《Kobold Expansion》Chapter 36: What even are these titles

Edmund watched in horror. A united force of demihumans had attacked the mountain. Bird-like hybrids dropped ground troops onto the mountain, circumventing the land mines that had stopped the knights before them. The first few to get dropped down had been immediately torn apart by the kobolds, but as more dropped from the sky they were able to band together and form a line to fight off the hive of kobolds. Edmund watched as one clumsy kobold had his weapon ripped from his hand. When the kobold went to retrieve it a demihuman speared him through the arm. Then the demihumans formed a circle and lifted them upon their spears. Jack cheered them on as they turned the tide of battle against the kobolds. “No! What are they doing? Why are they here?!” He screamed at the sparrow human. Jack smirked. “To save us, and to rescue you. Your dad paid the demihumans a pretty penny for your safe return.”
A chill ran down Edmund’s spine. How could his father be so short sighted. Edmund was ready to sacrifice his life for the good of his family, but now his own father had thrown that sacrifice away. Did he not think of how Anon would react to this?
A line of demihuman spearmen formed around the prison while airborne demihuman’s rained arrows from the air. The kobolds pushed into the wall of shields and spears but their tiny bodies were pushed back easily. Kan sat on the ground outside the prison. He watched the battle with disinterested eyes. Marice the owl demi-human had taken to the air. His eyes rested on her. She landed between both party lines. “Stop this. Why are you attacking Anon’s home?” The demihuman spear men stab her. This is a battlefield not a diplomacy meeting. Kan stands up. He grabs the bars. That was one of the only bird humans who didn’t hate him. She was nice to him, she was nice to him, brought him meals. The kobolds held shields over her. They had pushed forward to rescue their wounded alley. The demihuman’s pushed foreward so they could not. Digging their spears into the unshielded parts of her and dragging her foreward. The kobolds abandoned her. Their only other option was to be pulled forward into enemy lines and die with her.

Edmund turned to Kan. “Kan, you are not pleased with this attack right?” Kan was on the verge of tears, he nodded. “Then please. If they do get us out of here. I need you to fly me to Anon. I have to report this immediately and try to apologize before he destroys everything.” Kan nods.
The demihumans break through the prison’s walls. They open a hole large enough. Jack flies out first, “He has the sacred artifacts buried in his cave!” He yells. The demihumans move their goal from rescuing the prisoners to retrieving the sacred artifacts. Kan grabs Edmund under his armpits and flies towards the city where even from this distance they can see the large black silhouette of Anon.

Horizon
Emiluna is about to turn 16 and gain access to her first two classes. Living in a small village in the middle of nowhere, she always wanted to become a Hunter. Having learned a bit under her parents, a miller and a seamstress, she was sure she could never pick a class that meant staying inside all day. But being a Hunter is more than just a class. It means providing meat for the village, culling small pests near the cultivated fields and most importantly guarding the village from predators and monsters. But Emiluna is not a normal girl and her destiny far bigger than she could have ever imagined.Join her as she finds out what awaits just behind the horizon.[Word from the author]I am looking to create a fantasy world that has some logic to it and stays believable even as characters gain power and progress in levels.Classes and level quantify the people's progress, but they do not artificially inflate their power to demi-god levels. I am primarily trying to write a captivating story, not "power-porn". That means it will be slower than the fast burning litRPG you might be used to, but it won't burn out that quickly either and I won't drop half of my plots at the wayside. I should mention that English is not my native language. I hope it is mostly unnoticeable, but sometimes I manage to slip some awkard sentence structure in there (German sometimes puts things together in reverse). It it also my first time writing an actual fantasy novel and the first time writing anything at length in English. Any constructive feedback is very welcome.Credit where credit is due: Cover picture by Paul Bica (Licensed under CC 2.0)Check out his amazing photos here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/dexxusYes, my cover picture is a photo, not a drawing. :D I might try my hand at some Paint-ification later to add the title.[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
