《Kage System》Volume 1: Chapter 6 Revelation

Zheng looked at the nine weird creatures one by one. He was mesmerized by their appearance. Though they were cute.
The first one was a sandy-brown colored tanuki, with black cursed seal markings all over its face, body, and tail. It has a jagged, concave mouth with no tongue, and the sclerae of its eyes are black, with yellow irides and pupils that each takes the shape of a black four-pointed star with four black dots around it.
The second one was a young flaming kitten. It is like a bakeneko(1) and is completely engulfed in flames, like a Kasha. It also has heterochromatic eyes, the right being yellow and the left being green, similar to an odd-eyed cat without pupils.
The third one primarily resembles a large turtle, but with a crab-like shell, spikes all over its body, and three shrimp-like tails. Under its shell, it has red, muscle-like tissue. It has a pair of human-like arms and hands, but no hind-legs. His face is concealed between a large forehead and lower jaw — both of which have spikes. Its eyes are red and have crimson pupils. In the anime, the eyes are red with yellow pupils.
The fourth one, it was the red-furred monkey.
The fifth one primarily resembles a white horse, but with a dolphin's head. It has two pointed long horns and three shorter horns in front. The ends of its horns, hooves, and tails are tan, with some of the same colored spots before the tan areas of its horns and hooves. It also has red markings under its dark blue-green eyes.
The sixth is an enormous white — with a light blueish tint — bipedal slug with stubby arms, feet and six long tails. It has two prominent optical tentacles (eyes) and hole-like openings as a mouth. Its entire body is covered in a thick, slimy substance.
The seventh resembles a blue, armored kabutomushi (2), with six of its seven tails resembling green insect wings, along with an actual seventh tail, all growing from the end of its abdomen.

The eight is an ushi-oni(3) with four long horns on its head, similar to that of a Jacob sheep(4).
And the last one is a kitsune with nine long swiping tails. It has red-orange fur with black fur around its eyes that stretches to its ears, red irises with black slits for pupils and the upper-body structure of a human, complete with opposable thumbs on its clawed hands.
Suddenly, weird images appeared on Zheng's mind, but all of those are blurry. No matter what he tried, those images are unknown to him. But one thing caught his attention. That was when he was just 4 years old.
While browsing the internet in his room, Zheng accidentally saw a popular anime series dated back 300 years ago. The title of the anime is called Naruto. Little Zheng watched it out of his curiosity. But Zheng's mother noticed him watching it, she suddenly disconnected all the wirings and then scolded the little Zheng. His mother said to Zheng that never watched that anime again. Due to his fear, Zheng obeyed his mother's advice. Little Zheng cried the whole day because he never had the chance of finishing the first episode.
'This is weird, why I suddenly remembered those painful memories.'
Zheng cleared his thoughts and imprinted everything he saw in his mind. He believes that he can use this information in the future.
Lastly, Zheng remembered something that the man said when he first met him.
Zheng faced the man and said, "Can I ask you a question?"
"Hmm?"
"I just want to ask about the thing you said a while ago," Zheng asked as there was hesitation in his voice.
The man ignored him and clapped his hands in sudden realization, "Oh! Yes yes yes! Before I met you, some people also arrived here."
'T-This is… So I'm not the only one transported here in this world?' Zheng's mind was blown away by the man's answer.

Zheng was pleased. 'There's a big chance that those people can help me.'
But the man's following words left Zheng speechless.
"So Zheng, what kind of System did you get?" The man said to him with a stern look.
Zheng gulped. 'How the hell he knew the existence of the system? I never told him about it.'
The man approached the silent Zheng with a smile on his face, "If you don't want to reveal it that's okay. But you're the only person that I like the most, so I will give you some advice."
The man rose from his spot and looked up above them and said with a dazed expression, "Each person that I met holds tremendous power or what you called 'System' in your term. The Supreme System, Overpowered System, Idle System, Hero System, Strongest System, Last Wish System, Quincy System, Shinigami System, Assassination System, Merchant System, Ultimate Scheming System, Dating System, Fantasy System, Supreme Martial System, Death God System, Devil Fruit System, Supreme Emperor System, RPG System, Revolutionary System, Death Note System, Dimension System, Almighty System, Pirate System and so on."
'What kind of sorcery is this? Those system's names are all heavenly good!' Zheng felt that his system is trash compared to the other people and want's to bury his head in shame. Somehow, he felt pity for himself.
'No, wait, this is not the right time to judge my system. The Kage in the world of Naruto that I watched is the pinnacle of strength. I remember the old man back then was super strong, and he was a Kage. Yes right, let's see how far my system can reach.' But Zheng immediately recovered in regret as he encouraged himself to trust his system no matter what happens. This character of him makes his life fruitful in his past life.
Zheng made up his mind. He stood up, facing the man, he bowed, "Thank you again for your help. I was just shocked when you suddenly brought up about the system. The system I got is called Kage System. That's all I know about it."
The man was surprised by Zheng's action. "I see. It seems your system is quite extraordinary." He nodded as though he had been enlightened, his eyes twinkling.
The man's pupilless eye looked at Zheng and said with a divine voice, "But don't worry, there's only a small chance that you will encounter those people."
"Huh? Wh-why?" Zheng was bewildered. His expectations vanished immediately.
"To put it plainly, it is to balance the world. All of you will start in another dimension according to the system you have received. The idea is simple, to test your capability in overcoming obstacles and how can you cope up with your environment."
Zheng who quietly listens to the man's explanation trembled with fear, and at the same time is the exciting experience.
Zheng suddenly snapped out of his daze and said, "Okay, somehow I understand a little bit. Thank you again." Zhen stood there with wide eyes.
The man walked a few meters away from Zheng and said, "Well then, I bid farewell to you know."
Zheng was startled and without even the chance to talk, strange light covered the man and eventually vanished.
Zheng stood in his spot like a stone statue. "What was going on?" He looked around the area and saw nothing. Even the nine creatures were gone.
At this moment the system notification sound rang in his mind.

["Congratulations on completing your first mission."]

On the Road to Elspar (Book 1)
The year is 1329. The Huntress' War has entered its tenth year, inflaming competing nationalisms and pitting the Confederacy of Caldrein against one of the continent's superpowers, the Tenereian Union. Desperately outnumbered, the Confederacy has relied on the prowess of its famed Caldran mercenaries, with highly-trained and experienced warbands returning from foreign conflicts to the defense of their homeland, and it is on their backs that Caldrein has successfully mounted a valiant defense for a decade. But they are losing, and day by day, with all the grace of a sledgehammer, the vast Tenereian armies take one more bit of Caldran territory, one footstep at a time. Sixteen-year-old Neianne from the village of Caelon has submitted herself to Faulkren Academy, one of the centuries-old institutions established to train the next generation of Caldrein's elite soldiers of fortune, to learn the ways of wars for three years before embarking upon the defense of her country. Her dryad family once hailed from reclusive woodland communes isolated from Caldrein's complicated mainstream society, and her upbringing leaves the shy village girl unprepared to suddenly train alongside other apprentices from backgrounds as low as the dirty slums of Caldrein's cities and as high as the halls of aristocratic power. Yet the war is eroding the norms and traditions that the Caldran people have long considered part of their national mythos, and the tensions within the confederacy that have long simmered under the surface - race, class, community, identity - are slowly but surely dividing its people, and Neianne must grow and discover who she really is, even as the war that she is steadfastly training for comes to its inexorable end... On the Road to Elspar is a fantasy quest - a work of interactive fiction wherein readers get to vote on what happens next at critical junctures - that is the first entry in a story that follows Neianne of Caelon, which first began on July 20, 2016. Originally a three-part in medias res prologue to a larger story titled On the Elsparian Road, it was eventually decided that this section - which covers Neianne's three years at Faulkren Academy - become its own independent story due to length, structural, and accessibility reasons. Despite this being a reader interactive work of fiction, due to logistical and verification concerns, voting will only be counted on its thread on the forum Sufficient Velocity, where this story originally began. As such, the content here on Royal Road serves as a story-only archive. You are, of course, entirely welcome to enjoy On the Road to Elspar as a conventional work of fiction, just as you are welcome to comment, discuss, and provide critique. But if you would like to participate in the voting, then I would be honored to welcome you on Sufficient Velocity. To facilitate accessibility and to ensure the best reading experience, this story-only version of On the Road to Elspar will be updated at a periodic pace, even though further content exists, so as to not overwhelm new readers on Royal Road. If you enjoy this story, wish to binge it, and/or want to participate in voting immediately, you may of course read all additional content via the link provided above. This paragraph will be removed once the content on Royal Road catches up with what has already been posted in its original thread. Cover artwork by DreamSyndd.

The fallen (?) hero and Aži Dahāka's soul fragment
I have to apologize.A certain real life problem that I thought I got rid of has caught up to me once again.I tried to continue writing, but my mind was not in the right track to do so and thus, as some people had said, the quality of the latest 2 chapters had turned from the usual "bad" to "worst". So, I reluctantly have to say that I will be away until I can sort things out.I can't say when, but I do intend to return to writing. I might lurk around to read other people's works though. I will be turning my attention to stories with "tragedy" and "despair". The five of us were summoned to this world from our clubroom two years ago to be made as heroes.Shouldn't forceful summoning like that be counted as kidnapping?Well, we chose to go with the heroes route. After harsh training and battles, not to mention all the killings, we finally defeated the demon lord. However, all those achievements literally became nothing, it wasn't just forgotten, it was erased to be totally nothing as even the written records were somehow being disposed of. I was too naive. Who would have thought that the side we have been fighting alongside with, the side we were fighting for, was the one to bring our demise? After I had to see everyone else turn into nothingness, somehow... I alone survived. Note: I will attempt to fix the grammar problem with the help of lieutenant colonel fletterman. This may delay the release of future chapter. Chapter 1 is fixed. Chapter 2 is fixed.
