Marland Kingdom and Assassin

Alan's POV

We are going to reach Human Kingdom soon .

Yes we have finally crossed the forest and are very near a human kingdom.

We met few adventurers on our way back and some of them even thought we were lost children or abondoned children in the forest and offered their help but we refused.

I got to know that the nearest kingdom is called Marland kingdom.

To reach central continent, I must first properly know the route to there so I will also be extracting information in the kingdom .

We continued our journey for one more weak and finally we saw the gates to enter the kingdom.

We follow there and saw a queue there with guards checking their identity.

I forgot to bring any identification but I remember I didn't have any too.

Norton must be same.

Hmm.

Let's see what they say?

Our turn comes soon and the guard notices us and asks.

"Kid what were you doing outside the gates and where did you guys go ?"

"I and my little brother went to collect wood 🪵 near the forest as we didn't have any money left but sadly we didn't find any dry wood so we came back "

I said while making a sad face.

The guard looks at us in pity and said

" Here take this kid , thought I know it is not much but maybe it will help you a bit"

Saying so he handed me some bronze coins and let us enter

Haha. what a fool, I am richer than your entire family and how can he believe my lie so easily .

After we enter, we soon mix with crowds .

"Wait, how did they not get any dry wood 🪵, it is currently not the rainy season , shit they must have been scammers "

The guard could grit his teeth in frustration as he got fooled by kids.

Alan's POV

It's my first time to enter any kingdom in this world.

The buliding here looked like the buliding in late mediaeval period with a touch of modernity.

They looked quite beautiful,

The streets were bustling and various shops were selling various things.

I didn't let it show on my face but I was very excited and curious.

As for Norton , it looked like it was also his first time so he was pretty excited and was looking around curiously everywhere.

"Let's go and eat something first...it's been a while since I last ate like this "

"Yes Master!"

I search around and ask some people about good restaurants here and many of them suggested to go to a nearby tavern and we followed the directions and arrive at the restaurant

I enter the tavern with Norton behind me, I also got to know that they have inns so we will be staying here .

I went to the reception and saw a middle ages woman attending customers and travelers.

I go and ask

"What's the price for staying ?"

The woman looks down on us as we were small in height and looks surprised a bit but soon recovers her profesionalism when she saw the luggage we were carrying.

Oh and in honesty , the luggage we were carrying was anything but ordinary as we had many beast cores and other stuff like form the ruins.

Oh and that foolish guard didn't even notice our bags as I entered , haha .

Looks like he was too tired from job .

"It will 50 bronze for one night without food and 2 silvers with food included"

I nodded and handed her 14 silvers

She took them and guided us to our room.

It had two beds, two windows, one mini table and a wardrobe.

It was decent to stay .

We stayed and ate and then I told Norton that I am going to library here to gather information.

Now I am on my way to library and it's already Night 🌃 time but the crowds are still here and shopping and doing various things.

I arrive near a large building than others and it is the library of this kingdom.

I enter and went to receptionist and he said that I need to pay 1 silver to stay and read and to get books loaned I must pay the amount necessary.

I handed him 1 silver and went to the bookshelf and started reading various things I didn't knew.

Few hours later

I was so absorbed in reading books that I didn't notice the time and now it was past midnight.

It got quiet everywhere and no bustling sounds could be heard from the window seat near me and I saw everything got closed.

I gathered a lot of information that I didn't knew about

This Marland Kingdom is ruled by a royal family with surname Karnest

The king's name was Albert Karnest and he is currently 40 years old.

The royal family consists of His wife his son which is the crown prince 👑, second prince and a daughter which is princess.

The king is a Weapon Master with his main weapon as an Axe, he is portrayed to be good person and looking at the streets , he indeed had put in efforts.

I came to know that the Human Continent is Ruled by an Emperor, and the empire is called Vatlan Empire.

All the kingdoms are under it's territory.

The king here is estimated to be around Rank-5 Weapon Master.

'Hmm, he is indeed quite strong".

And I also came to know that if I want to go to Central Continent, either I have be an influential person, Royal, Noble or a B or above rank adventurer.or a wealthy Merchant etc.

Adventurers are fron D-Rank to SS Rank.

The other routes or ways to go are either I travel through sea or travel through the Dark-Forest .

The Dark -Forest is a Dangerous place where it is rumour that a Beast resides which has powers equal to that of a Rank-7 individual.

So even powerhouses of this world have to be careful when entering.

But the safest option is being an influential person as they can travel through a very safe passage that was made to central continent.

Hah, how discriminating, well what can I expected from Aristocracy.

Looks like I have to take dark forest .

I just came from a forest so it would be easier to adapt but before going in there I must first go to Holy Waterfall and i have found the location of that remote area where it was mentioned that Holy Waterfall was hidden .

I exit the library and was going back and it was eerily quiet everywhere and if I was my past self, I would have stayed in library overnight but now,

Haha ,

I was going back when suddenly I tilted my head and said

"Why are you hiding, isn't it time to come out?"

No response

Puhahahahaha

Man, how can there be any response if there was no one.

Yeah , I just wanted to say this line once as I was a itching a bit to say some dialogue like a cool movie actor.

I laughed and went back to my inn.

Unknown to Alan, after he left , in the dark alley, where he said those words ,

There was a black person in black clothes which blended perfectly with night 🌃 and he was sweating profusely.

He was an assassin who has been sent here in this kingdom to kill the Queen of this kingdom to threaten the king .

He had been told by his sender that he should be careful not to do anything unnecessary and was also told how fearsome and strong the king was but he was also a Rank-5 Weapon Master and Assassin at that which specialises in Daggers as main weapon.

He knew that the Queen was a Rank-4 human so he could kill her easily so he was just doing miscellaneous works of his work and was pretty confident when he came here in kingdom.

He was just now planning to commence his plan to kill the Queen 👑 but when he was going towards the palace, he heard some footsteps and saw Alan walking .

He was thinking what would a person do this late at night 🌃 and when he checked his Rank , he could not see it so he concluded that he was a normal human , the thought of him being a mage did not cross his mind because what would a Mage equal to his level be doing this late at night at the same place as him .

'I should just kill him '

Was what he thought and was just going to attack when that person abruptly stopped.

The assassin stoped and observed what Alan was doing and then suddenly Alan turned into his direction and gazed directly at the place where he was hiding and at the exact spot .

He got goosebumps and was planning to flee at this instant when he quickly thought that Alan might find him more easily and kill him if he saw him move.

He felt chills all over his body when suddenly he saw Alan's eyes 👁️ that were shining with mysterious light and was gazing at him.

They were looking straight at him with full accuracy.

He was trembling as he looked at his eyes that saw through his existence.

Then he heard Alan say,

""Why are you hiding, isn't it time to come out?""

So he got found out and this quickly, he did not even release his killing intent yet he got found out, just how strong is that person is what Assassin thought.

That was obviously also why he wasn't able to peer into him

But he was perplexed why was such a powerhouse in this backward kingdom.

All people above Rank-5 are considered top powerhouses of world as it is very difficult to advance after reaching Rank-5 and many people cannot reach next rank even in their lifetime after reaching Rank-5.

He regretted not doing his work at an earlier time and thought that this was his end.

He was going to come out and fight to his last breath even though he thought he had no chances of winning.

But at that moment Alan turned back and left.

The Assassin was confused as to why he would go now after finding him and without killing him.

But he concluded that it must be a Warning to him.

Definitely!

That powerhouse just warned him to not mess with the kingdom under his protection.

Otherwise why would he be here of all places where he was and at same time.

He thanked God that his life was saved and swore that he will definitely never come back here even if heavens told him so as to not face those fearsome eyes.

How could the poor Assassin know that Alan has just covered his eyes with mana and that's why it shined due to his multiple element affinity and as for reason why it looked fearsome was because he had just returned from wild with a lot of killing so he still had those eyes which he used to scare away beasts.

The assassin felt such exaggerated fear because his location was found accurately and he was unable to see Alan's rank due to his mana and ki both and that's why he thought of him as a powerhouse in hiding.

If only Alan knew that he just saved this Kingdom's Queen and a lot of schemes that were going to happen if she died.

Oh and the Queen was currently in process of advancement to Rank-5 and that is why, it was such a perfect time to send assassin.

"ACHOO!!"

"Master! Did you catch cold ?"

"Hmm, maybe "

"You should rest and leave everything to me"

Norton said with shining eyes

"Haha it's nothing but just a cold, so no need to get so worked up"
