《NEET No More》Chapter 4: Heroes and magic

Author's Note
Some fiction dedicate entire chapters to describe their world. From the creation of the world up to the setting of the story. Some of these are really good.Others are like here's a list of facts that'll come up in my story eventually. So i was conflicted on how to describe my world to you readers.I'm no poet and i just didn't want to lay down all these facts and say here remember all this because it will come up in the story So i decided our mc would be just as ignorant of the world as the readers. The more he learns the more you learn
Also what is love?
As always reviews, ratings,Recommendations,Corrections,Questions and comments are greatly appreciated

Chapter 4:Heroes and magic
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Recently my brother Herbert has started practicing magic. As soon as he learned that he could use magic to impress the ladies he frantically worked to use magic.
However we had only two books regarding the topic of magic.
One was strangely similar to the for dummies series from my world. It contained the incantations for the simplest of magic. These magic spells were used for everyday household chores. The fire spell was no different than a lighter. With the water spell it was the equivalent of a squirt gun. The wind spell was used to dust furniture. It was like a little vacuum. The earth spell simply made holes in the ground but as expected of a genius Herbert started using voiceless incantations.
Voiceless incantations were considered less powerful than when you used incantations. However that only applied to the average person.
The average human could not use offensive magic as they had very low mana ability. If a person were to train they could improve their mana capacity but no matter how hard one would work it would never compare to the mana capacity of one with talent.

So most practitioners of magic rely on rechargeable wands, you replace the mana crystal like a battery. You could recharge your current stone or put in a new stone in your wand, staves and staffs.
Warlocks get their power from contracts from demons and spirits. Or One could gather mana from the environment, souls or they could buy mana from sorcerers.
Sorcerers could refill their mana in couple of hours; instantly if one had an elixir. Thus those with the capability to become sorcerers were fairly rich.
The other book explained the main ranks of mages.
At the lowest were the magicians who specialized in illusions. They were no different than our own world’s magicians. They were hustlers and con men.
A rank above them was the mages who could use regular magic yet had to rely on rechargeable wands. After a mage gained experience they could be considered an archmage.
Archmages had battle experience which made them able to hold their own against sorcerers.
Then there were those gifted with huge amounts of mana on par with some elves. The sorcerers; they did not need wands as they were walking mana generators. Their power is greatly feared.
Mages that chose to research and teach magic are called wizards. They usually seclude themselves. However some become teachers of magic theory.
Thus there were many different types of schools. One taught offensive, defensive and support magic.
While another school taught magical theory which included things such as magic artifacts.
There was also a third school which was rarely sought after.
The warlocks were mages who had made contracts with spirits or demons. While most spirits were playful some could be dangerous. Demons were also known to possess their contractors.
These schools are only the ones that were talked about in the book but There were many schools of magic. There were schools who taught witches, enchanters, summoners, and druids. However I lack information about any of them.

Herbert and I were hanging out around a stream that was fairly close to the village of porahi.
”So what are you gonna do when your 10 bro.”
“Mmm well I’ll attend magic academy filled with magical girls.”
“And then ill travel the world as an adventurer and be a badass hero” said Herbert
“But why an adventurer, isn’t scary?” I asked.
I never once thought of becoming an adventurer. Travelling sucked and adventurers had early graves
“You know what they say lil bro, Heroes get the harems.”
As I thought about what my brother had said. Screams could be heard from the village.
Herbert and I ran to investigate.
When we arrived we came to a scene of destruction.
It seemed one of the elephants had escaped the training grounds. The elephant was rampaging destroying houses left and right.
One could see why the elephant was rampaging.
A lone tiger was attempting to kill the elephant. The tiger had probably spooked the elephant in to a rampage.
I was frozen with fear. We had to run and get some of the elephant tamers or the hunters. If we didn’t stop that animal now who knows how many people will get hurt if not killed.
But yet I could not move.
Herbert however jumped in to action.
He casted twin fireballs and launched them. Each fireball aimed towards both animals.
Both animals ran away towards the jungle. As soon as the animals had started to flee some hunters and elephant tamers had arrived carrying spears and machetes.
“Why did you try and be a hero?” I asked my brother
“There was neither princess nor beautiful woman to be saved, Their was no reward for being a hero”
My brother looked me in the eyes and said
“Because it’s the right thing to do.” As he started walking away
My brother is so cool I thought
Herbert’s Pov
“But why an adventurer, isn’t scary?” asked my little brother.
Of course it’s scary. In truth I’m afraid of even leaving this village,
But I have to act cool in front of my brother.
“You know what they say lil bro, Heroes get the harems.”
As I said that screams came from the village.
I ran to investigate with edin in tow
When we arrive there was a bigass elephant pimp slapping houses.
Behind it, a fucking tiger.
I peed myself a little.
But my little brother is here. I’m the oldest I have to be reliable.
I tried imagining two giant fireballs and it worked. In each hand I had a fireball.
I have to protect my little brother I screamed in my mind as I threw both fireballs.
Both animals ran away as help had arrived
Hahaha fuck yeah I yelled in my mind
I was shaking. That was too fucking scary
“Why did you try and be a hero?” asked my little brother
To look badass I thought
“Because it’s the right thing to do.” I said as I walked away
I must look pretty cool right now.
I gotta get home before edin finds that I pissed myself.
Luckily edin never noticed his brother pissing himself nor the fact that he was shaking. All edin saw at that time was a hero

my first story ^U^
author note: yaaa hurray it’s my first story ^U^ i hope you all like it! all characters belong to my special friends who submitted them!!ok heres the first chapter enjoy ^U^ TL note: Some of you may be wondering why I am translating a story written originally in English, to English. I remember reading this story many years ago, as a teen, and had since dismissed it as a bizarre fever dream. Only recently, through much Googling, did I manage to rediscover it, and as such decided to not only read it again, but fix the author’s many typing issues and share the context of what I remember from its original happening. I believe the story underneath to hold deeper meanings than its strange happenings, but at minimum I hope you will appreciate it for the sheer weirdness of it all. For the best experience, skim it for your first reading and, if you are interested, read more deeply the second time. Some typing is left as-is to preserve what I believe to be authorial intent, or at least necessary effect. If you notice any typing issues I managed to miss, please email them to me at [email protected]
