《Life of the dark god》Chapter 24 No surprises anymore?

After crossing the field filled with death, I easily jumped up the mountain range. As soon as I went down to the forest, I could feel my mana being stolen from me again. It was an uncomfortable feeling, but I had to bear with it.
I just followed all the marks I had previously set up, to navigate back to our meeting point without any further problems. Everyone was already present when I arrived, which was convenient for me, because I could talk to them all at once.
“Guys. Hikaru is back.”(Hiro)
It looked like the others were sleeping and were just waking up. I was quite puzzled about it, but it was more important to get them to the middle of the island first and get them out of this exhausting beach and forest.
“Yo. I’m back. What did I miss?”(Me)
“Not much. We didn’t find anything at the beach. Did you have more luck than us?”(Hiro)
“I might have found something.”(Me)
Hiro was the only one interested in what I found. The others were still half-asleep and probably didn’t listen to our conversation. They had no idea what was awaiting them. I waited for all of them to listen to me before I continued.
“I found a rundown house in the middle of this island.”(Me)
Everyone made big eyes when they heard about the house.
“Moreover, I somehow met the owner of that house.”(Me)
It felt like they were moving closer to me to be sure that they had heard correct.
“Don’t be so dramatic. Tell us more about it.”(Takeshi)
“On the way there.”(Me)
“Ugh.”(Takeshi)
We had to walk slowly through the forest, because of Sakura. If we didn’t make enough breaks, someone would have to carry her and I except for me, no one would be able to do so, plus I didn’t want to so we had to go at a slow pace.

“So, why were all of you sleeping at the beach? Were you that exhausted?”(Me)
“You haven’t realised it yet?”(Takeshi)
“What?”(Me)
“Dragon’s talking about the sun.”(Hayate)
“What about it?”(Me)
I looked up and tried to think about what they wanted to tell me.
“It has been at the exact same point since we arrived. It is neither rising nor sinking.”(Takeshi)
“You mean…”(Me)
“We have no idea how much time is passing, nor do we know if it is day or night.”(Takeshi)
“It is surely a strange island.”(Hayate)
We soon arrived the mountain range. I checked out the sun again and it was true. There were no movements at all.
“Ah. Guys, before we go up there I have to warn you.”(Me)
“About what?”(Sakura)
Her voice was extremely weak. I almost overheard her.
“First of all, I will not be carrying Sakura up there.”(Me)
Even though I received one angry and three that was unnecessary stares, it had to be said, or the task would have been passed down to me.
“Also. Don’t be too surprised when you see what lies on the other side of this.”(Me)
I was putting my hand on the first rock when I finished my sentence. In the next moment, I started climbing up.
“What are you waiting for?”(Me)
I was the first to arrive at the top. Followed by Hiro and Hayate.
“Hey my mana isn’t getting drained anymore.”(Hiro)
“You’re right.”(Hayate)
Takeshi and Sakura were the last, because Takeshi had to support her, or she wouldn’t be able to climb up. All of them were still busy checking on their mana and no one looked at the other side yet.
“What the…” (Takeshi)
Takeshi was the first one to check out the other side, after taking a short break. The others just followed with similar reactions.

I warned you.
“Is there anything else as, ahm… strange as this?”(Takeshi)
“Welcome to my home, I’d say.”(Me)
Mana flowed normally again, so jumping down was no problem at all. I didn’t wait for any reply and just went ahead.
“Wait. What do you mean your home?”(Hiro)
Hiro was the first to catch up and asked me right away.
“As I said this is my home island. I was born and raised here.”(Me)
His face went blank at my answer.
“But it hadn’t always been like this.”(Me)
“So you are the owner of the house you were talking about?”(Hiro)
“My family is and at the moment my little sister is the owner.”(Me)
Perhaps it was a bit too much at once. As soon as he realised what I just said he stopped and looked at thin air. It was as if he was in trance or something like that.
“Hey. You okay?”(Me)
“W…We should wait for the others.”(Hiro)
The two of us already went ahead quite the distance, if we didn’t wait, the others wouldn’t be able to catch up to us anymore.
“Good idea.”(Me)
After waiting for everyone, I told the others the same story I told Hiro.
“What’s wrong with them?”(Sakura)
“Hm? Didn’t Takeshi tell you?”(Me)
“About what? Ah. Right, isn’t there some kind of rule that lets the gods have no siblings…” (Sakura)
I had to wait some time before all of them came back to reality.
“After today, I think there is nothing that will surprise me anymore.”(Takeshi)
We finally reached the old house. After knocking once, the door opened and we entered.
“Welcome to this modest home. Please feel free to ask me if you need anything.”(Fire)
It was a welcome befitting of a butler.
“Big brother!”(Lucy)
That was something I hadn’t predicted at all. Like a normal little girl waiting for her brother to return, she ran to me wanting a hug. I wasn’t the only one with a horrified expression. All my companions were shocked once again.
“Wha… Who are you and what did you do to my sister?”(Me)
She stopped right in front of me.
“Eh? What may you be talking about?”(Lucy)
She was trying to force a smile and it looked horrifying.
“Just stop that. What has gotten into you?”(Me)
“I am trying to open up to my big brother and act nice in front of his friends.”(Lucy)
“Who told you to do crap like that?”(Me)
She pointed at Fire.
“Everyone may make mistakes sometimes.”(Fire)
“So I can behave like normal?”(Lucy)
“Yes. Please.”(Me)
Her smile made a 180 degree turn. She emitted an intimidating aura and looked pissed.
“If any of you dare to destroy anything in here, I’ll fucking kill him or her.”(Lucy)
Takeshi, Hayate and Hiro still stood, but Sakura fell unconscious.
“It’s better if you take them to a room where they can use a bed. They have been through a lot today.”(Me)
Fire nodded and my companions followed him. Obviously, Takeshi was carrying Sakura.
“Nothing will surprise you anymore?”(Me)
I whispered to Takeshi when he passed me.
“I said after today.”(Takeshi)
They left the hall and went somewhere downstairs. Lucy and I were the only ones remaining.
“So, will you tell me what happened here now?”(Me)
She looked shaken once again as soon as I brought the issue up, but this time she answered with a small nod.
“I’ll talk; just don’t be mad at me.”(Lucy)
“Sigh. I promise I won't be mad at you.”(Me)

Debut: the day every young gentleperson of age gathers to receive their Spirit Blessing and shift for the first time into their second form. Except for those who don't. Beatrice's worst fear is to be one of the unlucky few trapped perpetually in a human body, cut off from the magic of the spirits and unfit for any respectable pack or pride. But when the time comes to face her fear, the outcome is one she never could have imagined. Be warned, this story is some highly experimental fluff—an unapologetically girly, unrelentingly bisexual, Regency/Victorian-ish fantasy mish-mash. It does have a dark side, though, so don’t come in expecting all sunshine and roses. Worthy of note, given the reputation of shifter stories: there will be no explicit sex in this tale. There will, however, be lots of polyamorous romance, necromancy, portal magic, capricious spirits, elemental mages, an unconventional take on shifters and a highly ordered society built around their existence.

After their fateful misadventure in the mountainous Norther Reaches of RUNDAO, a dark new threat to all of RUNDAO has been revealed to the mercenary band of THE CREEPING BAM and their newest member, half-orc bandit SHAYLINE SWIFT-KILL. Returning their hard-won cargo to THE SILVER ORDER in their city stronghold in BAVAT, they find their well-deserved rest will have to rest – half-elf wizard GAEL FOXTAIL’s father has disappeared while performing an investigation in the coastal city of UNTERMER, and it’s up to our motley crew to find him. As a son of Untermer, wily bakaneko thief ART OF SHADOWS is the perfect choice to lead the way, but he has ghosts of his own to face as their investigation brings them into the orbit of the THIEVES GUILD. But there are daker forces at work here, and as they uncover a dark conspiracy and form an uneasy alliance with a trio of tough sellswords with their own stake in the game, led by dwarven warrior THELGAEWYNN FROSTFORGE, the Creeping Bam begin to suspect this may be connected to that unfinished business they started back up north … This is a love letter and homage to the high-fantasy worlds of the tabletop RPGs like Dungeons & Dragons, Pathfinder and Warhammer and the sword & sorcery cinema and literature I fell in love with as a kid growing up in the 80s, from Robert E. Howard’s Conan the Barbarian (and the awesome Schwarzenegger movie, STILL my favourite fantasy film EVER), The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit and Ron Howard and George Lucas’ Willow, to the more grown-up and edgy worlds of grimdark masters George RR Martin and (my all-time favourite) Joe Abercrombie, as well as a BIG DOLLOP of Terry Pratchett’s immortal Discworld series. IMPORTANT: This story contains material which some readers may consider to be mature, such as battle violence, some strong language and occasional mild sexual scenes. If this is not your kind of thing, this story is not for you. I am also serializing this story on Tumblr, Wattpad, Quotev and Sweek.
