《Decimating Gods and Demons》Chapter Fifteen – ‘Hsu’ Symbol’s Power

In the next day prior to doctor Shu Ang’s assurance, Chen Yun did wake up.
Chen Yun quickly asked what happened to him and Tu Ren told him about what happened in these past days. When he heard everything, he was put into contemplation as if he was very serious about his sudden yelling and screaming last time.
“Did you find the crux of your matter?” Tu Ren asked seriously.
And the atmosphere had turned serious that none of them talked and was filled with heaviness making them feel suffocated but not too long Chen Yun answered Tu Ren’s question.
“Sigh; regarding the matter of the blood that transfused in me, I didn’t feel any uncomfortable feeling. It was as if it was just a dream and it didn’t happen at all.” He said.
The Black Saber Mercenary’s members, old merchant Olaf, and Tu Ren were completely serious about listening what Chen Yun said to them.
“But one thing is for sure that I clearly know…” Chen Yun added but paused…
The group of listeners was anticipating as if their unveiling a mystery.
“Tell us quickly, don’t let us put into suspense!” someone impatiently said.
Growl~
“Eh?”
A growling stomach echoed.
“…”
“@#$&@!!!”
…
In another room, a long table was placed and many delicacies of different kinds of food were laid on top of the table and only one person was sitting beside the table and it was Chen Yun.
He was wolfing down the foods from left to right and from right to left. While outside the room; it was gloomy, the people here were plastered with dark face including Tu Ren and old merchant Olaf. Who would have thought that the end of their serious discussion regarding the situation of Chen Yun have, they were tricked!
He was telling that he knew something, but he only knew that he was hungry!
“Damn! This old man was still tricked by a young man, sigh…” old merchant Olaf self-mockingly said.
But Tu Ren didn’t say a word or any reaction on his face as if he was not affected at all. But the bulging veins on his both arms could be seen clearly even from afar.
…
After he had filled his stomach and felt satisfied with the food he ate, he walks out from the room.
Creak~
Bang!
Chen Yun suddenly sent flying away back inside the room while his face has an imprint, a punched imprint!
The culprit was Tu Ren, though he didn’t say anything lately he was just controlling it by himself but when he saw Chen Yun with his satisfied smile, he felt an urge to punch him in the face and so he did.
“Ouch! Why did you hit me?” Chen Yun wrongly said while propping himself up.
Humph!
Tu Ren snorted and left as his hands still have a bit white smoke. His brothers were smiling or let us say having a schadenfreude at Chen Yun’s misfortune.
But Chen Yun didn’t retaliate because he knew that he tricked them and was feeling a bit bad. But the damage was done and he cannot take it back.

While touching his face in the part where the punched imprint was planted he walked towards his room.
Creak~
A smell of furniture greets Chen Yun when he opened the door, the room was tidied up by someone and he feels like it was like his room at the mansion but it was not. With a bed, a table, and a chair placed on different location even though it was simple and unadorned he didn’t mind at all because he was just temporarily staying at old merchant Olaf’s residence and plans to fix his pair of gloves before returning.
But before all that plans he has, he first understands the mystery of the sixty-four symbols and the blood that integrated into his body but don’t know where it was, no matter how he scanned his internal body.
When Chen Yun appeared on that last hour where the Black Saber Mercenary was at its wit's end, one of the sixty-four symbols which was the ‘Hsu’ symbol really helped him to defeat Bandit Leader Gu.
The ‘Hsu’ symbol’s power was nourishing his body and increases his one ability by one-fold. The healing power of ‘Hsu’ which was the ‘nourishment’ can heal him as long as he was still breathing; it was a lifesaving tool that can help him survive for longer battles. It can also temper his fleshly body without doing anything though a bit slow, it is better than a non-tempering body. It will only activate if he was really in dire straits but if not then he can only endure the pain. While the other ability was it can be activated in exchange of its energy to be transferred to one of his ability, it was either his power, speed, flexibility or any kinds and it will increase by one-fold. If there are pros, then there are cons. If either the two ability of ‘Hsu’ symbol was used then it can only be used once again on the next two days. If he uses the increase of his one ability then he cannot use the other ability which can help him survive in long battles.
But Chen Yun didn’t feel bad of these options he had, he was even rejoicing that he had this kind of ability. And now he was eager to find all the symbols and thinks what kind of heavenly defying abilities did the sixty-five remaining symbols have?
He couldn’t answer it today unless he has those symbols so he directed his focus towards the next. He thought about the blood’s origin but because he couldn’t even find the blood’s whereabouts then he can only sigh on helplessness and move to another.
Then he looked at his two gloves which was still on his hands, the slashed mark on one of the gloves was apparent that it almost turned into half, when he saw this he felt pained and didn’t think any longer and walk out from the room and headed towards the famous blacksmith of Blazing Spear City!
…
The first thing he saw outside old merchant Olaf’s residence was the imposing sundering spear at the central location of the Blazing Spear City!

The spear was so wide that it almost eats up 25% of the city’s land, there are fiery red tassels hanging on the spears body as it sways from left to right, its head could not be seen because it passed through the clouds and only the half part of the spear’s body was seeable.
Chen Yun was amazed of the tall and large spear but he didn’t come here just to watch and admire the spear, so he walks towards the blacksmith.
He asked around about the famous blacksmith’s location and when he knew the right location he then headed there.
When he arrived he saw a three-story building, the rooftop of the building was smoking different colors as it rose towards the sky, while the inside was ‘clanging’ sounds of metals resonated outwards. The entrance was wide and 10 people can enter at the same time, a longboard was placed at the top of the entrance with a written name of the shop. It was written ‘Heavenly Great Hammer’ an impressive aura emanated out from the name.
He headed inside; when he arrived someone quickly called him.
“Hello sir, how can I help you?” an old man’s voice echoed from the counter.
Chen Yun’s face changed, he thought that when he arrives he will be greeted by a beautiful and petite lady to entertain him but what the heck it was an old man and he was just laying on his chair as if he didn’t care if there’s no customer at all!
It was a great contrast of what Chen Yun had read in his past world. Everything was crap when it was his turn to experience such opportunity.
Chen Yun can only swallow his anger and forcibly smiled at the old man and said, “Old man, I want to repair my pair of gloves.”
The old man who was reading a book and was not looking at him suddenly looked indignantly at the dilapidated gloves on Chen Yun’s hands, but when his eyes laid at the pair of gloves, his eyes sparkled then he touched his beard.
“Hohoho, what good gloves you have there… 10,000 taels of silver.” He said casually while returning his attention towards the book.
“F^%@k!!” Chen Yun nearly coughed up blood with the sky-high price.
“Old man, why the heck your price was so high with just a pair of old gloves?” Chen Yun wrongly answered to the old man.
“Hmph! Do you think that I give the price like a joke? If you don’t want to pay then leave!” the old man answered not looking on Chen Yun whose face was red with anger.
“Fine!” Chen Yun gritted his teeth as he said.
Though he didn’t mind how much the cost because he has the City Lord’s Symbol but he wants to conserve the money in order for his parents not to think that he’s squandering their money!
He then placed the City Lord’s Symbol which was always on his clothes.
The old man who was reading the book roll his eyes and gaze the City Lord’s Symbol, and when he saw the City Lord’s Symbol he abruptly jumped! He quickly propped his body and bowed while saying, “Oh it was young master Chen, who would have thought that this old man has eyes but can’t see Mount Tai.”
A 90-degree turn of personality, he suddenly fawned Chen Yun whose anger nearly exploded!
Chen Yun was dazed but quickly returns his disposition and was acting like a real young master though he was real indeed.
“I want to repair these gloves and want to find the best blacksmith and I want to add another part of it as a set of the gloves,” Chen Yun said.
He planned to give this old man a lesson but he doesn't want to lower himself to such character that only acts strongly if other is weak and act weak if someone were stronger than him.
“Yes, yes, yes. Follow me and I’ll find you the real and best smith you could have ever known.” The old man said as he taps his chest reassuring his words.
The old man has a black and white hair that reaches his waist and a beard that reaches to his chest, he was a bit crooked back but it was not so sure because maybe he’s lowering his body to not anger Chen Yun.
They headed towards the second floor, led by the old man and Chen Yun was following suit.
When Chen Yun arrives at the second floor, he smells a distinct odor that hangs thick, burning the nostrils with the stench of coal dust and molten iron. Many anvils were laid in its respective large forge that was placed on the sides of the wall as the hammering echoes to his ears while the blacksmith hitting the molten iron that was in different forms of weapons. There is five blacksmith hammering in their respective forge and they have two to four assistant to help them give the ingredients they needed.
But Chen Yun and the old man didn’t stop at the second floor but continued on the third floor.
When the assistant of one of the blacksmith saw the two proceeded towards the second floor they were shocked and their eyes were wide as saucers.
“No way, is that young man was filthy rich or a son of one of the sects or clans?” an assistant said.
“Impossible! I never saw that face here in the city not even the two sects or the two clans unless… unless he was a young master of another city!” another assistant answered.
Gasp!
The questioned assistant was shocked.
“Who would have thought he can see the famous blacksmith of the Blazing Spear City that we ourselves who were working here couldn’t see even his shadow.” Someone said emotionally.

Old Riding Author Lunatic Asylum
Just off the A19, in the dark, incomprehensible lands known as Yorkshire, there lies a town. A town where shadow-silent alleys glint with the secret hunger of knives. Where blood soaks the chipboard window shutters of forsaken terraces stretching off into the night. Where the smog-choked air rattles with the depraved laughter echoing out from clubs that can only generously be described as post-apocalyptic. Well, that’s Middlesbrough. But down the A19 a bit (an impossibly long way down, actually) there lies another town: Raughnen, in the ancient, forgotten Old Riding. It is an equal match in muggery and thuggery alike. It also has magic spells and pointy wizard hats. And now, across the miles and across all sensibilities, a pretty nasty power (a magic one) calls out for its pretty nasty counterpart (a decidedly unmagic one): a proper sound Boro lad. Nothing good can come of it. This is a collection of one novella and four connected short stories: I. A Yorkshire Summoning II. Old Riding Day Trip (the novella) III. Heaven is a Parmo IV. Death on the 66 V. Death on the 257 In total, this comprises 34 chapters totalling around 35,000 words, so try not to worry. It will be over relatively quickly. There are three more short stories with more tenuous links to the core collection: Rush, Paper Round and Scenario 79: Sausage Fingers, all of which can be found in my collection Short Records of Misadventure. Reading these may allow you to make more sense of certain parts of the story, if any sense is to be made at all. NOTE: There are instances of prejudice and discrimination within these stories, including elements of sexism and ageism, which are purely the thoughts and actions of the characters involved and which certainly do not reflect my own views on these matters. ANOTHER NOTE; A WARNING, PERHAPS: This can get a bit weird. In less than 150 pages, we have four viewpoints, first and third person narratives, and a completely disjointed plot with lots of gaps, dead ends and no real resolution. Also ZERO lunatic asylums. It's all a bit odd. If that sort of thing isn't your cup of tea, which it most likely isn't, it might be best to move on now.
