《Hero Status: Revoked》Arc 1 - 27 - Check Out The Big Brain On Brad!

Kyle woke up a few hours later.
'Ahhh shit.' Kyle was upset.
'I don't have time for this.' Kyle was in the same room he was in the last time this happened, but he could tell he was out for longer this time. It was already dark when he was going home, but he wasn't even in the 1st district. There was no reason slave traders should have been grabbing children in the 2nd district.
"Aye, shit mayun, weez got dem kidz en der." Kyle could hear someone speaking an even worse version of the human language in the next room.
"Waz dey here you?" It made sense though, the human empire was larger than the kingdom, and it encompassed more lands. Over 3,000 years different ways of speaking popped up.
"Shiat mayun, it's don't madda." The men in the other room were going to start talking about something, and Kyle looked over to see that Beth was still asleep.
Kyle and Beth both had their feet and hands bound. This was an upgrade from the last time where only his hands were. The kidnappers also used a stronger sleeping poison, so they were better funded than the last ones.
"Oksey, it's reel asey." There were 3 men in the other room and they were going to be going over a plan of some sort. Kyle had really woken up at the best possible time.
"Whut we do es, wez kill dat boy and pud em enfront dey shop rite, en den wez get dah big coins."
"Dayum, dats gud."
"Shati, you da brainz."
The two congratulated the third for the great plan, and Kyle could understand the gist of if. They were going to kill him and leave him at the Valheart's shop, then demand coins from the Valhearts to get Beth back. It was a good plan, but they just happened to have chosen the 5th hero to kidnap. Luck was not on their side.

Kyle looked over at Beth and could see her with her eyes wide open. She too understood what was happening and was very frightened. Beth quickly looked between the door and Kyle, not knowing what to stop at. In here head, Kyle was going to be killed soon so that her parents would pay more money for her.
Kyle did not have many options for what to do right now. They both had gags in their mouth so they could not make sound or cast spells, but this did not apply to Kyle. Beth did not know that Kyle could cast spells without chanting, so what he was going to do would come as a big surprise.
Kyle used the tangerers to untie the bindings he had on and then took the gag from his mouth with his hands.
"Shhhh" Kyle said to Beth and put put his finger over his mouth to signal to her to be silent. Kyle then undid Beth's bindings and took the gag from her mouth too.
Kyle's use of spells in this situation was very limited. He could not use area affect spells because Beth would be hurt too, and if he went up to the door the kidnappers would know something was wrong. The reason magic was not all powerful in combat was because of two things, long chant times and the inability to aim area of affect spells.
Kyle cast [Silence] on himself and went to the door. He really wished [Invisible] was a status spell he could cast, but it was impossible. Kyle crouched beneath the window in the door and prepared to act quickly. Lightning magic would not work because it would be attracted to the metal door, and fire magic would obstruct his vision too much. Kyle was going to go with Ice magic.

'[Frost]' Kyle popped up from under the window and silently shot his spell into the next room. He used a large amount of power, and even though it was not as powerful as [Zero], Kyle was certain it took out the men in the other room. Kyle then removed the Silence status.
"Beth, come on!" Kyle waved to Beth as he used a tangerer to open the door.
"Right." Beth was still scared and did not understand what Kyle did, but she followed him.
It was a scary event for her, but now she just needed to escape this dungeon with Kyle.

Meek
After failing as an apprentice cooper and a town guard, Eli finds his place at the Rockbridge archives. Sure, he's the oldest 'junior scribe,' but he likes the job. And he's good at it, too. Then he completes an apparently-insignificant project, and the brutal reaction shocks him--with consequences that eventually shake the world. Eli gains powers. Rare and inhuman abilities. He progresses slowly, steadily, and not without setbacks. He changes, too. Is he a hero, a villain, a human, a monster? Depends who you ask. Meek is an epic fantasy with elements of progression. The basic magic is simple: five Paths, each with a different powerset. However, complexity arises from combinations, and the protagonist wields a magic all his own. Meek is set in the Valley, the only (as far as anyone knows) human empire that survived a Final Battle against a terrible foe. The Valley is warded against infiltration, but the enemy learned how to warp human souls, to foment discord within. However, another soul is also ... changed. Perhaps even 'warped.' And that soul is starting on a long (long, long) path that might, one day, prove that the Final Battle wasn't so final after all.

The Deathseeker [Under Revision]
NOTE: This story has dark elements, but it's neither grimdark nor particularly edgy. It's also currently being revised. Satan's Axe...Lord of High Honor...The Immortal Giant...The Black Maelstrom...Son of Thunderfield...The Gods' Retribution. Dalric had many names. None were as fitting as his last, Dalric the Deathseeker. Born from an unwanted mating between the greatest warriors of the time, death was his only true kin. It birthed him, molded him, and now standing in the middle of a lifeless battlefield, it drenched him. The blood of thousands of soldiers soaked his skin. Two hundred thousand men approached him that day. All of them sought his life, none of them left with theirs. But they would not die in vain, they had accomplished their mission. Hidden beneath a thousand layers of their blood, was Dalric's very own. Feeling his life fade, he gazed weakly at his work. A seemingly endless array of corpses laid battered and disfigured before him. Some bore faces of horror, most had no face at all. His most trusted companion floated in front of him, blocking the view. Waves of sorrow flowed between them. “My time has finally come. I’ve begged for death and it’s finally arrived. My work is done...and so is yours. You’re free to be who you were meant to.” With his contract with the gods fulfilled, they were truly free. The centuries of torment would end. No longer would they have to walk the path of a monster. Little did Dalric know, the devil was in the details. What To Expect: A good time. In a few more words than that, a cast of believable characters in a unique world dealing with conflicts and problems a little bit more complex than punching the big evil guy in the face. Just a little though. Minimum Word Count a Week: 5000 Release Time(s): Between Friday 12pm EST and Monday 6am EST I also write A King in the Clouds
