《Apocalypse》Episode 38: A Vision Of Hell

Amidst the huge fireball that engulfed the junction across from Kings Cross Station we could see the surrounding buildings were equally affected. In the initial blast hundreds of windows in the surrounding buildings shattered from the concussion wave, and glass windows were continuing to shatter amidst the roiling waves of heat blowing away from the area funnelled up narrow streets.
The fire bombs that had been dropped were now causing secondary issues with surrounding buildings catching alight, and even as we watched we could see the flames spread as they licked across connecting buildings.
This area of London had clearly been deemed as lost by the authority figures. I thought back to the residents who had looked down at us from their upper floor windows. They were half a mile away from the blast zone, but how long until the next blast zone was just a quarter mile away? And how long then until the flames would be lapping at their own front doors.
A huge cloud of smoke now hung over this part of London and the lighting in the street began to dim as the smoke obscured the light from the sun. We covered our nose and mouth with our hand to stop from choking, and moved onwards away from this location.
We found ourselves heading towards Grays Inn Road. I did not want to veer back towards Holborn and Central London so we decided to follow as far as Chancery Lane and from there we would go on to Farringdon, Barbican and further East to London Liverpool Street.
I retained a vague hope that we would encounter an official staging area at one of these transport hubs. Some indication that the authorities had some semblance of control to warrant the optimism expressed by the government response on the radio yesterday evening.

Under the darkened smoke filled skies it was like night was beginning to fall. And this scared me. We only moved during the day so we could see the enemy from afar, and so we did not get caught unawares.
My senses were now heightened, and I was pleased to see Mina had also shaken off the shroud that had hung over her since the supermarket, and that she was equally sharp right now, and scanning our surroundings. I pulled my knife and we walked quickly and decisively towards our next location.
Up ahead we could hear footsteps running towards us, and through the darkening light we saw several of the young lads from the marauding mob we witnessed just minutes earlier. They looked shaken and scared, and behind them we saw why. There were fast zombies, and many of them. Myself and Mina turned around and began to run back from where we come.
As the fire consumed vista of Kings Cross junction loomed back in to view I threw away our plastic bag of supplies as me and Mina ran helter skelter towards a vision of hell.
