even bother with me. But I ended up getting carried away and now they see me as a possible threat.
Even the staff serving me food is giving me some weird looks. I wonder how much of my past they know about.
I sit down at the one completely empty table in the room.
Not here either, huh. Where could he be? I mean I don’t care where he is, I’m simply curious. He doesn’t have anything else to do.
Oh, god! What does this guy want?
As I ate someone was making their way over to my table. He grabbed a seat spinning it around and sitting down on it backward. I stared at the guy with one eyebrow high, “Yes?”
“I’ve been waiting to talk to you, I saw the vid of your match with Red.”
“O-kay?”
“I’m fast too! We should have a match!”

Son of a BITCH! I just got out and they are already wanting a piece of me again?
I look up to my right, shaking my head to try and keep calm.
“Oh, no. Don’t get the wrong idea, I’ll only do a match if it’s mutual. Not all of us are like Red.”
“I appreciate that I guess. When I want my next match I’ll come to you first.”
“Thanks, so when will that be?”
“Listen I just got out. I’m not really ready to do another match yet. I just need a little time to myself.”
I hope he buys that. The last thing I want to do right now is make him challenge me and then risk the chance of getting disqualified and locked up again.
I need to talk to Wayne so I can learn all the rules before I fight someone again.
“Awe man! Well, I guess I can wait. With everything that happened to you with Red and then what happened to Wayne it makes sense. Don’t take too long though.” He stands up and puts the chair back under the table
“Wait, what do you mean? What happened to Wayne?”
He looks at me with a smile on his face, “You don’t know what happened to him? I figured you would be the first to know since you’re a max too.”
“What, happened, to Wayne?”
“Calm down man, he’s in medical. Someone must have messed him up pretty bad too because he’s been in there for over two weeks.”
I stand up, getting close to the guy. “Where is medical?”
“We aren’t allowed to go there.”
Useless!
I walk past the shaggy-haired kid and out of the cafeteria. He was still shouting, “We’re still going to have a match right?”

I ran back to my cell, slinging the door open as I spoke, “BITCH! Let me into medical!”
“(Click)Procedure dictates that we only let the injured into medical. This is for our staff’s safety!”
“You can secure me however you want, I’ll let you strap me down, I don’t give a shit.”
“Even if I were to humor your request. I would never let someone whose power I don’t yet know into that situation.”
“Fine, I’ll cooperate! If I tell you my ability will you let me in?”
“No, I’ll need your cooperation in all aspects.”
“Take it, I’ll give you my full cooperation. Deal?”
“I’ll accept these terms however if you don’t hold up your end, you will be confined until you do so.”
“Fine with me.”
I shuffle into the medical area. My feet were connected by a chain, the chain connected to my hands which were handcuffed around my back. Very plain-looking people filled the room. They were almost hugging the wall, their eyes focused on me. The two agents behind me signaled to the workers. One stepped forward, showing us the way without getting within ten feet of me. We arrived at a room, it didn't have a door but it was mostly sectioned off.
I rush in. Wayne was in a bed, his left arm and leg in a cast, and his whole head was bandaged, including his eyes. Getting within a few feet of him I feel a tug on my chains, followed by my body seizing up.
The. FUCK. is happening?
Pain crawled through my body as I stood, unable to move, I couldn't even take a breath. Then it all left me, I fell to my knees while trying to regain control over my body. Catching my breath I looked behind me and one of the agents had a hand on a chain that was connected to mine.
"Not too close, or I'll drop you again."
The agent looked exactly like all the others, the only difference being his hair. Though it was clearly cut shorter than the others it looked like he had more than normal. That was because his hair was standing straight up.
Standing back up I slowly made my way to Wayne. He was moving his head around as if he was trying to see through his bandages. "Whose there?"
"It's me, Wayne."
"Aw hey man! So she finally let you out of lockup. What are you doing here though? You're not lost are you?"
"No, I'm not lost. I asked that bitch to let me come see you."
"Oh, when did you get out man? I tried to get them to let me out so I could hangout with you but they didn't want me to leave the room. Sorry, I didn't want to leave you alone."
"Why the hell are you worried about me?"
"I can still hear you at night. I figured if--"
I quickly cut him off, "Forget I asked about that. Wayne, what happened to you?"
Wayne moved his casted arm and leg while facing his head towards them, "Nah, this is nothing dude. They said the blindness is only temporary too. So I'll be good as new in no time!"
"Who did this to you Wayne? Why didn't you stop them? I know you could have if you used your ability. Even without knowing what it is, I think it still should have been enough to at least protect yourself!"
"Hahaha, come on dude. I'm not going to kill everybody in this facility just because someone ruffed me up a little bit."
