Micky now had to stay in the inn for an extra week. Luckily he had enough to cover the expenses. Something that despite the competence of, the counts had forgot. Luckily he would be getting a stipend and pay from his two seasons of training as an adventurer. Even more lucky, since most of it involved leveling and fighting which would then lead to pay after the bodies were processed.
Unfortunately, he would have to wait a week, but he could at least register as an adventurer and by extension the class. Since they would only put up the class, coincidentally now that he was here.
So in the meantime, he had to wait around for the class to start. Micky traveled to the adventurers guild with his sworn and Squishy. On the way over there was nothing exciting. However the adventurer’s guild was rowdy and getting rowdier. Apparently the news that not only a class was taking place but a noble would be overseeing it and taking in sworn.
Micky wasn’t sure if he counted as a noble. Actually he was pretty sure he did not. But he would be looking for new sworn to be brought into the group. So he supposed in a convoluted sense it was true.
Micky walked up to the receptionist. He looked at the beautiful women in row after row. There were beautiful men as well, not really his flavor though. He was called up to the ugly dude that took ten times as long to process a simple form. The dude was slow but not slow, Micky thought he might be tripping on stones. Even the manager had come by at one point to yell at him.
“I need to join the adventurers guild. And please sign me up for that adventurer’s class as well.” Said Micky.
“You ‘need’ to hu?” Said the receptionist.
“I would like to very much, if you could.” said Micky, though if he wanted to live, ignoring the goodwill of the counts wasn’t a smart decision.
“I don’t know anything about no class.” Said the receptionist.
“It should have arrived today.” Said Micky.
“Look kid, I know my job, and I know everything there is to know about what’s happening in the guild, and I know there isn’t any class.” Said the receptionist.
Micky took a moment to metaphorically breath internally but not outwardly, these were the types he just had to deal with in life. “If you could look, I’m sure you could find it, please-” The receptionist looked like he was about to go apoplectic. “-Please, just look.” The receptionist turned back to look at his papers. He did indeed find exactly what Micky had asked of him…
“And why should I sign you up for this when you have been so rude to me?” He said. Micky wanted to facepalm. Because it’s your job? Because I can go to literally any other receptionist and have them do it? Take your pick of just about any scenario including not wanting to be assassinated by high nobility. Micky thought inwardly.

“Please, I just want to get this finished so that we can both go about our day.” Said Micky. The receptionist then grabbed a file from a stack. It said monster subjugation request form. “I don’t think that is the right form.” Micky said. “Do you want to do the job or me? Just fill out the form!”
Micky then pointed to the top of the form where it was clearly marked [Monster Subjugation Request Form: A36-C42]. The receptionist grumbled about something too low for Micky to understand. He then quickly grabbed another form without looking. This was not the right form either. It was an [File For Party Divorce And Splitting Of Holdings: K42-BBY]. “I think it is that form over there.” Micky said as evenly as he could. The angrier he became the more even his voice was, and dealing with this bastard made him pretty angry, though his voice hadn’t hit sweet tones yet.
The receptionist grumbled some more but grabbed the form without looking at it and plopped it down. “And the form for joining a class as well, make that two.” Micky said. The man started looking through the forms.
Micky quickly filled out all the forms that applied to him. Writing out all sorts of answers. Each form was handwritten by a scribe and each scribe had a different idea of the layout of the form. Though they seemed to all have the same fields, but they did not have them placed in the same way or worded the same. This came in spite of having a standardized form layout.
After finishing the form in barely the time it took for the receptionist to find the form, Micky was ready to hand it back. “I’m done!” He realized his mistake as soon as he said the words. Because now he had to deal with this receptionist again.
“Oh, let me check, no you didn’t fill this out properly, here, here, and here.” The receptionist pointed. Micky looked at the fields he missed. [Form: C56-H42 Subsection: A55] for prospective adventurers with criminal records, [Form: C56-H42 Subsection: A56] for prospective adventurers who have had bad dealings or a lower than standard record for quest completion, [Form: C56-H42 Subsection: C31] for prospective adventurers who have been rowdy or unreasonable to adventurer’s guild staff and have a record with the guild.
“I don’t need to fill out those fields since I don’t have any of those things.” Said Micky.
“You don’t think I’m going to let this slide do you? Do you think you’re hot stuff adventurer?” Said the receptionist.
“Honestly I don’t even know what you’re talking about anymore.” Said Micky.
“If you think that you can just come in here and talk to me like that you have another thing coming! Do you know who I am?! Do you? Do you know!” Said the receptionist. Micky just stared at the man as he worked himself into a tirade. He knew better than to stop these people when they got going, so he waited. The man was picking up steam to the point that even the other receptionists couldn’t function with the man screaming like he was.

Eventually the manager came over and had him removed. She was a pretty little thirty something, well not really little in any proportions. Ok, she was a pretty face on a smokin body, but that could just be the toga she and the rest of the receptionists were wearing. “Sorry about that, let me get that filled out.” She was quick and efficient. She took one look, pointed out some actual mistakes which Micky quickly corrected, and filed the form.
Then she grabbed the form for the adventurer’s class. Although there was usually a large number of these this branch was proud to have this for multiple reasons:
First was that although those other classes were small, general things, they were expensive. These classes had to take time out of an active adventurers hunting to teach, so they weren’t cheap. However this class was with a differed payment that could be paid off with the actual hunting, making it virtually free.
Second, class size, this one would be massive, which meant more could apply.
Third, and possibly most important, there was a noble overseeing this class. They would be looking for sworn to follow them. This could be the lucky break that every adventurer dreams of. When they are in the slums and looking for a role model the adventurers that made it big are the go to example. Unfortunately they usually ended up [Dead] or worse, and the few that didn’t were still poor. So, had they not stipulated that only young and prospective adventurers even old adventurers in their nineties would have applied.
“Which is why there are no more slots to fill.” Said the manager. “I’m sorry that while you were talking to that young man that all the other slots were filled. However I will make an exception for you two.” Micky wasn’t sure how to feel about almost being rejected for the event he was ‘paying’ for. He wondered if he should really be that thankful. Well, the least he was going to do was not hold it against them since they attempted to fix it.
So Micky and Prin, who was already an adventurer, walked away from the association with an odd feeling. However as they slipped out they were followed by a group of adventurers.
“Do you really think you can get away that easily?” Said the young punks. Micky turned around to look at these people. Should he be surprised that it was the trope of three people? They all looked like they just came out of an apocalypse with a spiked mohawk and black leather armor that didn’t look like it covered anything. If Micky was being honest he thought it was edgy and cool, but he would keep that to himself.
“What seems to be the problem?” Said Prin.
“We have no problem with you princess, just your knight in shining undies over there.” Said one of the stooges.
“Yeah, do you think you can talk to the boss like that? You’re gonna have to apologize with your body.” Said another stooge. Micky looked at a third. Prin raised an eyebrow and looked at the guard.
“Do you stooges really think you can do this with a [Guard] standing right over there?” Asked Princess. She found it inwardly ironic that they should get her name right without actually knowing.
“The Guard won’t do nothing if he knows what’s good for im’.” Said one of the stooges, the looked so identical Micky couldn’t actually tell them apart. He heard about an animal that did that, the Zeb-something, Micky thought.
“Yeah, if he gets on the bad side o’ boss bad things happen.” The stooge looked pointedly at the guard. The guard looked back questioningly. He seemed to be waiting for them to take action so he could take action. Of course they didn’t notice the fact that he looked over at Prin for confirmation, who gave an imperceptible nod, and he gave a nod back.
Then the stooges attacked. It happened so fast that Micky was actually uprepared. The stooges thorough trouncing that is. First prin blocked the attack, then the [Guard] came in and subdued them all. Finally the screaming of a dying chicken as the guard continued to subdue them all.
“You can’t do this! The boss will hear about this!” Said the stooges.
“Well then you can discuss it with him in his cell. He is currently sleeping of [Stone]s in his own private cell. I’ll put you with him so you can discuss.” Said the guard.
“His Father will hear about this and then you’ll be sorry!” Said another stooge.
“His father made the request, why do you think I’m here? Actually, his father wouldn’t want people to know, and yet you are the one screaming at the top of your lungs.” Said the guard as he took them away.

Thief of Time
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] Book 1: The Legend of Tot Synopsis: Claud Primus, a self-declared master thief, has a simple goal. To live forever. It's a rather easy task, for miraculous objects called lifestones are able to extend one's lifespan. These lifestones are best found in the treasuries of nobles, lovely resorts that Claud pays a visit to every so often. Unfortunately, one of those nightly visits go awry, and Claud is forced to escape with just a single lifestone and a box in hand. Normally, that's when things die down. The guards yawn, the gates close, and the night continues. But this time, the night isn't that forgiving. A dozen schemes result in the murder of someone important, and with a convenient scapegoat — Claud — at hand, it doesn't take long for him to be framed as a heinous criminal, wanted for the indirect murder of someone high up...and it just gets worse from there. Book 2: The Moon Lords' Rise Synopsis: As ordered chaos sweeps across Licencia, Claud leaves for Julan Barony, intent on making some profits there. Accompanied by the erstwhile heiress of Julan, a fellow member of the Moon Lords, the two plot against the barony's wealth...as well as a promise to bring about its downfall. Meanwhile, back home, the Moon Lords have busied themselves with digesting their gains. Eyes, however, are beginning to turn to this proverbial fish in a small pond. The fishermen are coming. When they cast their hook, what will Dia and the others do? Book 3: Murders under the Moons Synopsis: In the sleepy town of Nachtville, where Claud and Lily are forced to stop at, a set of nasty murders occurs. Victims scream out in fright, before a spear falls from the sky to end their suffering. Cowed and cautious, the master thief and his partner slink in the shadows, their objective that of home... A new task, however, has fallen on Dia. With a trusty helper at her side, she has to set off towards Nachtville itself, to solve the mystery Claud had abandoned. Faced with an enemy whose sole skillset is geared towards killing, how will they succeed? And what dark secrets will they find? Book 4: In the Dark of the Moons Synopsis: The year has ended. The four months of the full moons will soon be followed by two months of the new moons. Duke Istrel's ascension is around the corner. Amidst this political upheaval, Count Nightfall, Licencia's strongest defender, has been called away. The Moon Lords' largest task yet — to protect Licencia in the absence of its ruler — has begun. And yet, trouble is unrelenting. A distinguished personage, one that Claud fears, has been found dead in the county, his brains dug out and his body disemboweled. The inquisitors of the White Church have been dispatched to investigate and apprehend the murderer...as well as the person behind this puppet. Tormented by a call to fight, Claud directs his eyes out of the city, looking for the puppetmaster. Skulking in the shadows, the master thief will soon confront his greatest foe yet. A foe just like him. Book 5: Moonlit Tides and Darkened Seas Synopsis: A new era has begun. For the privileged, the sands of time dribble away for every passing moment, counting down to the arrival of a entity of mythical proportions. The night now harbours shadows and fog, and operatives of the Moons and the Dark clash in shadow. Claud, as usual, is investigating a spate of nasty disappearances in the city, but little does he know what these disappearances truly mean. And yet, a tide is coming. When it finally breaks, what will he do? Book 6: Secrets in Shadow Synopsis: The person behind a strike that would enter the annals of history flees his home, bringing with him the person closest to his heart into a new land and into a new world. Having left Istrel for the first time in his life, the two of them attempt to settle down in foreign lands, only to be caught in the middle of hostilities between two mighty powers grappling for dominion. Yet, none of that has anything to do with him. Following his desires, Claud eventually makes his way to the fabled Celestia Ruins, a fragment of another world. Bearing witness to truths he cannot yet comprehend, he returns from his exploration, a small break away from the machinations of destiny. One thing, however, is for certain. Destiny will not wait for him. Book 7: Reddest Rage Synopsis: Destiny churns on, heedless of mortal machinations, and Claud watches as the battlegrounds between the Moons and the Dark are drawn up. With the forces of the great Dark occupying Lostfon, Claud comes to a startling realisation — that he may have very well be a murderer of heinous proportions. Grappling with that realisation, he struggles to prepare for his Second Tutorial... Back in Istrel, Dia finds herself confronted with a perennial truth. Even in a time of writhing destiny, the machinations between nobles never cease to end — and unfortunately for her, the group once known as the Moon Lords are forced into dealing with a petty squabble between two counts. What they didn't account for, however, was the startling discovery they would soon make... And the shadow of the Red God's Holy Son behind it all. Book 8: Darkness Descends Synopsis: Nightmares haunt the horizon as Claud sinks and awakens from a seeming dream. What was once illusory begins to play out before him, in a way he cannot imagine. Dia, forced to wield arms, begins and ends a battle that opens her eyes to the vast dangers that lurk in this sundered world. Under the banner of humanity and divinity, she beholds the silent, forgotten protectors of Orb...but there is no forgetting the battle between the divinities. The Dark descends, the Moons writhe, and the horns of war blow once more. But this is not their battle. Not yet. Book 9: Moons Muster Synopsis: As more and more events fall into place, Claud finds himself desperate. Not for himself, but for the person who has turned into his world. Armed with the knowledge of a certain future, he approaches the only person that could possibly help him in his time of need, trading information for a promise of help. With that as solace, he returns to the grim task of understanding and seeking, revisiting an ancient, shattered fragment of another world...unleashing changes that he never knew was possible. Back in Istrel, Dia and the others must now navigate around a familiar spirit, who seeks to investigate the death of his master's Bearer. With them as prime suspects, the Seekers of Life must move carefully...but the Coloured Gods are not the only divinities eyeing them closely. The Moons, bristling from repeated defeats, are looking for new recruits, and the Seekers of Life are prime cannon fodder. Above all, destiny marches on, the unfeeling clock a warning to all. The Trial of Aeons will soon arrive. Book 10: Destiny Divine Synopsis: ??? Release frequency: one every few days or something, I guess.
