《I Am The GUIDE》[Vol.1] 0024: Middle Of The Night (5)

"... How will you, carry it?"
"I... I can manage. Just leave it to where you hid it before."
Reece said while avoiding meeting Azure's eyes.
"Are you sure?"
"Of course."
Reece nodded confidently.
He could not let Azure see him with a private dimensional space. No one even knows that thing even exists in this world. So they would probably doubt Reece more if he let it show to anyone that he nonchalantly took out something in space.
"I see. Very well."
"Anyway, what about the other emergency alarms? Did you also manage to dismantle them?"
The alarms that Reece has to block are all hidden even from the warriors. Only the Chief and the elders know of it, that is why Azure naturally did not know of them too.
"Yes, it was unproblematic."
"Really? You did not have any problem at all?"
"Yes...?"
Bluebird Azure was looking at Reece with his head tilted to the left. He looks like he was confused why Reece was asking such questions.
It just means Azure was that confident that there is no need to ask a question.
Reece obviously understood the hidden meaning of Azure's gaze and simply heave a deep sigh.
"Great job."
Although the alarms that most of the birds knew do not use energy, it was still not easy to dismantle them without proper knowledge as it will sound the moment you touch something that will trigger it.
'Without Daniel, I can never do anything on my own.'
So Reece was genuinely saying it to Azure as he was jealous of his high intelligence.
"Anyways, everything is ready."
Azure was still smiling, but he looks rather evil than beautiful.
Reece was more scared of Azure than Hugh but still manage to smile similarly to Azure.
"Then, we only have to wait."
"Yes, we will only wait."
After that, Azure has to go and do his daily job and Reece was left alone again on the tree.
'Daniel, do you still remember my request?'
[Of course.]
'Good. Do not forget it.'
Reece sighs as his eyes fall on the Chief's house. He still has unfinished business to do today.
***
'When...'
Reece's eyes and lips were twitching and both of his hands were shaking too much.
'When will he go and see the Chief!?'
He was frustrated.
It has already been 15 hours that Reece has been observing and following the Acting Chief Redbird Russell to see the Bird Tribe's Chief as well as the 'good' they are trading with the squirrels. However, the redbird did nothing but train and survey the entire tribe for the past 15 hours!
[Reminder. You are too impatient.]

'I am, I know!'
The night still has not shown a sign of showing, so Reece predicted that today's time will get past 20 hours.
'It was supposed to be today!'
[It is.]
'Ugh... so annoying.'
Reece has been grumbling at Daniel for the past 10 hours.
'Hey, can't you just let me see the Chief considering you could see everything from everywhere?'
Daniel can even record Azure and the other's fight with the bear while they are far away from the fight scene. And he was sleeping inside the bag to boot.
[I can see, and I know. However, it will only censor everything you are not supposed to see.]
'Not supposed to see?'
[That is right. I think you are well aware of that.]
'I am...'
He was aware that Daniel could not show and tell him everything unrelated to his job as he was only a Guide. A Guide is only supposed to help the chosen ones, and not try to pry into their and other people's businesses.
However, what does 'not supposed to see' mean? It seems like it has a deeper meaning than Reece originally thought. Or is it really the case?
'Maybe I am simply overthinking?'
He was also that type of person. To overthink things, which is why it is not surprising if it truly is the case.
'Really...?'
As Reece's thoughts were going profound, Daniel was quick to stop and distract him.
[Do not put meaning to everything I say. It was only my choice of words therefore it was my mistake.]
'Hmm... Is that so?'
Reece quickly stops overthinking as he focuses his attention on Russell, who is currently somewhere not too far from the Bird Tribe and is training his sharp feathers and martial arts.
However, similar to Reece, the Acting Chief Redbird Russell's thoughts were also deep as he senses that something is definitely not right.
'I feel like I am being observed.'
He has been feeling it since last night. The eyes of the observer that sends a shiver down his spine.
'This level of stealth.'
Russell has an ability called after inheriting it from his disease father. With Russell could feel the worry, nervousness, or unease, typically about an imminent event or something with an uncertain outcome. But the stronger the other side is, the higher his anxiety is.
And his current anxiety is quite strong. It is the stronger he has ever felt before, which is why he was so anxious since the meeting that took place last night.
'Is it related to the one following me around with its eyes?'
But Russell doubts it. This type of anxiety just does not come from a simple stalker.

Russell sighs deeply as he stops swinging his arms from every direction. He then walks towards one of the trees as he rests his back on the huge trunk that looks normal if we forgot how enormous they truly are.
'Is it something else? Something I am missing...?'
No, he was sure. There is something he was missing here.
'But what could it be? Nothing is too suspicious these days though?'
Russell touches his chin as he looks up. But he was soon frozen in his spot when he meets two small round eyes peeking in the tree while staring straight at him.
"Wha—!?"
The redbird immediately stood up from the ground as he jumps towards the tree where he saw two small pink round eyes watching him.
"What was that...?"
He did not manage to get a closer look at the creature peeking out its head, but he was sure it was a very small one.
"Who was that?"
Unable to get content from just getting a glimpse of the small creature, Russell has begun to search for it. However, 30 minutes have passed but there were no traces of it.
Russell sighs as he got down from the trees.
"Damn. I should just get to work."
As Russell has too many questions in mind, he calls it a day and has decided to go and get the 'good' for the next day's trade.
Reece, who quickly flies higher and even gets past the gigantic trees, has imaginary sweats on his forehead.
'Whew~'
Breathing in and out, Reece has calm down but is still holding his chest as he was so nervous and scared.
'T, that was a close call.'
The redbird's face looks very scary as he dashes towards Reece. The pink fairy could not remove it from his mind.
'Did he notice I am a fairy?'
[Do not worry, I made sure it was all blurry except your eyes.]
'Well, good work.'
With that, Reece descends from the sky as he continued observing Russell from afar, who seems more anxious than earlier.
'He is going back?'
The redbird seems to halt his training and is walking back to the tribe.
'Why does he always looks so dramatic?'
Reece has noticed this useless detail from the redbird since last night.
Redbird Russell seems to always look so deep in thought, as if he was heartbroken or lonely, as he walks slowly with his head on the ground coupled with its clouded eyes.
'Err...'
Even though he was cringing, Reece still did not take his eyes off Russell.
And.
Redbird Russell goes back to the red house. However, there was no one inside but Russell and Reece. No elders are present.
Reece, who was hiding in the high ceiling in the corner, watches everything that Russell does inside.
The redbird sits down right after on the Chief's chair as he took out something from under the table. It was several green leaves cut in rectangular that were already forming a tower. Russell also took out a stick with a pointy tip.
'They are many. I supposed these are their papers and pens?'
[Indeed.]
'I see.'
Russell starts scribbling on thick and large leaves.
'This, the weird number are letters?'
Their alphabets look more like numbers and they are all way too similar to tell which letter is which.
Anyhow, Russell only did writing for the past 6 hours. It was very quiet and boring that Reece wants to yawn if he could.
Later on, the night has finally arrived. But the redbird showed no sign of moving from his seat.
'So workaholic.'
It was only after 5 more hours when the redbird finally stops writing with the stick. The night was also beginning to get deeper.
The redbird stood up and reaches out his hand on the tree trunk and opens it without hesitation. It was actually a secret volt.
There, something was covered in white cloth. Obviously, it was the 'good.'
'When... did it get there?'
Reece was confused.
'Or was it there from the beginning?'
There is also a high chance that the Chief puts it there while Russell was out.
At the end of the day, Reece has managed to find nothing as the 'good' was covered when the redbird found it. He did not see what the 'good' was. And the Chief too. He did not even show his face and simply just left the package.
'Well, it's not like, the Chief and the good is that important.'
It was only out of his undying curiosity that Reece has decided to see the Tribe Chief and the 'good.' It was not something that is needed for their coup and escape.
'And, I still have one card to use to see what the good was.'
Kekeke!
'I still have not given up.'
Reece was snickering like a crazy maniac as he began to fly towards Azure's sleeping space.
They still had to discuss a few more things, unfortunately, so Reece could not go visit Hugh Ibrahim tonight.
'It is a shame as Hugh and I got a bit closer since last night.'
Of course, Reece has no idea that Hugh was thinking of something as well. They both got closer to each other with a hidden motive towards the other.
