《An Enchanter's Tale》Chapter 2 – Seed

Siyu was eating when a vague figure appeared before him.
“Hey, what are you doing?”
“What? I’m eating.”
“Okay.”
Siyu continues to eat.
“Isn’t there anything else you want to do?”
“What? I just want to enjoy the meal.”
“Okay.”
Siyu finishes his meal.
“Man I wish I had something to drink.”
“Oh, here.”
“Thanks, I needed something to wash this food down.”
“And take this.”
“What’s this?”
“Oh, it’s a seed.”
Siyu takes the seed.
“What’s your name?”
“Oh it’s…”
…
…
…
“Siyu!” A voice exclaims.
“Uhm...” Siyu groggily mumbles, waking to the feeling of a finger jabbing his arm.
“Get up! It’s already morning!”
“Yes, Sister Delaine.”
…
…
…
Siyu wakes up and goes on to serve the customers, and then he went on to rest. This happened today, and it will continue tomorrow. There were regular customers and there were different travelers.
On his days off, Siyu tries to play with the kids at the orphanage, but there was usually other chores that kept him away.
As life continued to move forward, Siyu grew, and Siyu learned. And slowly, things started coming together in his mind. The characters, the story; they were slowly knitting together.
And Siyu began to feel things he thought he shouldn’t be feeling. He thought he could feel people’s emotions.
And Siyu began to hear things. He thought he started to hear the people’s truth.
And he began to see things. Siyu started to see people’s intentions.
The days continued to move forward, and life went on; Siyu's mind a little more muddled.
There was always tomorrow.
Siyu continues to grow, and Siyu continues to learn…
…
…
“What table is this for?” Siyu asks Prodder with a plate in his hands.
“Table three; sausages and eggs.” Prodder says nonchalantly, continuing to cook.

“What! That’s impossible! That person is surely a vegetarian!” Siyu exclaims in disbelief setting the plate back down.
“What? They told me that they want sausages and eggs.” Prodder states matter-of-factly, flipping a pancake.
“I’ll go ask,” Siyu says, heading towards the person at the table.
“Excuse me, sir,” Siyu says with a bow to the man with a beard, who was wearing a green robe.
“Yes, son. What is it?” The man responds, lifting his head slightly to look at Siyu.
“The chef told me you ordered sausages and eggs, but you are a vegetarian, so I was wondering if he was somehow mistaken.” Siyu says, trying to look harmless.
“Oh? I did indeed order the sausages and eggs, but you are correct; I am a vegetarian. The meal is for my pet goshawk.” The man says, crossing his arms.
“Oh,” Siyu says in a surprise, before bowing. “Then I apologize for bothering you, sir.” He says before intending to leave.
“Wait.” The green-robed man orders.
“Yes, sir,” Siyu says, lifting his head.
“How did you know I was a vegetarian?” The green-robed man asks as he strokes his beard in amusement.
“Oh, well. It’s embarrassing to say but… you move like a vegetarian.” Siyu says with a bitter grin. Although his mind understands how it works, saying it out loud just seemed dumb.
“Oh ho! I move like a vegetarian? What does that mean?” The man asks, leaning forward with interest.
“Ah,” Siyu says with a bitter laugh. “Don’t make fun of me mister, but your body is talking, and it told me that you’re a vegetarian.” He tries to explain.
The green-robed man laughs out loud. “Hahaha! So my body gave me away did it? Interesting, very interesting. What’s your name lad?” He asks with a smile.

“Siyu, sir,” He says with his head bowed. For some reason Siyu felt like he was in trouble.
“How did you learn this gift, lad.” The man asks, leaning forwards and resting a hand on his chin.
“I’m not sure, sir,” Siyu says, his head still bowed.
“Look into my eyes child.” The man says sternly, gesturing for Siyu to come closer.
Siyu lifts his head and look into the man's eyes; then, the world disappears and all Siyu sees is a green flame that envelops his body. “I see it.” A voice says. “You have a seed.”
Siyu blinks and sees the green-robed man still sitting before him.
“Child, you’re a cultivator.” The man says with a smile.
“What? You misunderstood, sir. I’m simply a waiter; I don’t follow a Cultivation Path.” Siyu says in confusion.
“No, child. You are a cultivator of the Earth Path. There’s an Earth Path seed in your mind.” The man states with a shake of his head. “Strange though; it doesn’t seem you have been properly introduced to your Cultivation Path. What happened at your Awakening Ceremony?” The man asks with his hand back on his chin.
“Sir, I’ve never had an Awakening Ceremony. I am a normal person.” Siyu says with a blank stare, telling the truth.
“Impossible; you’ve already awakened. Have you had any intense or strange dreams?” The man questions in disbelief.
“No, sir. I usually don’t have dreams. If I’ve had any dreams, I’d have forgotten them by the time I awake.” Siyu responds, trying to sound honest.
“Interesting, interesting.” The man says with a grin. “Then tell me, is there anything else you can do? You tell me you can hear my body, but what else do your senses tell you?” He asks, curious.
“Well,” I say, scratching my head in thought. “That patron over there with his companion. He isn’t interested in what his companion is saying; he seems to be thinking of a girl he knows. And although his companion is speaking of their plans, he seems to be complaining about something. I’m not sure what, possibly work, or maybe he sees that he’s not being paid attention to. I’m not sure; sometimes it’s clear to me, but sometimes when I actively try to hear, the meaning becomes faded.” Siyu tries to say.
“Interesting, interesting. Say, lad. I have a proposition for you. I’m in town because I’ve been asked to interrogate some people who are suspected of stealing a very precious item. I want you to come with me.” The man says with an unquestionable voice. “It’ll pay well.” He says enticingly.
“Sir, it is my duty to serve, but I’ll have to ask permission before I leave work,” Siyu says with reluctance.
“Hmm. Go on.” The man says, gesturing with his hand for Siyu to do my business.
Siyu could only turn away bitterly and find Prodder.
“He thinks you’re a cultivator?” Prodder asks with widened eyes.
“Yes. I don’t know where he got such a weird idea.” Siyu says, glancing over at the green-robed man.
“Best go on then. It’s not our place to question people like him.” Prodder says, patting Siyu with his right hand. “Don’t worry about work for now. I’ll find someone to fill in for you.” He says encouragingly.
“Yes, sir,” Siyu says in a defeated voice before walking back to the green-robed man.
The man packs the breakfast into a bag and begins to walk out of the restaurant, gesturing for Siyu to follow. Siyy resigns himself to his fate and walks forwards.

The Heretic Legion
Cover Art: Undead Master by Changling Assassin. Located at: http://fav.me/dbm60ex Used under license Creative Commons attribution non-commercial 3.0 per bottom right of the linked page. Summary: Just the story of a necromancer and his eventual army. Currently, the only major thing of note is a pretty fleshed out magic system. No set list of spells or specific incantations. Just rules similar to the laws of physics, within those laws you can do whatever is possible. Updates: I work Sunday thru Wednesday and updates tend to revolve around my scheduled days off. Currently, I release content as I feel it's ready for release because that's what I myself would prefer from an author. Warnings: This story is graphic. blood/necromancy magic that requires self-harm to use. explicit descriptions of sexuality. (though fairly tame outside of the marked chapters, at least compared to said chapters) and is generally darker in tone. If you're concerned you might start to read only to be turned off by these elements. See 7. Teetering on the Edge for an example of the graphic nature of violence or 9. Explicit Content for a fairly self-contained example of the most explicit of the sexual content.
