《The Journey to Godhood: A Madman's Dream》Ch: 23 Doc

King Athoras and I arrived at the sickbay.
"Please state the nature of your medical emergency?"
An indifferent voice asked, even though her voice was sweet to the ears, it lacked empathy.
"Oh captain, how can I help?"
The emergency medical hologram. This was so cool, this was like in Star Trek. She wore a lab coat over her uniform. Her beauty would make goddesses lament and stars look dim. She had white skin as smooth and pure heavenly jade. Her raven black hair, one ponytail to enchant mankind. For her body, no words would do justice.
I sighed, alas she is just a hologram. When I grew stronger, I could come up with a method to create genuine souls.
"Doc, get this person fixed. He has a bit of a problem."
"What problem? I'm versed in 5.6 million medical procedures. Who's the patient?"
King Athoras needed a while to regain his composure. He seemed to be caught inside an Illusion and just managed to break the spell.
He coughed once.
"It is this one. I'm sorry to trouble miss." His kingly demeanor vanished.
"Miss? I like what I hear."
She grabbed king Athoras and dragged him to a sick bed.
"Sit down." Her cold voice left no room for negotiations.
Even the king couldn't retort. He became like a timid boy.
"Good now don't move while this sister checks on your body."
"Should this one take off his armor?"
"Why should you? This is not the stone age." She took a medical tricorder and scanned the king's body.
While she looked at the tricorder her face got more and more serious. Then a frown appeared on her face.
"What problem do you have, boy."
"Boy? Eh- This one is cursed."
Her apathetic behaviour and mature charm was too much for the king to handle. The king of a country was behaving like a child.
"Curse? Interesting, this explains the strange readings I got from the scans."
"Can this one be cured?"
The docs cold voice turned brighter, as she exclaimed with slight excitement.
"Of course. I don't know anything about curses, but I'm a hundred percent sure that I can cure you."
"Really?" The king got excited, somehow he didn't even doubt her words. I couldn't blame him, the doc is a really scary figure, in the field of medicine her words were law.

"I require a blood sample." The doc grabbed a futuristic syringe that didn't need to penetrate the skin to inject or draw blood.
With a hissing sound king, Athoras's blood was taken.
She took the blood sample and put it inside a socket from one of the medical consols.
I went closer to the display.
"So what does it say?"
"No Chromosomes missing or too much. Blood values are good. His physique is identical, the humans on earth. Unfortunately, I have no data about magic and mana."
"The crew has already sent the scans to the sect's main computer. It is currently being analyzed. It should finish soon, when we analyze the data, the computer can begin running simulations. We will have the possibilities to create medical procedures, magical combat spells and stuff like that."
While we only had a databank containing information from earth. With these futuristic technologies, I could solve the mysteries of this world one by one. Combining earth's technology and magic was also a possibility.
"Good, he should stay for a while,I intend to do some tests and research on my own.
An ominous grin crept on the doc's face, her pure and mature charm where nowhere to be seen.
"I have full trust in you Doc, do everything you deem necessary. The good tressures are obtained by digging deep. Altering physics, changing DNA. As long as he stays alive after the producer everything's fine."
Doc's sinister aura vanished and the mature charm returned. With a warm smile she nodded three times.
"Captain, it is a pleasure indeed. To have a captain that has the same mindset, I can only look forward to the future serving under you."
I could only nod four times. It signified my approval, nodding four times held more weight then only nodding three times.
Doc chuckled and also nodded this time she nodded five times!
Not wanting to be outdone I also nodded this time I added a nod to surpass her.
We nodded at each other for a bit when king Athoras interrupted us.
"Excuse me. Do you have any news?" He smiled awkwardly while he rubbed his head.
"We bring good tidings to thee. There is a way to remove the curse, however, there is a heavy price to pay. You will have to traverse seas of flames and climb mountains of blades. There might be a risk of death but I'm certain that Doc won't let you down."

He narrowed his eyes and then exclaimed.
"I'll do it." The kingly aura returned as king Athoras exclaimed with determination. It was as his youthful fire rekindled, a fire that could melt the earth.
"Good, good. As expected." I stroked my beard.
"I love cooperating patients the most."
"I'll do anything it takes."
After a bit of silence, the sickbay door opened and my mother dragged in my unconscious father.
"I heard this is the sickbay?"
"Yes mam, please state the nature of your medical emergency."
"My husband is disabled. Can you cure him?"
Doc took a medical tricorder and assessed his injuries.
"Three broken ribs, a broken arm, a server concussion, deep cuts, all his tendons are cut."
"Is it bad?" Mother asked.
"His vitals are within the normal parameter. He should be fine." The doc grabbed my father by his collar and threw him to the sick back next to king Athoras.
"Mother you need to be more careful, you don't want your child to be fatherless at a young age."
My mother turned around and her eyes widen.
"Thorus?"
"Yes?"
"What have you done? Why do you have a beard?"
"Mom, this is not a phase, I swear. This is how I identify, an ancestor who has seen the passage of time like the flow of the river.
You surely don't want me to become rebellious. A child that throws tantrums can shake the floor. When I throw a tantrum stars collapse and gods try to appease my anger."
"Hoo, do you threaten me?"
"Your son was unfilial. Let me do three... no four kowtows to show you my piety."
"Ugh- Where am I" Father woke up from his unconsciousness.
"Welcome to the real world." The doc said.
"My head, ah Thorus you are also here? Nice beard."
"Don't encourage him."
"Roland?"
King Athoras called out from the sick bed next to my father's.
The doc and I made way, when the king and my father saw each other their eyes widen in surprise.
"What are you doing here old pal?" The king asked in an excited manner.
"Hahahaha, Arty is this for real." Their hands met mid-air which resulted in a shockwave.
"Oh no, the two idiots found each other again."
"Sophie don't be so mean to old pal Arty."
"Yes, Sophie this is really unfair."
"Hmm, then what are you doing here on my son's ship?"
"Your son?" King Athoras looked at me. "This is your son?" Shock showed on the Kings face.
"No wonder, no wonder everything makes sense. A tigress doesn't beget a dogs son."
A bit of warmth showed on the kings face as he looked at me.
I knew it, my parents weren't just some random people.
"Aiya, king Athoras is a friend of the family. Excuse me if I was rude earlier."
"What are you saying son hahaha, call me uncle arty."
"By the way what are you doing here arty."
"I? Hahaha. Your son came bragging inside the palace and challenged me."
King Athoras recalled everything that happened until now.
"For real? He may know a cure to your family curse?"
My mother and father were shocked and they looked at me with disbelief.
"It's great to get some appreciation around here." The doc mumbled while doing some tests.
"Well, soon doc will find a cure. Then the rest is just some fate-altering here and
a bit heaven-defying there, no big deal."
My mother nodded in approvement and my father became excited.
"What are we waiting for, let's do it."
"We were about to before you came." The doc fixed her glasses and came with a wooden case.
"Now excuse me but I need to do some experiments."
I nodded to my parents to signal that we should leave.
"Hang on uncle and good luck."
The sickbay door closed and screams could be heard.
"Poor arty for such a man to cry like a baby, ayy."
"He'll make it father don't worry. So what are your plans?"
"Hmm, I think I'll go home and rest, after that I'll quit my job and pursue my dreams."
"That sounds nice, you shouldn't work like peasants anyway."
"Mother you should also quit your job."
"That I'll do, now that you can take care of yourself mother has still unfinished business. This normal life is not for me after all." A dangerous glimmer in her red eyes appeared.
"Great we'll go do some adventuring like in old times." Father seemed eager.
