《Subjugation of Gods》Traversing the Immeasurable Expanses

Old Sixth broke the silence, "I don't think he will really bother with us unless we disturb his domain, there have been rumours of his being in hibernation for millenniums. But if he awakens, and dares to show off his power in front of us, then we are also not so easy to defeat." Gritting his teeth near the end, he radiated an air of defiance which was amplified by the coolness of all sages. Krishna was puzzled but didn't show it on surface, " Who the hell is this person, whom they are not even speaking the name of. Surely, not a Sage, because Old Sixth won't show disrespect to a Sage of the preceding generations. I wonder, who it is? Observable Universe is even a more mysterious place than the Outer Void!"
"Calm down, Old Sixth, I would take care of that, leave it on me!" Old Fourth touched his shoulders lightly and strode towards the Eldest First.
Elder brother had some sadness on his face, "Take care of yourself Bing Bing! Don't let your elder brother worry."
"Brother, you remember my name?"
Elder brother eyes clouded as he reminisced for a split second, "Yes, I remember all your names, but I can't remember the name I was born with. It's been too long, and to find it would take lot of effort. " Then he smiled towards Krishna, " Krishna, you may have wondered, what our names are? I can't tell what my mother named me. But as far back as I can recall from the time I met your Third Senior Sister, I was known as Vashistha. And she is my beloved, Arundhati." Third Senior sister lovingly came to hold the hand of her husband. Vashistha was the name she herself gave him, for to her he was the 'most excellent' in the world. Those who knew about the sages, knew her only second to Vashishtha, since she was one of the most faithful and beloved wife to Vashistha. For the world she was known for her fidelity, but to him, she was his sun, the star of his eyes.
Old Sixth seemed a bit envious of their union, and sighed but soon stabilised himself. Apparently, he could never be together with his beloved, and chose brahmacharya as a result.
Second Senior sister continued happily, " When I was young, my mother called me Ying Qing'er as both my ears and speech were sharper than ordinary. " And gradually everyone scoured their memories to find the oldest names they used. Old Fourth in his star system was famously known as Bing Tian, as even the coldest ice couldn't freeze his intent. And Old Fifth, named himself Angirasa when he took on the path of renunciation, after giving away his right to the throne of a mortal kingdom to his little brother. When he mastered the essence of body first, and named himself the same. Old Sixth was called Fang Qian in his childhood, sharing distant relations with the esteemed Fang Clan in the Eastern Chasms. And Old Seventh took on the name of Vishwamitra when he rose to the level of a mortal sage. He had the wish that he could befriend the whole world with his meditative power, and so called himself the friend of the world. It was only the sages who preferred to call him Qi Ming due to some previous untold happening.

Old Seventh calmly continued, " So, Krishna. You now know all of our names. Living for hundreds and thousand of years, some of us forget our own names, and for ease address each other by our numbers in the Order. But numbers do have a significance, to tell you. When you become a True Sage you will realise that! "
Krishna was speechless, when he heard the introductions of sages, he understood that all these rose from being ordinary people like him too, he unconsciously began to hold them in an even higher regard. He clasped his hands in respect towards all the Sages. Old Fourth stretched out his hand towards Krishna, " Come lad! It's time for us to leave." As Krishna held the hand, a strange chill entered his body and soul, an essence of ultimate ice. And they disappeared in a whiff only to appeared a 100 Mpcs (megaparsecs) ahead. Krishna was a bit flabbergasted at this mode of transportation.
Old Fourth chuckled, "What boy? Did you like the little burst?" Krishna could only smile bitterly. It was pure torture on the body, had he not shielded his body with divine sense, it may have destroyed to dust.
Eldest brother and the others gazed at the emptiness for a moment, and all of them bidding goodbye went their own ways, to different parts of the universe except Vashishtha and Fang Qian. First brother mused, "Xiao Qian, I guess it's time for you to stop suppressing your breakthrough. I, Qi Ming and Qing'er have already attained the level of True Sage. Arundhati would catch up soon as well. Bing Bing just needs a stimulation and with Krishna maybe he would attain it too. I have high expectations from you, don't disappoint me. "
Fang Qian lightly spoke, " Elder brother, most of us Sages lead lonely lives, and sometimes this becomes an impediment to our growth. I want a stage where I can showcase myself. So, I would go to Central Plains."
Vashishtha seemed proud upon hearing that response, " Alright! I will wait for you in Planet Mo Quan. It's not long before we start seeing some potential ones to ascend as our Ninth Junior." And so he too flew in the empty space.
Fang Qian was left behind all alone, "I really have to release all the pent up frustration. Why I didn't rise to the level of True Sage, was basically because I suppressed any changes of the lotuses with spiritual energy. I wanted to experience life, that of an ascetic and gain a greater perception of it, since my path focusses on the essence of life and death. But now, the time has arrived, to release that spiritual energy, theoretically on the outside it would seem as if I am ascending to become a God King, however internally I would become a True Sage, the moment I open 95 lotuses, I opened the first outside lotus a thousand years ago, this time I will target the another one beyond physical body." Gearing himself up, he raced like a comet to the vast expanses of cosmos.

Meanwhile, Krishna was experiencing reckless speeds that he had never travelled before. Old Fourth really was Bing Tian, according to him, this guy had an ultimate ice affinity body too, making it almost as indestructible as a diamond. So, he didn't have much care as to it's maintenance unlike Krishna's poor body, which was the most ordinary mortal type. By now, they had stopped numerous times to take breaths. In the empty space, there is no sense of time, all of it feels timeless, and so it was hard for Krishna to discern the passage of time. Travelling at most light speeds, time seemed to move slowly compared to the internal clock running in his spirit sea whereas the time in his internal seas seemed to run quicker in comparison. And sometimes, even the passage was twisted, when Old Fourth effortlessly weaved thousands of wormholes to shorten their travel. Apparently, he exhibited far more control on the trajectory of their exit points. Old Fourth like all the other sages, had floated in the expanses of the universe since he became a part of the league. He just flicked his index finger and created warp bubbles, bending the space time with mass energy distributions in a way so as to travel at speeds faster than light. If they only travelled at light speed, then going from Outer Void to Observable Universe would be an unrealistic dream.
With a sudden halt, Old Fourth diffused the warp bubble and took a deep breath. Although Sages unlike cultivators didn't use inner spiritual energy, still mental power and divine sense was consumed and exhausted, and required rapid regeneration as well. Krishna heaved a breath too, although in the empty space, there wasn't oxygen but for Immortal cultivators and Sages, any bit of energy was enough to provide them comfort. Krishna yawning, spoke at last, "How long is the distance Fourth brother? It's still empty space, but I don't see the Observable Universe anywhere."
Old Fourth scratched his head in some worry and took out a pear candy from his pocket to relish, "By my intuition, we have passed some hundreds of gigaparsecs(Gpcs) by now. I don't know what's the distance till yet to the Observable Universe. If you really keep record of each of the abilities used to traverse till the expanses of OU, you might be able to calculate all that using the principles of relativity. However, I neither counted nor paid as much attention to the technical aspects. It would be madness to traverse the remaining distance this way. All the effort I exerted was just to show you the execution of some techniques which you may have only theoretically known till now. When you are in the Observable Universe, all these methods would come handy for you. "
Krishna expectantly asked, "So, what would we do now instead?"
"Ah! what else, we will use a divine artifact to trigger and activate the Network of Primordial Arrays. That's a remnant of the network established by Primordial Gods and Sages of yore!"

Join him as he traverse the lands of Fymia, where the arcane had faded into the annals of time and yet persist in the most mundane of things. And as he found himself dragged deeper into a catastrophic series of events that would change his perception of the world, and the course of history for the world itself... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Author's comments: The story was meant to be a satire of the Japanese animanga tropes.... until it got out of hand to the point I'm not sure it's a satire anymore. I hope you can find enjoyment in it nonetheless.
