《The Man With RPG》04 - Old Dude

John leaned back on his chair after searching through the internet and what he found was shocking.
“Damn, this world is wack,” said John.
He shook his head side to side not knowing how to respond to this discovery.
I should have expected this, to begin with, me being here is already ridiculous and doesn’t make sense.
“Man with capes, latex suits with alphabet, and last but not least, sexy leotard with ample of cleavage,” said John. Again he shook his head.
Having superpower in reality sounded like a dream, but in reality, John knew that with such people around there was bound to be a normal occurrence of world-ending events.
“am I safe being here?” said John. He sighed while staring at the ceiling. “I don’t really have a choice do I?”
A question that he knew the answer. To be fair, he was already dead, him being alive right now was already an utter miracle in a sense.
“Rather than complaining, might as well think about what to do with these points,” said John as he stared at his character menu.

For some reason, English wasn’t registered as a skill? Is it because I normally speak in English? Well, who cares, for now, that isn’t important. I’ve got five points and six attributes, so what should I do?
He pondered for a while before he finally decided something.
Let’s put it all into strength, mine being only three kinds of hurt my pride a bit.
He dumped all of his points into strength raising it up to eight.
I don’t feel anything.

He was expecting some kind of sign or something that would exhibit his rise in his attribute. But seeing nothing was happening, he threw that notion away.
Now I need to figure out how to level up. I definitely can’t kill monsters since they don’t exist or do they…
His eyes narrowed as his assumption might be possible. With superheroes flying around who knows what else existed in this world.
Hmm, to trigger a quest might be a hard thing to do considering it happened during a dangerous situation. I’m better off finding a way to obtain a skill since I did gain that Cheap Shot skill through busting that dude’s nuts.
John started typing on his keyboard as he searched through the net and he found something.
I better get dress.
Sneaking out from his house, he arrived at his destination. He looked upwards and saw the sign.
“Badger’s Gym, not the best kind of name but it’s the nearest,” said John.
He went inside and found a few people working out. Most of them were middle-aged men while a few already had their hair turned white. He couldn’t see any young one inside but that didn’t matter.
He walked around looking for a counter but the old school boxing gym didn’t actually have one. While he looked clueless, a man who was sweeping the floor approached John.
“You’re looking for something son?” John turned and noticed this old dude. White hair with a white beard, his dark brown complexion along with the pink Hawaiian shirt completed the overall look.
“I want to learn boxing,” said John as he didn’t mince his words.
The old man raised his eyebrows taken back a bit by John’s frankness.
“Then let’s see what you got,” said the old man.

“Your name sir?” John asked.
“You’re a polite one aren’t you, that’s a rare thing to see in here,” said the old man. “It’s Ray.”
The duo stepped inside the ring, John with the boxing gloves on and Ray wearing punching mitts.
“What you got there Ray?” one of the white hair men stopped exercising and came closer to the ring.
“Just some kid,” said Ray.
Ray ignored his customer as he paid attention to the kid across him.
“Come on, give me a jab,” Ray waved the punching mitt as John followed through.
“Faster,” said Ray.
“You need to snap it,” said Ray.
John followed through, and with his motion turning more fluid. He got what he wanted.
Skill: Jab acquired
He couldn’t help but smile. At least his theory seemed to be working.
“Stop smiling and give me a straight,” said Ray. “One-two,” Ray counted.
John followed Ray’s instruction without fail. He ignored a few mocking statements thrown by Ray as he only cared about those windows popping out.
Meanwhile, Ray was quite impressed by this sudden lad coming out of nowhere. At first, Ray wasn’t impressed seeing how amateurish John’s movement was but he had to admit that John packed quite a punch for someone at that height and with that thin body.
But as Ray spent time testing and training John a bit, he was getting more surprised by John’s progress.
This kid got quite a talent, and he’s a quick learner. Thought Ray.
The sound from John’s punching started resonating louder. Soon, the few people in the gym gathered around the ring.
John didn’t stop punching as his whole body was sweating like mad. He was in a trance feeling the euphoric sensation of success as he saw the constant leveled up of his skills.
In the end, Ray had to stop.
“Stop,” said Ray as he bent down on his knees gasping for air. For an old-timer, it was already a miracle for him to kept that boxing session for that long.
“Are we done?” John asked.
“You’ve got talent kid, come back tomorrow,” said Ray. The old-timer came down from the ring.
John got out and to his surprise, a lot of these middle-aged men kept pouring compliments on him. He only nodded to them and approached Ray.
“So how much should I pay?” John asked.
Ray looked at John in silence.
“Let’s talk about that at the end of the month, just make sure to come back tomorrow,” said Ray.
“Thank you,” said John.
“No, thank you boy,” Ray pointed at John.
John felt weird a bit by the reaction of Ray but he shrugged it off as it was already late, close to midnight.
He got out and jogged back to his house, along the way he couldn’t help but smile seeing the character window.

The sea of stars. The momentaneous lifeforms that flicker far away. Our futures — a sea brimming with light. Each and every shimmer in the starry canvas serves as one’s infinite opportunities in the vast sea of the future. On a once unremarkable day, a mysterious girl displayed powers beyond the capabilities of humans in front of many onlookers who knew only the ordinary: Powers of Ice creation. Riki, a normal young man in the midst of the crowd, was astonished to see such a spectacle, but this astonishment quickly transforms into dismay. From the appearance of calm, yet scorching blue flames, he realized the sole reason she was using powers in the first place was to only protect herself from two who have possession of powers akin to hers. And in failing to do so, the last thing Riki saw was the angst look in her eyes before she disappeared from his sight. That was the only one remaining memory he can recall. Thrusted into an organization filled with supernatural stargazers, Riki's only goal is to retake everything back: a journey to take back both his past and his future. Through this journey, it will mean to discover the underlying truths of the world. Any illustrations I use for covers and chapters are illustrations I have drawn myself unless otherwise stated.

Dream Dungeon
Welcome to the dream dungeon. Ely suddenly finds himself in a mysterious dungeon accessed only through sleeping. Many people are drawn into this dream world, confused and mystified. Those in this dungeon must kill monsters to survive; maybe even each other. Join Ely as he struggles to survive a ruthless environment. What replaces his rest is untold trauma. What seems like an innocent game trope turns into a nightmare. This is a story of tragedy and the path to ultimate power. All in the hopes of an uncertain survival. _________ This fiction has NOT been abandoned. I made a haughty promise earlier to not worry because I'll continue this series, and with things lately, I've only proved myself a liar. Further promises dwindled, and I've lost trust. So many things have been going on recently that I've been booked. I will refrain from making any future guarantees or promises as my busy schedule will stay with me for a long long while. Time for me to actually spend on writing and revising won't appear until at the least November 19. I won't say expect that's when I'll restart, but you can expect expecting it to maybe happen. That's really shallow. But with everything going on, I've let my small reading base down. I apologize. I still stick by my statement though that I won't abandon this project. I plan to stick it to the end, no matter the delay. Most importantly, thank you everyone; readers who both like and dislike my work. I appreciate your time spent on my dumb imagination. Stay toasty my readers in this winter season. Cheers. UPDATE: We're back on track. Thank you for your patience. Any future readers, heyo! Glad you're here. UPDATE 2: So far it's been 21 days since I last uploaded a chapter. The best thing done for any fiction, no matter how good it is, is that it continues, and I have a bad history with that. 1 fiction on hiatus and already more delays with less than 20 chapters in this fiction. I've been very preoccupied with adding more things to do in my life rather than actually committing to any particular thing. That applies primarily to this. I cannot abandon this, as busy as my future looks and will look as I get busier and busier. Someday, I hope, I will be able to sit down and just write. just. write. But for now, I ask for patience. I suppose I'm glad this fiction hasn't picked up so that I don't disappoint too many people if any really. But I need to commit and it's going to happen sometime and sometime soon. No more flowery words. I'll see you later. UPDATE 3: It's very evident I won't be able to pick up this story for a while. With AP Testing, competitions, and other things I am busier than ever. But I must complete this fiction. I have too. Until next time. UPDATE 4: It is now the summer. I owe everyone an apology. Chances are, nobody's around to see this, and that is okay. I only blame myself for this sort of brokenness of a fiction, not that it is actually that bad but I am just exaggerating it for dramatic effect. But what's not exaggerated is the severity of my broken promise. I apologize for my naive claims about finishing a novel that I couldn't finish and that I didn't have the discipline to finish. Nor the skills, really, I was and am still an immature writer. What is to place now? I want to make it clear I understand this is my fault. I will man up to this. And I will accept any criticism. I understand I messed up. Reading Stephen King's On Writing made it clear to me that I need to do two things:Read lots. And write lots.I have done neither. If I don't have the time to read often, how do I expect to write? I need to become more experienced. I need to become a serious writer. So if I want to dream of continuing, I need to at least fulfill both requirements. I enjoy writing. I haven't written seriously outside of school in a while. I planned to write this summer and finish this. I made a lot of promises that I didn't keep.So there's that. I won't enact any self-pity, or be foolishly obsessed. What I did was wrong, and I must deal with it. I let down readers. And I apologize.I hope I can find forgiveness. This is a writer's sin.I won't promise I'll finish this. I intend to finish this, at some point, because writing is fun and I want to write. But how things are don't reflect that. Maybe I'll finish this at some point. Maybe I won't. I won't be naive to make that promise.I thank everyone who has read this if this is the end. If not, and hopefully not, I thank everyone who is to read future chapters. I thank everyone who allowed me to live in the miniscule little dream of mine as I passed my days. I thank everyone who cares enough to read this. Until next time, peace everyone. Thank you. You are all great readers and great people. I wish everyone the best in whatever reading/writing endeavors follow you henceforth.
