《Path of the Lilies》24. If I can Endure, I want to Watch

The cold voice filled with killing intent jolted Ye Jiao awake from her daydream. She glanced up only to see the leader was staring at her. The boundless energy around him signified that this man was at the peak of rank 3.
She was already familiar with rank 3 aura thanks to her father, so she recognized it easily.
“I…”
The leader furrowed his brows. “Answer my question!”
“I’m Ye Jiao!” Ye Jiao answered in an instant. The force from the man made her replied his question quicker than what she thought.
Ye Jiao?
Not only him, even his subordinates were stunned to hear this young girl said that name. In the entire capital of Chen Kingdom, who didn’t know that Ye Jiao is the name of the useless trash that came from a talented genius.
What made them even more confused was the fact that Ye Jiao appeared in their training ground. Normal people shouldn’t’ be able to come here, much less someone without talent. However, this place was right in the middle of the training ground, which made it hard for people to sneak inside deeper.
“What are you doing here?”
“I-I just want to take a look,” Ye Jiao replied after thinking for a bit. It was partially true because she came here to look at them and learnt their technique if possible.
Of course, without getting found out.
“General Mu, shall I kick this insolent kid?” one of the soldiers approached their leader. His face showed disgust and annoyance. He didn’t like the trash and moreover, someone as brave as Ye Jiao. This girl clearly didn’t know her place.
Their leader, General Mu, glanced at his subordinates. “Continue practicing.”
“Sir!” the soldier corrected his posture and returned back to practice. The cold tone that General Mu used was exceptionally indifferent tinged with threat for him to do it immediately.

Ye Jiao looked at the person before her. General Mu? There was only one person came to her mind when she heard this name. Mu Hong, a general at peak rank 3. In terms of strength, only Ye Xiao was above him among the rank 3, which granted him a high position in military.
Under Wei Shang, no one else could beat this man in terms of position.
“Ye Jiao, you violate military law.”
“What military law, General Mu?” Ye Jiao asked with confusion. She didn’t know there was any law of that kind in this place. After all, both her parents were not military people, so they never told her.
“Unauthorized personnel are not allowed to step into the training grounds, or you’ll be punished heavily,” Mu Hong clearly looked annoyed.
He was busy training his men, but this girl appeared suddenly. He noticed this girl when she climbed down the tree thanks to his high perception. At that time, he ordered his men to start sparring with one another before approaching the young girl.
“I didn’t know that.”
“Do you think that your ‘I didn’t know’ will help you escape punishment?” Mu Hong asked coldly.
Ye Jiao knew that she had met someone who followed after the rules so strictly. She blamed herself for not being careful enough. If only she didn’t act rash, they wouldn’t have found out her presence in this place. Well, she didn’t really have any confidence to fool a rank 3 Eon Energy Master, though.
“You can choose to be kicked out or walk out by yourself,” Mu Hong gave her the choices.
Some soldiers were secretly scoffing to themselves. Their leader was too soft with these people. If it was them, they would have kicked out Ye Jiao without listened to the girl’s explanation. In their eyes, trash would always be trash.

Ye Jiao’s heart sunk. She knew that this man would never allow her to come here again in the future. But she wanted to learn more. Just training her physical body was not enough. She needed the experience and training to learn basic self-defense, much more than what her father had taught her.
“Please wait, what’s the punishment for trespassing?”
Mu Hong furrowed his brows. “It’s beaten up with the military rod 30 times. Don’t waste my time, little girl.”
“I have one proposal!” Ye Jiao hurriedly said. “If I can endure the punishment, please let me stay here to watch the practice.”
Mu Hong listened to Ye Jiao’s words as if he was listening to an idiot. This brat clearly didn’t have any Eon Energy in her body as he couldn’t sense any. If she decided to be beaten up by the military rod, she would surely die because of the power behind each strike.
Even the soldiers were thinking that this brat has gone insane. They themselves never wanted to be punished with the military rod because of how hard they were. Being beaten up was not a small matter.
“Little girl, don’t waste my time.”
“I’m serious!” Ye Jiao replied strongly, her gaze was filled with determination.
Looking at the stubborn little girl in front of him, Mu Hong was feeling slightly astounded. Even among the soldiers, there were not many people who would willingly take the punishment just because they wanted to ‘see’ the training.
However, her gaze told him everything.
This girl is desperate. Even though Ye Ai Xia could teach her martial arts, it would be completely different than the military because Ye Ai Xia was not good at physical combat. The only place she could try to study martial arts would be the military training camp, but it wouldn’t be easy to gain the approval.
Because she has the tag of useless on her head.
Mu Hong had seen a lot of soldiers. He knew that the more desperate someone, the more they would force themselves forward.
“Alright, brat, you’re the one who ask for it.”
