《Life of the dark god》Chapter 22 Invader

“What should I think of this? A single house in the middle of this huge island.”(Me)
It was hard to believe if I’d ever want to tell someone about it. At the same time, it looked funny. Like a single tree in the middle of a huge field, just that there was no field, but only wasteland and the tree was an old house.
Without further thoughts, I opened the door of the ghost house. It seemed old and it even made a horrifying creak when I moved the door.
“Sigh. Obviously even the furniture is completely rundown.”(Me)
The first thing I noticed was the furniture in a room that looked like an entrance hall. When I saw it, I thought that it was close to a miracle that the house itself still stood and hadn’t collapsed yet.
“Hello? Is someone at home? I’m coming in now.”(Me)
I waited a short moment for some kind of reply. There was none. Well, I didn’t think anyone would still be there anyways. I finally entered and as soon as I did, the door closed itself behind me.
“Hm? Is this some kind of magic?”(Me)
A normal person would have freaked out already, but I had nothing to fear, so I could still think rationally. It was dark and hard to see right after the light disappeared. I waited until my eyes had adjusted to the darkness and started to search the house afterwards.
The doors were made out of wood and some of them were destroyed, while some others remained in a rather good shape. I boldly entered some rooms, but everywhere most of the things were either destroyed or damaged to an extent were identifying them were impossible.
Sometimes, I was able to recognise a wardrobe, a bed or some basic furniture, but everything else was impossible. I took my time in the first two rooms, in order to thoroughly search for anything still intact and useful, but it was a wasted effort.

The house was bigger than expected. In one of the rooms, I found a staircase leading upwards and there was another one going down.
“Should I go up or down?”(Me)
I went upstairs and skimmed through everything one the first floor. It was no good. It was the same situation, wherever I went. After I went up, I took the stairs downwards.
“Sigh. More destroyed rooms.”(Me)
The only difference was that I found something similar to a bookshelf in one of the rooms, but obviously, there were no books. I was a little bit depressed after I went back to the basement. I could sigh as much as I wanted, it wouldn’t help in my situation.
From the staircase room in a corner I suddenly heard the creaking of the front door. I knew it was none of us who came this far, so it had to be a stranger who entered as well.
“Whoever broke into my house, come out and show yourself!”(?)
After the door was opened, I heard the voice of a young girl. It was hard to tell the age just based on her voice, but she couldn’t be over ten years old.
I headed to the entrance hall to see the owner of the voice.
Black?
I just went through the remains of a door and it happened in less than a second. I only saw some of her hairs and she was already on my back, holding her nails against my neck.
“Identify yourself.”(?)
She ordered me in a monotonous voice. I was neither surprised nor scarred. I knew, either she was extremely fast or it was some kind of unknown magic. I have already experienced both, so I calmly answered her.
“Shouldn’t you introduce yourself, before asking for another’s name?”(Me)

“Shut up. I’m the one asking the questions.”(?)
I could stay calm, because in the time we talked, I created a small mana barrier over my neck. Even if she tried to stab down, I wouldn’t receive any wound.
“I know it’s not gentleman like to say this, but you reek of blood.”(Me)
“That’s none of your concern.”(?)
She tried her best to talk without emotions, but unfortunately, we were the same type of people. It was impossible for us to hold back our excitement. She knew I had something up my sleeve and would have loved to stab me to see what it was. I only wondered why she didn’t.
“Let’s start over. First put your nails away from my neck please.”(Me)
“Why should I?”(?)
It was a justified question, which I wasn’t able to answer.
“If you move one inch, I will kill you.”(?)
I really wanted to see her trying to, but I did as she said and didn’t move.
“What is your motive for coming here?”(?)
“Wasn’t it just my name a few moments ago?”(Me)
Every time I gave an answer that didn’t satisfy her, she’d put her nails closer to my neck.
“I want to know why you’re here.”(?)
“Would you believe me if I tell you I stranded?”(Me)
“This…”(?)
She stopped speaking as soon as we heard footsteps coming closer to the house.
“Fire already caught up?”(?)
What a strange name?
“Young miss, can’t you at least wait for me, before checking on invaders? If something were to happen to you, I wouldn’t be able to explain to your father.”(Fire)
He sounded like an adult, not too old, but probably somewhere in his thirties.
“Tsk.”(?)
The young miss just clicked her tongue. Even though her butler seemed like he was caring for her, she answered so undisciplined. The butler finally was in sight.
When I saw the one named Fire, my mind went blank. I started thinking at an extremely high speed. The memories of my past were displayed right before my eyes and I remembered many things.
No way.
“Can I ask you something?”(Me)
“Shut up.”(?)
“Just per chance. Is your name Lucy?”(Me)
As soon as I said those words, I could feel her body shaking.
“How do you know that? Answer me!”(Lucy)
“Eh?!(Me)

Or are they merely following them? Because, in the Beyond where he's spent 150 years waiting, one dead Ancient knows the truth. Douglas Moore has played those games often enough when he was alive to make sense of the System that rules the Changed world. He can no longer act on his own, but he has access to the Interface. And four people for which he can bring whatever it takes to face the world. Change is coming. The Changed Ones is a slow-burn litrpg fantasy trilogy (Ancient Bones, Ancient Books, Ancient Bonds) set on Earth, 150 years after the RPG Apocalypse... which mostly failed. It is an homage to the venerable ancient RPGs of the Golden Box era, the Baldur's Gates, and many others, offering adventure where You must gather your party before venturing forth. Keywords: LitRPG, realistic setting, low-leveling, post-post-apocalypse, fantasy earth, slow-burn, secondary POVs, female primary MC, team adventure, worldbuilding. Trigger warnings: casual swearing, adult innuendo (no explicit scenes whatsoever, though). Oh, and potentially a bit of politics. Bonus content: a Litrpg Easter Egg hunt. With lots of eggs across the book, some easy, some hard to find. Current score: 6/20 (20 eggs, 6 found) Publication schedule: on hold until September for book 2.
