《A Time for Leisure》Chapter 8: Killing Intent

After the door was locked, Caz sighed. He didn't understand how this crazy woman thought. They had just met an hour ago and she already wanted him to be her servant. 'What a weirdo'. Another knock at the door came along with Amelia's voice. "Open up, sweetie. The elder said he had to follow him to get our monthly allowance." As soon as Amelia ended her sentence, the door burst open and Caz came out with a crazed look. "DID YOU SAY ALLOWANCE?!" Caz screamed. "Uh... Yes, the sect gives us an allowance of 10 gold a month, did you not know this?" Amelia was shocked at first but soon held a laugh at the sight of his crazy appearance. "10 gold?! What are we waiting for, lets' go!" Caz picked her up and slumped her over his shoulder as he bolted towards the door. He soon found the elder and the other disciples outside of the residence and quickly walked up to them. Setting Amelia down as he eagerly awaited the elder's instructions. The elder was dumbfounded at the sight of the young man carrying the princess like baggage over his shoulder. He would have laughed if the princess wasn't staring daggers at him as she fixed her hair. "Oh, well. As you kids probably know, you're about to get your monthly allowance. We do this so you can buy any necessities from the city. Be sure to not waste it on anything stupid, like candy, hahaha!" The elder said this as a joke but he didn't notice Caz's downcast expression. "What's wrong?" Amelia said as she saw the depressed look on his face. "*sniff* candy *sniff*," Caz said in a barely audible voice as tears threatened to leak out of his eyes. "Pff, hehehe! He was just joking, sweetie. Don't worry, I'll get you some candy." Amelia laughed as she pinched his cheeks. Those words of hers ignited the inner child in Caz. He would make her pockets beg for mercy. "Really? You're sure? Don't regret it! Thanks, Amelia. You're the best!" Caz cheered with his carefree and childish smile coming back to his face. This smile that had unknowingly caused many hearts to suddenly flutter. Amelia wasn't an exception as she slightly blushed while she started coughing. The disciples soon had 10 more gold in their pockets as the elder waved his hands to dismiss them. For inner sect disciples, they didn't have many things to do. The higher-ups in the sect decided that the disciples in the sect would be on their own as they climbed towards the top. Though they did give them monthly allowances of money and resources to help, the disciples mostly just fought for themselves. Amelia was a core disciple while Caz was an inner disciple. Caz was confused, he had beaten Amelia, why wasn't he a core disciple too? Whatever, it didn't really matter to him. Caz didn't really care about the ranks in a sect since, to be honest, he had no clue what they even meant. Walking back to the residence, with Amelia following him for some reason, Caz thought about his plans for the future in the sect. He didn't need to cultivate anymore, he didn't need to please the elders for resources, he didn't need to do anything, really. He just wanted to experience something new, life was really boring in the Higher Realm, it'd be better to ask yourself if you were really living at all. Caz hated killing and even though he was considered bloodthirsty by his enemies, he never once had killed someone who didn't deserve it. Of course, this didn't mean he would spare anyone who threatened him or his loved ones. He just felt like all this killing for resources was very stupid. Killing someone for something petty like a pill, he couldn't understand it. Shaking his head as if to blow these thoughts away, he walked towards his room. He inserted the key and opened the door. Before he could shut it again, Amelia already slithered through his arms and threw herself onto the couch. Caz didn't care as he just shut the door and walked towards their freezer. Every room came with one with fresh vegetables and meat. There wasn't any alcohol, sadly. There were gallons and gallons of water, though. Grabbing a cup, Caz filled it with water and sat down on the couch as he sighed and took a sip. The cold water flowed through him as he felt relaxed. While he wasn't physically exhausted, this new experience had tired him out mentally. Kicking his shoes off, he relaxed as he fully let the soft couch engulf his body. Amelia beside him saw this and imitated him. She threw her shoes off and placed her feet on his lap as she laid her head on the arms of the couch. Caz noticed but was too lazy to do anything about it. "Hey, I never asked you, what is your cultivation base?" Amelia asked with a lazy but curious tone as she was still relaxing. "Hmm? Oh, somewhere beyond Zenith." Caz said with a muffled tone as his face was buried in a pillow. "Zenith? What is that?" Amelia said while she played with her hair. "You don't know? It's just a bit above the Truth realm." (Caz) "Truth realm? I still don't know where you're going with this." Amelia said with a slightly annoyed tone, thinking that Caz was teasing her. Caz merely sighed as he said "Forget it. It turns out that our lovely princess has a pig brain." "Don't insult me, servant! Do you not know that it is considered a grave offence to insult your master?" Amelia said as she kicked her feet around. "Hey now, I never agreed to be your servant, Miss Piggy." Caz smiles as he ignored her 'attacks'. "Hmph, you're just delaying the inevitable. Once I tell daddy, you'll have nowhere to run. Daddy is in the Heaven Defiance realm! Only slightly below the Human Emperor! Bow your head before me and this humble princess might just forgive you!" Amelia giggled as she played with Caz. Amelia had always wanted a friend to joke around with. While her family had always doted on her, she never had someone her age who wasn't a family member to talk to. They were usually scared by her background. Amelia never had the heart to talk to any of them either, as she was quite shy in her younger days. Now that the little princess met someone who didn't care about her background, she wasn't going to let him just run away. While she was joking about Caz bowing his head for her to forgive him, she really did want Caz to be her servant. This was the only way our 'pig brained' princess could figure out how to make Caz stay close to her. Jumping up, Caz quickly bowed his head and said with a loud tone, "Forgive me, my lady! This lowly one had no idea that you were so great!" He finished his sentence with a restrained laugh. "As long as you know, hmph! Quickly fetch this princess something to drink!" Amelia played along as she giggled. "At once, mistress!" Caz gave her his cup, he had only taken a sip out of it. Amelia took the cup and gulped the water down without a second thought. Caz saw this and laughed creepily on the inside. "I-i-i-is this an indirect kiss?! Kyaaaaa!" Caz held his face as he let out a girly scream. "Take responsibility!" Caz said as he pointed at Amelia with a straight face. Amelia looked like she saw a ghost when he said this. She quickly woke up from her daze and giggled. "Alright, consider the responsibility taken." She leaned over as she pretended to give Caz a kiss. Caz smiled mischievously as he went all-in. He picked her up by her legs and held her face close to his as his lips soon attacked hers. A gasp of surprise came from Amelia before her lips were sealed by his. A soft barely audible moan came leaked from her as they separated. Amelia was still in her daze for a second until she saw Caz laughing. "What's so funny?" She asked while she had an annoyed but embarrassed look on her face. "You look so adorable! That's what made me laugh, I wish I could just eat you up, but we have to know each other better. All this is going too fast for me," Caz replied with a fake blush on his cheeks while he played with his thumbs. Amelia snorted while she sat back down on the couch. Caz joined her as he went back to his position with his head on a soft pillow. Amelia put her feet on his lap again as she sat there in silence as she thought about the kiss. 'What am I doing? I just met this man a few hours ago and I've already kissed him. It feels weird. I know this is going a bit too fast, but why does my body crave for more? I don't know what this feeling is.' Amelia thought to herself. She had never experienced anything even remotely similar to this. She didn't know what the feeling was, but she didn't hate it. In fact, she even wanted more of this feeling, it was like it was calling to her, but she couldn't reach it Amelia looked at Caz as he had his head on the pillow with his eyes closed. She just stared at his face, trying to engrave it in her mind. While the man might have terrifying eyes that would make even an evil demon scream, there was something gentle about them, like they meant no harm to anyone. The same kind of feeling you'd see only in an innocent child. She wanted to savor this feeling, make it hers. She just closed her eyes. She wished time would just stop flowing so she could sit here forever. Amelia closed her eyes as she attempted to sleep, as soon as she closed her eyes, a loud snore went through her ears. Opening her eyes, she saw Caz with his mouth open, drool slowly crawling down his cheek. Amelia almost burst out laughing at the sight. Smiling gently, she closed her eyes once more as the bliss of sleep soon washed over her. ----------- Amelia's eyes trembled as they slowly opened. It was still dark out but the sun was visibly awakening. She felt something wrapped around her as she looked down and saw a dark blanket around her and Caz.

It seemed Caz had found a blanket and pulled himself and Amelia under it. She was sitting right beside Caz as her body fell upon his. Her head was on his shoulder as his face was still on the pillow. Slightly blushing, she straightened her back and pulled the blanket off of her. Standing up and fixing her messy bedhead, she walked into the bathroom to look at herself in the mirror. Meanwhile, Caz was waking up when he felt a large killing intent. He instantly opened his eyes as he used his Divine Sense to find the location of where it was originating. The person was hiding the killing intent exceptionally well. However, this attempt at hiding it wasn't anywhere near enough to hide it from Caz. Narrowing his eyes, he watched as the figure unlocked the door with a weird contraption. Amelia was still fixing her appearance. 'Damnit, why does my hair go all over the place whenever I sleep? It takes too long to fix, ugh.' It would be laughable if the young girl could feel the killing intent, which even the sect elders couldn't detect. She was about to walk out of the bathroom when she saw a man in black in front of her, she stumbled backward the man's aura came crashing down on her. The man looked down on her as she fell on her butt. While you couldn't see his face, she could tell that he was sneering. Slowly pulling out a dagger that had a gem in the middle of it, he smiled as he caressed it. "Apologies Princess, but it seems your journey ends here." The man suddenly appeared before her as he sliced her neck, or at least that was he was planning to do. A hand had suddenly grabbed his arm, he was shocked but his instincts kicked in as he used his free hand to slice at the person holding his arm. The dagger connected and it instantly shattered upon contact. The eyes of the man suddenly widened as he saw this. 'What?! A Grade 6 dagger shattered like this?!' In the mortal world, you could usually only find up to Grade 8 weapons, so a grade 6 weapon was already considered a 'delicacy' to even large Kingdoms. He looked at the owner of the hand and his soul jumped out of his body. The eyes that Amelia thought were gentle had now turned that gentleness into a killing intent that would make even the God of Slaughter shit himself. "What the fuck do you think you are doing?"

Unique Fusion Magic Hex
World Essence. The mysterious energy coursing throughout the entire land of Vor'ten, and very possibly the entire world. This energy has allowed humanity to flourish, building great empires and vast kingdoms, conquering nature itself with just a sweep of their hand. Humans were the strongest existence, and with the help of channeling this World Essence, many were able to turn into Magic Knights, gaining magical abilities to combat the various fierce beasts throughout the lands.Alas... those glory days of old were long gone. Humanity has now been pushed to the brink of destruction, and now the remaining members of the human race are encased within giant domes known as 'Alkkras', made with the last remaining bits of the World Essence. It was said that those giant domes were the last gifts left by the remnants of the ancient human race, as a means to protect the future generation from the attacks of the many wild beasts roaming outside. Five Spiritualist Invokers, all combined together, used the last bit of the World Essence and sacrificed their lives to lay a gigantic, 1028-seal formation magic array to form these barriers, forever saving humanity, but also trapping humanity within these barriers. However, the humans were never completely helpless. No matter how little World Essence was left, the humans still had some remaining. Realizing the incoming crisis, the humans found a way to seal World Essence inside a special type of crystal. Soon, these crystals began to become implanted into weapons, turning them into World Essence Weapons, and they began to display properties of their own. Extreme heat. Bone chilling cold. Absurd sharpness. These normal weapons, after being imbued with the energy of the World Essence Crystals, began to form natural affinities to elements. Fire. Water. Earth. Wind. Darkness. Light. Using these weapons, one could become a Chevalier that wielded the power of the elements. However, if one wanted to reach a higher level of enlightenment and understanding, one could become an Invoker. Via the study of magic array formations, one could directly use the power of the World Essence to cast devastating magics upon the enemy. These people were Invokers, highly valued for their combat potential by the Army. These weapons and magical arrays were used in the great fight between the humans and the beasts long ago. They had long since been put away in storage, almost long forgotten...However, after ten-thousand years of suppression, the human race is beginning its counterattack against the Beasts... Synth was an Invoker in the Magecroft Academy. However, his talent was terrible, being only at the Spark Stage. This led to him being looked down upon and bullied. He was unable to cast any Calamity-rank or even Destruction rank spells, and was only able to cast Coalescing rank spells at the age of 17, a record low in the academy for cultivating these rare Invokers. Even though he put in more effort than anyone else, he was still unable to advance his Channeling Energy. But due to his constant research and study, Synth ended up creating a power that would go against the heavens - he had found how to Fuse spells together. After trying it out once, merging the magical array for the Small Fireball and the Mortal Judgement skills, he was able to create a mid-rank Destruction tier spell, Holy Judgement Flame. However, after this, no matter how hard he tried, he was unable to fuse more spells together or even cast them, and noticed a weird, pentagram shaped formation on his left arm. He would later call this mark the Fusion Magic Hex, a curse that prevented the wielder from casting magic that wasn't their own...This meant that with the exception of Synth's newly created skill, , he was going to have to create unique magic arrays if he ever wanted to step on the path of becoming an Invoker! This power that destroyed the laws of the Invoking System, and his unyielding persistence in testing and creating new spells, would later gain Synth the nickname the Unique Fusion Hex, and lead him to become one of the strongest beings in the entire World!
