《Manablood Mellie》Chapter 38: Beer Pong

Continuing the journey without Jackson made Mellie feel less safe, but Mary and Henry were accompanying her to meet the king, her father in law. How she was going to explain the whole story, she was still working out. "Telling the King of a country that you fucked and ate his son before birthing a questionably monstrous grandson sounded like a pretty good way to get decapitated." Mellie exclaimed to her friends.
"Well, there are machines that can read her status, and the king had them with his inquisitors. Fortunately Black Widow was a curse, not a title. They would only know she had the Queen title. She never recieved the widow title, so explaining his death would be impossible." Henry stated.
"Say he ran off with some whore. Left you jilted with an egg to raise." Mary suggested.
"But the whole point of this was to tell the King his son died." Mellie said, frustrated.
"No. The whole point of this was to see if your child could have a foothold in this world. A family. And I think he will." stated Mary. She hadn't even known the man and now she was having his child. She had no idea what kind of man his father was, or if this child would even be welcome. She had asked her companions, but they hadn't known the king or his demenor. It was enough to drive a woman mad. Her egg was a little larger than a big mac box, and she had to make a larger sack to drape over her bag of holding. As it grew it got heavier, which didn't bother Mellie, but every time it grew it threw her slightly off balance.
Walking into The Hobble Hole there were a group of dwarves and a group of hairy feeted little men, and a splattering of elves that stopped talking and looked at the new group. A beautiful elven woman approached Mary with tears in her eyes and said, "Oh honey, your ear. You must have had a hard go of it. I'm Janet. Come on, let me get you all a beer. Martin! Three beers for our guests!" the old barmaid said, smiling.

"Actually can you tell us where Derk is? We need to speak with him." said Mary.
"We will take those beers though!" added Henry. Mellie laughed in agreement.
Janet nodded and went to bar to grab the beers, whispering and gesturing angrily at the dwarven barman. He went to the back of the pub and Janet brought the group their beers. Mellie took a swig of hers and just winced. It tasted like drinking a 40oz Olde English. She looked at her friends and realized that this was going to be the standard beer for this world. She held her beer and willed it to be an IPA. She took a sip and smiled. Passing the beer to Mary, she watched as her face lit up in wonder. "Mellie, what is this!" she said as she began drinking faster. Henry grabbed the beer from Mary and raised his eyebrows as he downed the rest. Will of a Savior lvl 27!
The patrons of The Hobble Hole took note of the girl changing the taste of the brew. An Elven man walked up and handed her his beer, "Can you do mine?" he asked.
"If you buy me a beer, I'll make you one." And this is how Mellie leveled her Will of a Savior to lvl 50. She had to take at least one sip of each beer to make it hers so she decided to introduce some new games to the patrons of The hobble hole. Flip cup was a success, if not expensive for replacing the broken glass, but the Tavern owner was delighted at the new form of entertainment we had introduced. Derk came in from the barn nextdoor to Mellie constructing pong balls for beer pong. He began frantically tasting all the beers around the room as people talked about how great the bar was today. Most patrons that visited lived or hunted on the outskirts of town, or lived in the mountains. Essentially this was a practice brewery for the dwarves to test new recipes. They had amazing wines and whiskeys and some decent ales but they aimed for perfection. And today this brewmaster was being introduced to Earths' finest concoctions. His mind was reeling with possibilities of the future.

By the end of the night Mary had situated employment at the Tavern, as well as compensation for recipe ideas she had provided throughtout the night. Provided with rooms, the trio decided to stay the night at the inn. Taking a break from camping for a nice meal and a comfortable bed was welcome. It had been a long time since any of them hadn't been chased. Mellie's humanlike status didn't seem to alarm anyone, probably because she accompanied two unshackled elves. The night was full of laughter and fun and the night was a safe and restful one. Something each of them had missed.
The morning came with a trade. Mellie made some hops overnight and traded them and a couple casks of hazehoney mead for Mary's much needed fermenting spell, a few status obscurment charms, and a box of reglar wine and whiskey. Setting off to the city gates, Mellie prepared herself to face her father in law. Hopefully he would like some of the dwarven goods she had traded for. Her egg had grown to the side of a basketball, and carrying it was beginning to become awkward. Approaching the gates, the elves looked at Marys ear and then at Mellie and drew their swords.
