《Guns in another world》Expedition l

"What is this place?" Fionn wondered as he looked around at the strange landscape.
There were pitch black towering trees all around him, so huge that their crowns could not be seen, no leaves could be seen on their branches, they appeared to be burned, but you could feel their vitality by touching their trunks.
If you look up at the sky, all you see is a thick cloud of black gas stretching as far as the eye can see. There is no sun, moon, or stars to be seen. The source of light is a question worth considering.
Fionn suddenly felt as if someone was staring at him; goosebumps sprung up all over his body, and he felt as if he was being watched by a predator.
With a wave of his hand, Fionn took a pendant from his spatial ring and wore it around his neck, grinning, he thought" so it noticed me." The pendant was all white and resembled a sea shell. When Fionn pressed a grove in the pendant, it flashed with a white light for a second before a transparent barrier engulfed him.
" Now It's better." Said Fionn gotten rid of the annoying sensation.
"Now lets explore this place" with a new goal set Fionn excitedly summoned his sky surfboard and shot towards the sky.
Fionn, reaching above the crowns of the trees, looked about from the vantage point of an eagle, seeing nothing but the endless vista of this strange Forest as far as his eyes could see. There was no sign of any living thing.
Suddenly, a sweet smell drew his attention, causing him to twitch his nose. Fionn began to track the fragrance's origin, "it's coming from above." Thought Fionn, as he peered up, all he could see was a swirl of black gas.

Fionn took a deep breath to better smell the fragrance; however, just moments later, the veins around Fionn's neck began to bulge and his head began to spin. "Damn this is poison," cussed Fionn, but despite his cussing, you could only see excitement in his eyes, his expression was comparable to that of a drug addict who has made it to the other side.
"Wow, that was quite toxic, although not nearly as much as the rank 2 toxins I ingested in the kingdom." Fionn exclaimed, swiftly regaining his senses.
Looking around at the black haze that filled the entire sky as far as the eye could see, Fionn thought, "If a typical expedition team entered this plane, they would all have died by flying."
Choosing a random direction Fionn set out on his expedition. He discovered nothing but trees for about an hour, and within that hour, he adjusted his direction quite a few times, after encountering what appears to be the plane's boundaries. The boundary was a barrier, similar in appearance to one-way mirror, that prevented him from moving any forward. "This plane has an irregular shape, but it's size is fairly small," Fionn mused after a few encounters with the borders.
Finally, after much searching, he discovered what he was looking for.
A mile away was a crudely constructed settlement, which was fairly large, almost the size of a town. There was no barricade around the settlement, and only a dozen or so huts could be seen inside; the settlement may appear little owing to the amount of huts, but it is not; the people that lived there were Cyclopes, and they numbered in the thousands.
"Of all the creatures in the cosmos, it has to be the Cyclopes," Fionn said, his smile bitter.

Fionn remained at his vantage point for a half-hour, surveying the settlement.
The only thing that stood out about the settlement was the massive magical array in the centre, which was half the size of a soccer field. The array was constantly emitting a blue light and every 15 minutes a couple of creatures resembling a ball of black mass emerged from it.
"They must be the Anomalies," Fionn thought as he gazed at the ball of black mass, his eyes gleaming.
"The only thing I needed to do now was entice one of those Anomalies to come out and my plan would be set in motion, but how would I do that? Entering recklessly would be suicide. These guys don't seem to have any plans of coming out anytime soon, what do these guys eat anyways, I didn't locate any other creatures here other than them," While scheming, he had a number of thoughts running through his mind as he continued to stare at the settlement.

The developers of the worlds leading VRMMORPG Edge Online have decided to shut down its servers after over a decade. Shugireth Darkstar, the leader of Pandemonium, Edge Online's top guild, suffers from a deadly disease and his end is near. He hasn't left his VR pod for 5 years, as the medical nanodroids at the hospital takes care of him. Without Edge, he will die, because his physical body has already been all but destroyed by the sickness. Seeing no light at the end of the tunnel, Shugireth Darkstar, the Master of Pandemonium, stubbornly stays behind as the servers shut down... If that was all, we could end this story right here. However, that was only the beginning of the legend of pandemonium. The prelude to the movement, if you will. Shall we see what happens next? -------------- Some notes from Me (The author, gasp surprise): I first wrote this (100k) as an experiment. I saw the advice about having foils for overpowered MCs, and I watched quite a few lectures on writing. I wanted to test things out for myself and see if I could carry a story through other ways than only relying on physical conflict like some thrillers do. Thus this might lean a bit towards slice of life with a romance subplot, but I don't want to give my story away so read it if u want to know more. This was basically never intended for anyone else's eyes but my own, and written to explore writing as a process. This wasn't my attempt at writing a good book, but it turned into something that I think might interest some people, so I decided to pop it up here. It is slightly old so my style and writing skills have advanced considerably since I first started this thing. Having said that, I think it's pretty readable, but I am very interested in how other people will receive this. Please feel free to criticize it and just in general shoot me some feedback on what you think. It contains light Litrpg elements, not heavy table spam, it's just the basis of the world. Although I like that sort of thing, this was written before I even knew of Royalroad and hadn't considered litrpg much. Some of you may recognize that it was slightly inspired by Overlord. Also, the Tags for sexual content and traumatizing content are there as a precaution on all of my stories pretty much, even if my story does not contain any of that at the moment. I can't really know what the future will bring, but in the case of this story I do know a little bit, since I wrote 100k words before posting it here. And I just posted it on a whim because I figured some readers on Royalroad might enjoy this story.
