《Nurarihyon System in Another World》Chapter 41 Sinners

Feng Baichuan listened to the elders reasoning; based on the entire event that transpired he could understand why some elders wanted to take the life of the man that saved them.
From start to finish the only feeling that the man gave them is "Fear", from the way he massacred the Black Demon Mercenaries down to the powers that he showed, everything that they saw is simply out of their understanding.
If they don't make their move now they would definitely lose their lives without the chance to retaliate so now that they got a chance to prevent their doom it's better to grit their teeth now and take the gamble.
Just as they steeled their hearts and turned around to where Hannya collapsed what appeared in their vision scared them out of their wits..
The man that they thought had collapsed earlier is now sitting on a rock while talking with two kids.. Baichuan who saw the appearance of the kids was overtaken with terror.
He is afraid for the safety of his son and daughter, even though they escaped from the fangs of the wolf , the man standing before them can be liken to a tiger. To him, who was afraid of Hannya; the kids were simply playing with the God of Death's schyte.
Hannya glanced at the Phoenix Clan Members, though he heard their discussion about his life and death he was not worried, to him the power of this clan is simply too weak that he could destroy them without difficulty.
Fang Baichuan and Hannya's eyes met, the two have different reaction. While Hannya remained calm, Baichuan simply can't stop himself from shivering. After witnessing what Hannya can do, even if he and the entire phoenix clan it would simply look like a group of sheep tickling a dragon.
The cold atmosphere was broken by a childish voice who greeted her father; "Father, this brother is so awesome and cool. Can we play with him?"
Fang Baichuan can only feel his entire world darkening as beads of sweat rose from his forehead. Play? With a demon? He simply couldn't imagine that Demon Psycho would play with his kids. Without hesitation he prostrated in front of Hannya, taking a deep breath he shouted in a voice filled with determination:

"Senior, Please spare my kids and clan, I will accept any punishment that you bestow in this old bones. I plead you!"
Hannya who looked at this scene with calm expression stayed silent while Baichuan's breathing on other hand increased under Hannya's piercing gaze; his chest rose and fell with rapid movements as if he's having a hard time breathing. The elders from phoenix clan also prostrated on the ground following their elders.
Leaning at the boulder, Hannya crossed his legs while he propped his chin on his hand. Seeing this members from the phoenix clan prostrating in front of him made him realize a simple fact; in this world Strength rules the world; Intelligence doesn't matter as long as you're strong no one would refute your words. The situation right now is the perfect example of that.
He winked at the kids near him and with a snap of his finger he gathered everyone's attention.
"Do I look that terrifying to you guys?"
Though it was a simple question that could be answered by simply nodding or shaking their heads no one made a movement. They are afraid of the consequences that might transpire if they tell him their real feelings.
Seeing their reactions, Hannya chuckled: "Don't worry, I don't have plans on killing any of you. So you can stand now."
Even though he already gave his assurance they are still afraid yet Baichuan slowly stood up and looked at Hannya warily.
"I am the Nura Clan's Supreme Commander, Nurarihyon. Nice to meet you Guardians of the Phoenix Legacy."
The first part of introduction was normal but latter part caused everyone to flinch, they stared at the man with dilated eyes.
Baichuan lowered his head while his hands tightened into a fist, they couldn't raise their chest with pride after being called Guardians of the Phoenix Legacy because of their Ancestors sin. During that generation, one of the ancestors fought with someone using the power of the phoenix and the flames accidentally spread to a small town and killed thirty two thousand innocent people. The phoenix spirit was enraged and cursed the bloodline to be suppressed to the tenth level of Elementary Profound.

Afterwards, the clan hid in the mountain range next to the ruins of the phoenix for a thousand years, praying to their phoenix god that the curse can be released. Being cursed by the God whom they worship had left a huge mark on their destiny.
Breathing a sigh while lamenting about the past Baichuan slowly unclenched his fist Suddenly, he looked like he aged for ten years. Even his normally straight back seemed slouchy simply thinking about the curse awoke some unwanted memories. He raised his head, in his vision appeared the same man who looked like a demon before.
The only difference is that he no longer emits a dark aura, is entire aura feels like a calm sea. If everyone didn't saw his merciless killing no one would've believed that a man that exudes this pure aura is a psycopath who loves to murder.
His clear eyes is extremely clear without malice like a newborn child, such change is simply hard to achieve. Baichuan steeled his heart and decided to ask Hannya about something that has been bugging his mind since he introduced himself.
"Senior, would it be fine to ask something?"
"Sure, what is it?"
Taking a deep breath Baichuan inquired: "How did you find out about our origins?"
In this question Hannya simply gestured while pointing his finger at his forehead: "The marks in your forehead is extremely unique. Don't you think?"
Though his question wasn't answered completely yet he was satisfied. Just that gesture alone made him understood how this man identified their identity. Unbeknownst to him, Hannya knew about them a long time ago, he only answered with half-lie and half-truth to cover up the real reason.
"I noticed that most of you have a cultivation of Elementary Profound of 10th stage. Why is that?"
Baichuan stiffened from Hannya's direct question that pierce their weak spots. He was uncomfortable about the question so he was slightly hesitant, he wanted to avoid answering this question but when he remembered the identity of the man standing in front of him he decided to tell the truth.
"After passing the trial, our ancestors began to pass on the phoenix bloodline, generation after generation. By the time it had reached the twelfth generation, they had already flourished into a Sect of great prowess, but had never openly titled themselves as a clan of the Phoenix and they had continually hidden the mark of the Phoenix on their foreheads in front of others. However, in that generation, one of the ancestors fought with someone using the power of the phoenix and monstrous flames accidentally spread to a small town, scorching all thirty-two thousand innocent lives within."
Hannya simply nodded from time to time while Baichuan was recounting the events that caused their current situation; the elders listening on the side shrunked from embarrassment, the twin kids on the other side listened silently.
"A monstrous crime of this extent incited the fury of the phoenix's spirit at the trial ground, and a cruel punishment has befallen us. Everyone in the clan of that generation were marked with the curse's seal in their phoenix bloodline, which suppressed the profound energy of everyone within the clan to the tenth level of the Elementary Profound Realm, never to make any progress in their lifetime. Furthermore, the phoenix's mark turned a dark red and could no longer be concealed. It was as if this seal was a symbol to constantly remind the clansmen of the grievous crime they had committed."
After Baichuan told Hannya the entire situation a short silence followed..
Even though Hannya already knew about the entire event he needs to act as if he didn't to establish connection with this people despite their current strength they are still stronger than the low-level yokais. He looked heavenward with his eyes closed as if to feel the breeze of dawn... after awhile he turned his attention back to everyone and made a declaration that made them tremble..
