《Hero Status: Revoked》Arc 1 - 46 - School Days

Classes for Kyle were very normal. Kyle never explained how he knew things about magic, but when they went over something in class, Kyle pretended to instantly understand it, and not to have known about it beforehand.
Kyle did not listen to Ethics at all. He slowly fell asleep sooner and sooner after having entered the room, and soon both he and Beth were known for sleeping the entire class. There were some things that he might have missed that were important, but he would just have to repeat the class if he got the test wrong.
The test for ethics was bunch of situations, and Kyle had to write what he would do in them.
'A pipe on a building roof has burst.'
'A wall is deteriorating.'
'Someone is trying to light a fire on a cold night.'
Things like these. Kyle knew what do to in this situations though. Fix the pipe with earth magic. Don't fix the wall. Light the fire with magic. It was easy shit. One question he didn't understand was 'A baby is born with horns.'
'Cut off the horns?' Kyle had never seen a baby with horns, but he knew demons had horns sometimes. He would probably just cut them off to save it the humiliation.
Kyle pretended to be interested in Healing for Florianne's sake. "Look at this rubbery bit, it should take more mana to repair than the other parts!" Kyle mentioned things like that to Florianne as they dissected things to learn about how organisms were made up.
For the test, it was to identify parts from an animal that needed healing, and the amount of mana that would be needed for it. A surface wound was 1.0, and easier things would be 0.5 and harder things would be 1.5, multiplication knowledge was needed, but a guide explaining these numbers was at the top of the paper. Kyle easily passed this.
Lunch was the most eventful of all the periods. In addition to Kyle bringing Beth into the group, Micky brought another girl. Perhaps it was one of the things Jocelyn liked about him, but Micky did not like to be showed up. The new girl was Placide, from Micky and Kyle's Fire class. She was not very special, but was glad to be part of the group. Placide, like Jocelyn, admired Micky for his tough guy attitude. Even though she joined the group at lunch, she was not clingy like Jocelyn was.
Earth magic for Kyle was mostly listening to Micky talk about beating people up. Apparently, Micky was raised by some kind of gang in his town, and fighting was very important to them. People who fight focus on their muscles and strength, and that is an important thing for earth magic. Rock hard muscles, rock hard magic. Maybe Micky's muscles weren't rock hard, but he had the right mentality. Jocelyn naturally picked up the mentality after hanging around him so much.
The test for earth magic was to make a cube, a ball, a cylinder, and a triangle. Kyle once again easily passed.

Fire magic was the best class. Professor Genesis did not help students very much, and mostly let then do whatever they wanted. For his test, the students had to use [Flame] for a minute. It was not hard for anyone.
After classes, Kyle would help either Beth or Florianne with magic, but not at the same time.
Kyle would go to the practice field with Florianne and do Fire or Ice magic, and when he was with Beth he would do Lightning magic.
Florianne started to grasp Fire and Ice a little better than before, and joked that Kyle knew more than professor Foghat or professor Squier, her professors for ice and fire.
Beth was alright with Fire and Ice, but she was really good at lightning. Compared to the other students in her class, she was at least 3 times as good. Beth could use [Static] now.
Beth never said anything about Kyle spending time with Florianne, but sometimes looked like she was going to. Florianne did not skip the chance to say something about dropping Beth, but Kyle did not listen to her.
Kyle continued sending letters to Claire, and even got a few back. Claire was not very good at writing, but Kyle could make out most of the words. Claire was making lots of friends in Thornberry, but she made sure to mention in every letter that she never stopped thinking about Kyle.
'That girl ain't right.' Kyle thought in a Texan drawl, as he closed the letter she sent him.
The biggest thing that Kyle did was not inside the school though, it was outside of it.
Kyle used the brown cloak and mask to use his healing magic on people and make money. He made serious money. His standard fee was 1,000 coins to heal one thing, and it usually made it better than it was before it was injured.
Many people had feet problems. A cast of [Regrow] would correct any errors in the bones and on the skin, and it made walking much more comfortable.
The spell [Cure] was known by most healing mages, but they might not know the disease someone had. This made them use a lot of mana and only able to use it once or twice, 3 times if they had a lot of mana. For Kyle, this was not a problem. He healed dozens of people with strange diseases.
Eventually, the Masked Mage was being followed everywhere he went by a group of loyal devotees. Kyle started to use abiit form for entering and exiting the school, and sometimes when just walking around the city. Most of his work was done in the south side, and he sometimes went into the 1st district.
After the end of 5 months, Kyle had almost 100,000 coins. He paid back Florianne quickly, and never asked Elena for money.
Elena had come to see him again, this time when he was awake. She was relieved that he was fine, but Kyle reassured her that if it happens again, he could come out fine and he knew what was happening.

School would be ending in just half a month, and now all that was left for Kyle to do was to say goodbye to the friends he had made. Kyle did not see Marvin Akira the whole time, and assumed he was doing work for the school.
POV: Kyle Mercer, Vegaville Mage School, Girls Dorm
Well, we leave school in half a month, sooooooooo I might as well!
HAHHAHA Abiit form I love you! No bathhouse will be safe with you at my side!
It would be a total waste to leave the school and not once enter the girl's bathhouse right?
"OMG Tiffany, you should have just used [Frost] on her."
"But that would have hurt her too."
"Anyone who picks up toads for fun deserves it."
Those nasty girls, they have no idea I'm here... hahahaha.
Here they go, the final countdown.
It's coming off!
It's!
It's.
It's not that great.
No, it down right sucks.
This sucks. I'm leaving.
It is the end of the school year, and everyone is getting their things packed up and taking them away. Tyler was not much of a bother to Kyle for the rest of the year, and hurriedly left the school early in the morning with two huge suitcases. Kyle only had one suitcase, but it had his clothes, the stick from Dave, and his cloak and mask in it.
Kyle went to see Professor Springsteen.
"Goodbye Professor."
"You're going to have to repeat this class next year Kyle. Almost everything you said about the other races was wrong." Kyle used his previous experience to think of how he would deal with situations, and apparently after the human-demon war the relationship between all the races of the continent declined significantly.
"Good to know Professor. See you next year!" Kyle waved and left the room. He did not care about repeating classes because he already knew all the information he could learn from mage school.
Kyle then went to see Professor Riz.
"Goodbye Professor."
"You did really well in this class Kyle, even though you missed so much."
"Yeah, it all just comes naturally to me."
"Well have a great break."
"Bye!" Kyle left that class too. This farewell meetings with Professor Toto and Professor Genesis were very similar to the one with Professor Riz, and in less than 2 hours he had said goodbye to them all.
Next was to say goodbye to Micky Jocelyn and Florianne. They all came from the same town, just like how Kyle and Beth came from the same town.
"See you guys next year." Kyle said to the group of 3 as they left to get a carriage.
"We all need to meet up when we come back next year." Jocelyn suggested.
"Yeah that's a good idea. How about we meet up over there?" Kyle pointed to a spot to the left of the gate to the school.
"Yeah that will work. We all meet up there." Micky agreed to it, so Jocelyn would be fine too.
"Hey Kyle, can we talk over there for a sec?" Florianne asked Kyle.
"Um, sure." Kyle followed Florianne a little bit away so that the rest of the group could not hear her.
"You like to write letter?" She asked him. Florianne had heard about it from Micky that Kyle writes letters to Thornberry every week.
"Yeah I like to write letters. Why?"
"Then you could write letters to me while we are on break. Here is my address." Florianne held out a paper with her house address on it. Florianne was from a town called Slantana to the north, and it would take about 3 days for a letter to travel between Thornberry and there.
"Okay, I'll write to you as soon as I can, and i'll include my address so you can write back." Kyle was glad that he would not stop stop hearing from Florianne over the break.
"Alright, bye Kyle." Florianne waved goodbye and joined her friends. The three of them got into a carriage and left for Slantana.
Kyle went to the girl's dorm and waited outside of it for Beth to come out. Kyle could sneak in with abiit form, but too many girls were coming out to risk it. A few minutes later, Marvin Akira came to see him.
"So how did you like your first year of school Kyle?" Marvin asked. He had the same gray robe he had before, and the strange wizards hat.
"It was alright. It's too bad that I have to retake Ethics again."
"Don't worry about that Kyle. Ethics is very important. It teaches you how to respond to a situation that might not require magic."
"Well thanks for doing so much for my family."
"It's alright. I was happy to get someone with prospects like you into my mage school."
"Okay. I see someone I know coming from the dorms, so I have to do."
"Alright Kyle, have a great break and I know you will do better next year."
Kyle walked over to Beth who was now standing just a few dozen feet from the entrance to the dorms. Kyle had missed her walk about while talking to Marvin, but saw her walking away from the entrance and eventually stop.
"Hey Beth, ready to go?" Kyle only had the one case, so he carried it with him all over the place.
"Yeah I'm ready. The carriage should be by the entrance." Beth had came to Vegaville with her father Reginald a few days before school started. Reginald had business in the city and Beth was able to go from their hotel to the enrolling site.
"Okay let's go." Kyle walked with Beth and they both got into a carriage at the entrance to the school. All the carriages waited till 13:00 to leave, and they would not get to Thornberry until night.

Brilliantly complex, adoringly rendered and quizzically intense. A must read and one I plan to revisit, and share!"- Amgwatts, Wattpad Reader"This has to be one of the most original and well written novels I have had the pleasure to read, on Wattpad and in general. It was captivating, interesting, immersive and above all, fantastic. I was left in awe of the beings, history and world you created. It was never dull, dry or predicable and it was a nice change from what seems to be the ever popular teen romance with vampires or werewolves or 'bad boys that are actually romantic good boys.' In the end it was a very pleasant surprise."-IridescentLies, Wattpad Readerhttp://dawnoftheepoch.weebly.com
