《Path of the Lilies》51. Preparation for Summer Festival (2)

“What are you doing loitering around here?”
The sound was light and melodious, creating ease to whoever heard it. However, the sharp tone tinged with displeasure made them aware that the owner was not in a good mood.
Ye Jiao turned her head and saw a young girl around the age of 13 standing not too far from her. Her long dark brown hair fluttered along with the wind. Her sharp gaze told others that she was not someone to be trifled with, yet her beautiful face would surely attract others to her. Just standing in front of this girl caused a sense of pressure in Ye Jiao’s body.
Her brows furrowed slightly. She could see that this girl looked slightly younger than Wei Cheng, but her disposition and power didn’t seem to be lacking in the slightest compared to him.
“Miss Wei Yin,” the servants quickly bowed down.
Hearing the name, Ye Jiao realized who this woman was. She was Wei Shang’s first daughter and also the second child in this family. Wei Yin was only a year younger than Wei Cheng, but the two of them reached rank 1 almost at the same time not long ago. That achievement confirmed further that this Wei Yin has greater talent than Wei Cheng.
Wei Yin nodded her head. Her eyes held no emotion as she glanced to Ye Jiao. “Who are you?”
“My name is Ye Jiao, Miss Wei Yin,” Ye Jiao replied somberly.
“What are you doing here?” Wei Yin had heard Ye Jiao’s name a few times, especially from the annoying duo. From them, she knew that Ye Jiao should have stayed in Ye Ai Xia’s residence most of the time and was unable to get out if it was unnecessary.
Ye Jiao pointed to the kitchen. “I want to ask for our meal today to be exchanged for some ingredients.”

Wei Yin remembered that tomorrow would be the Summer Festival. She could guess that this little girl wanted the ingredients because she wanted to celebrate it with Ye Ai Xia.
“Just give it to her and don’t create a commotion. It’s time for breakfast,” Wei Yin said coldly.
The servants hurriedly nodded their heads. “We’ll do as you say, Miss.”
As they scampered to fetch the food and other items, Wei Yin was not bothered in the slightest. She turned around and left without glancing at the others at all. In her eyes, they seemed to be nonexistent.
“Many thanks for your help, Miss Wei Yin.”
However, Wei Yin didn’t even glance in Ye Jiao’s direction anymore as if she didn’t hear it. Ye Jiao knew that the other party heard it, but she took no offense. For someone as high as Wei Yin, her existence must be nothing worth of her time.
‘So, that’s what it feels to face a rank 1 who hadn’t controlled their strength well,” Ye Jiao could remember the faint pressure she felt. It was not unbearable, but it made her looked up at the girl a bit because of her young age and disposition.
Because of her power and ability, no one dared to slight her in the slightest.
Ye Jiao shook her head and tried not to think too much. Even though that girl kind of helping her, she has never even met with Wei Yin before. This might just be a little coincidence and unintended act on the other party’s part. Still, she would surely remember the kindness Wei Yin gave to her.
Turning her body around, Ye Jiao strode on the road back to her residence. She wanted to tell her mother first.
“Mom, I manage to ask them to change the meal,” Ye Jiao reported right after she arrived by the door. Her eyes widened when she saw her mother was already busy cooking.

“That’s good, Jiao’er.”
“Mom, where does this food come from?”
Ye Ai Xia smiled brightly. “It comes from yesterday’s meal and some meat that your father left for us before. There are still some of them left, so we’re going to eat this today.”
“I’ll prepare the plates first, then,” Ye Jiao moved to the counter.
“Be careful, Jiao’er.”
“Yes, Mom.”
…
After breakfast, Ye Jiao spent the rest of her time studying and practicing. Thanks to her training with Mu Xin, her body has grown far stronger compared with ordinary people. This would surely be a great help for her if she wanted to reach rank 1.
“My progress feels slow,” Ye Jiao sighed to herself. She glanced at her own arm. “Well, I guess I’m the one who’s impatient.”
If other people found out how she has filled the place for her core full with Eon Energy, they would surely think of her as a monster. Unfortunately, Ye Jiao doesn’t feel satisfied. She still could pull more Eon Energy into her core, pushing it together in her abdomen. Until she couldn’t pull more Eon Energy, she wouldn’t be able to form her core.
Without the core, she couldn’t start training Eon Energy.
Ye Jiao sighed to herself as she lay on the grass. Right now, she was staying inside the small forest, not far from the residence. This forest was filled with nature that she loved so much. Beads of sweat from her training stained her shirt.
“Let’s just pull more Eon Energy here.”
Not willing to move from her position, Ye Jiao closed her eyes and started to feel her surroundings. It has been a long time since the last time she practiced pulling Eon Energy to her body while she was lying down. After all, her mother forced her to do it when she was sitting to make it more stable.
The warm light around her entered her body bit by bit as Ye Jiao sped up her power. It was as warm as she could remember and before long, she fell asleep again.
“Jiao’er,” Ye Ai Xia sighed when she saw her daughter sleep on the grass again. She wondered what Ye Xiao taught this girl to make her love to sleep outside.
“Mhm,” Ye Jiao’s body stirred. Her eyelashes fluttered open as she saw her mother’s face right in front of her. “Mom.”
“What did I say about sleeping outside?”
“Uh, I’ll catch a cold if I do it too often,” Ye Jiao scratched her head.
Ye Ai Xia crossed her arm. “It’s good that you remember. Let’s go home and have an early dinner. You need to sleep early because tomorrow we’re going to wake up early.”
“Why early, Mom?”
“We’re going to make the dumplings in the morning,” Ye Ai Xia explained. “But because I have competition in the morning, we have to push the schedule up even earlier.”
“Can’t we do it after the competition, Mom?” Ye Jiao asked with hopeful expression. She doubted that she could fall asleep again after sleeping for a long time.
Ye Ai Xia shook her head. She also wanted to have their time together at night, but she was worried that those people would pull some trick on her. If she got wounded or anything, she might not be able to accompany Ye Jiao.
“No, we’re going to do it in the morning.”
“Awww,” Ye Jiao muttered. “Ok, I’ll wake up very early for you, Mom.”
“Good girl.”
“Hehe.”

Berries, Boars, and a Boy (A How to Train Your Dragon Fanfiction) (Snotlout/OC)
