Some of you liked my fight scene others found it hard to follow I'll work on it.

The sides-stories wont be a common occurrence only when I feel it necessary.

Chapter 11: Aftermath

Lucy Blanche thought all boys were stupid. More like she was just too smart for her own age.

Then she met Edin when she was five. You could say it was love at first sight but Lucy didn't want just a pretty face as her husband. Lucy wanted a person just as smart as her. Lucy’s dream was to own a successful business empire together with her future husband. So she played the game she always played when she met new people. Then something surprising happened. Edin figured out that she was rigging the game. That was it he was the one.

Lucy however was still a little a girl and thus had no idea how to treat Edin so naturally she bullied him. Edin didn't take it sitting down and somehow they became enemies. Lucy regretted her behavior when Edin left. So she vowed that the next time she saw Edin she would change.

Lucy was handling her father’s shop when she saw some commotion outside. Then her father opened the door to the shop

“Lucy pack everything from the safe!” Screamed her father

“Why!?” asked Lucy

“An army from Yamato is coming this way,” answered her father

“Hurry we have to go to your mother’s shop in Naoni,”

Lucy’s mother managed the store that the family owned in the Port town of Naoni

Lucy helped her father pack all their valuables on to their two horses.

They then mounted their horses and trotted off. Along the way Lucy met Divya who was riding an elephant along with her aunt.

“Divya have you seen anyone from Hawk’s nest.”

“No,” answered Divya

Both girls were worried for their friends as they rode to the port town of Naoni

Edin’s POV

Edin entered Hawk’s nest, He was scared of what he’d find. Edin’s worst fears became true. His father’s decapitated corpse was holding the body of what looked like his mother’s corpse. Lilith’s and Allison’s parents were also included in the pile of corpses. Lilith and Allison were holding each other with their necks cut and Sue’s mangled corpse still held on to her Katana.

Edin woke up from his nightmare while panting heavily. Edin calmed down and noticed he was lying in his own bed and resting their head on the bed was none other than his sister Sue.

Edin’s hand reached for the sleeping Sue’s face. She was here oh god thank you thought Edin as he started crying and hugging his sleeping sister.

Sue woke up to a crying Edin and simply kept quietly while Edin calmed down.

“You’re wearing your necklace,” said Edin

“Yeah I found it outside with one of the corpses,”

“Is that so,” said Edin

Just then Allison came in followed by her older sister Lilith

Both girls hugged Edin

“Were glad you’re OK,”

"Where were you guys?” asked Edin

“We hid in the tunnels, don’t worry only we know” whispered sue

“How long was I out?” asked Edin

“Half a day,” answered Edin’s mother who was standing in the doorway.

“Ok girls get out he has to wipe himself clean and get dressed,” said Edin’s Mother

“Why?” asked Edin

“You’re going to have breakfast with the king of the Ganeleon kingdom and the head of the Nagayoshi clan,”

“Oh,” said Edin

“Where’s dad?” asked Edin

His mother looked down

“We don’t know,” answered Edin’s mother

“I see,”

After everyone left his room, Edin was sitting on his bed simply thinking that he had no idea what happened. He noticed that his left leg and right forearm were bandaged. Although someone had used healing magic to seal up the wounds.

The only other practitioners of magic were his mother and Sue. Mana stones were expensive so he figured sue was probably the one who healed him.

He was only ten years old and he had more life lessons than he did in his old life.

Edin cleaned himself and got dressed to eat breakfast.

When he arrived to the dining room Edin saw a knight in full plate armor standing at the side of the doorway.

Everyone was already seated. The dining room table seated up to 8 people more if a few chairs were brought in. The king who looked like he was in his thirties had blonde hair that reached to his shoulders. The king was seated at one end of the table to his right sat Lord Nagayoshi.

Edin’s Grandfather Thomas Jackson the third was seated at the other end of the table. This was usually where his dad sat but Edin assumed that he was to sit here as his mother was seated to his left and sue seated to his right.

Being the eldest male available meant His grandfather was the Head of the House.

“Are you well?” asked Lord Nagayoshi

“Yes well other than a headache I’m fine, rather I should be asking what you’re doing here Lord Nagayoshi?” asked Edin

“Ah well you probably didn't know but there was a force of 5000 behind the smaller force of 200 that I had the pleasure of defeating with 7000 of my men,” said Lord Nagayoshi

“Oh how did that go?” Asked Edin’s Grandfather

“Well I had my Calvary go down the middle and split their army in half after that it was a simple slaughter,” said Lord Nagayoshi

“How many men did you lose?” asked Edin

“Somewhere around 2000 men,” answered Lord Nagayoshi

“And the Umura clan how many men did they lose?” asked Edin

“Ah well around 2000,” answered Lord Nagayoshi

“And that’s a slaughter?” asked Edin innocently

“Yes well they had a competent commander,” said Lord Nagayoshi

“ after breakfast say goodbye to your family and we’ll go back to the clan castle,”instructed Lord Nagayoshi

“I’m sorry what?” asked Edin surprised

“I said …”

“I believe my grandson heard you but the agreement you had with my son is void.” Interrupted Edin”s Grandfather

“You offered us protection and in exchange we provided you with free timber and elephants but as you can see you obviously failed to keep your part of the agreement,” said Edin”a Grandfather

“I don’t believe you’re in a position to refuse.” Said Lord nagayoshi

Damn it he’s right thought Edin

“Its fine I can always ask my parents for help,” said Edin’s mother

“Ah yes I remember Your Lady Madelynne second daughter of the great House of Dragkagua,” Said The king

“There are other options,” Said King Adequin

“You’re quite right in declining This Lord’s offer,” said the King

“Thus I propose a similar offer,”

“Well basically I’ll have Edin become Myles’s squire, In return I offer the protection of the Ganeleon kingdom so if anybody attacks Hawk’s nest it’d be like attacking my own kingdom.”

“But were still not part of your kingdom?” asked Edin’s Grandfather

“Correct,” answered the king

“I think it’s up to Edin to decide,” said Edin’s grandfather

“I’ll think about it,” said Edin

“Well then thank you for breakfast,” said Lord Nagayoshi as he stormed out.

“Well I’ll be going as well, if you decide to accept my offer go to the palace and hand them this letter,” said King Adequin as He handed Edin a letter with The King’s seal

“Well then I’ll see you at the palace if you should accept of course,” said the king as he stood up and left

“Grandpa what do we do?” asked Edin

“I have no idea,” said his grandfather

Edin Now had four options

Option A: Become a squire to a knight in sevice to the king

Option B: Ask his Grandparents for help

Option C: or go back as a hostage to Lord Nagayoshi

No Edin remembered his high school days. His Geometry teacher Mr. Harrison at one point got mad at a couple of Students who were interrupting his class.

“Why are you here in my class!?” asked Mr.Harrison

“Cuz I have to be here, it’s like the law,”

Smartass thought Edin at that time

“You don’t have to do anything, you don’t have to come to school, there’s always that option of doing nothing”

That’s right Edin had a fourth Option

Option D: He could do nothing

Oh how Edin wanted option D but Edin knew that if he did nothing the chances of him having a happily ever after were almost nonexistent

Edin had people depending on him,Edin had never had such a responsibility. He would not fail.

“Mom maybe visiting my grandparents might be a good idea,” Edin told his mother

“I’ll make preparations,” said Edin’s mother

“Right then Edin come along we have to check on the condition of the plantation and the village,”Said Edin’s Grandfather

“Right behind you grandpa,” said Edin

As Edin and his grandfather stepped out of Hawk’s Nest

“Ah Elder Freestone I did as you said and managed to call all the villagers back,” said Inder

Inder was the 19 year old brother of Divya and son of Sahir

“Ah marvelous, Inder fetch me and my grandson some horses,”

As Inder left to fetch the horses

“Grandpa our foreman is dead,” said Edin

“Sadly that’s true,”

“Well I just thought Inder would make a great foreman,”

“He certainly is a good candidate,” said Edin’s grandfather neither agreeing nor disagreeing with edin’s Idea

After a few minutes Inder returned with 3 horses. One for each person

As Edin and company trotted along the village analyzing the damage they encountered the old drunk of a ninja Amano Shinji looking through the corpses

“Ah Shunji have you found my son,” asked Grandpa Freestone

“No sorry still no sign of him, last time anybody saw him he was hunting in the jungle im on my way now to take a look,” answered Shunji

“Please do sensei,” said Edin

“Ah Edin good to see you still alive and don’t worry I’ll continue looking,” said Shunji as he headed towards the jungle

As Edin followed His grandfather and Inder he spotted two of his friends

“Divya and Lucy I’m glad you’re both alright,” said Edin

“Edin!?What are you doing here!?” Asked both girls startled

“Ah well as soon as I found out about a likely attack I came as fast as I could,” said Edin

“So you’ll be staying here now?” asked Divya excitedly

Edin figured she still didn’t know about her father

“I doubt it, Hawk’s nest is still not safe unless we ask help from somebody with a big enough army,” said Edin

“Edin!Let’s go!” yelled Edin’s grandfather

“Coming!” answered Edin back

“Well I’ll see you guys later,” said Edin as he rode away

“Yeah bye,”

“Later”

“Inder how many people did we lose?” asked Grandpa Freestone

“ah well not many apart from my father and Glen a couple of other hunter and elephant riders, around six in total” answered Inder while looking sad

“If not for glengain buying time for the villagers well things would have been different,”

“Inder does Divya know?” asked Edin

“I haven’t the courage to tell her yet,” said Inder

“Is that so,”

The next day a funeral was held for all the people who had died

Divya was crying while the girls tried to comfort her

They had cleaned up all the corpses and rubble yet Edin’s father was still missing.Edin was sad but he could not cry.Apparently his teacher glengain had gotten married and was having a baby together with Divya’s aunt.

The next day after saying his goodbyes yet again Edin and his mother went to the port town of naoni from there they would take a ship to the Ganeleon kingdom
