《Bloodshed》Sigyn

She watched the man who was to be her husband and wondered what the mortal possessed that she did not. The mortal was exceptionally beautiful, by mortal standards anyway. She stood at a little over 5’4” with the blackest hair she had ever seen and flawless ivory skin. To many mortals, she could have been a model were she closer to 5’6”. Despite her beauty and obvious intelligence, she could see no conceivable reason for her betrothed to lower himself to mix with mortals. He couldn’t be that fascinated by the girl, could he? She was mortal and they were disgusting. Not to mention they died, hence the whole mortal part. Even though she knew nothing of the girl, she hated her. She hated her because this girl was taking away her love and she didn’t even know she was doing it.
Sigyn shook off the unbidden memory and sighed. These old memories had been popping up more and more recently as Loki’s interest strayed to the girl. At first, she thought he had cursed her in a petty act of retribution against her mother, since she rejected him. But the more she looked at the situation, the less that idea made sense. She pitied the girl really. Loki’s interest wasn’t something you wanted to gain, especially when he became obsessive like this. Signe sighed. She had to accept that her husband would never love her the way she wanted him to.

Shadows in the Dawn Mist
[participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] - Winner November 2020 When a young woman is lured back to her homeland for the opportunity of a life time, she must face old fears. But never would she think that facing up to her past would change everything. Is History written by the victors, or by someone or something else...? *** I started writing this a few years ago and eventually fell out of love with it. I never finished it and my newer books are being written in different writing style, and genre with a more planned process. I decided to revisit it for the writathon and found that it wasn't as hopeless as I'd come to think. Hopefully, I've improved as a writer since them so the consistency may vary. Its been good to revisit and analyse my writing which I feel used to have some clunky and obvious dialogue which I'm trying to fix. This will always be my first novel and I hope, with a little exposure, I may come to like it again. Thanks for reading!

Divinity
“Let an old warrior caution you, there are parts of every tale that are not told. The part where none of those mighty champions died peacefully in their beds. The part where the hero meets their end surrounded by the enemy and in horrible agony. They were alone in their final moments and unsure if their sacrifice would bear fruit. I do not want that for you.” The Heavens created the Realm of Man and saved it from the eternal silence of the Void - once. Centuries later, humanity’s unity has fractured beneath the weight of time and the whims of man. Raegn Edelgard fights on in his home of Bastion, one of two everlasting fortifications to protect the Realm from the remnants of the darkness that still persist. Raegn hoped to be written into legend alongside the stories that inspired him since childhood, yet the scouting skirmishes and small battles that have been fought since the time of his forefathers offer little chance at glory. When the Void wakes once more the Realm questions if the first war was ever really won…and if they might be saved again. Raegn is left searching for purpose and must navigate through a world teetering on the brink of extinction. Dire times create the greatest heroes, but tales that stand the test of time are written twice - in blood before ink.Divinity is a fantasy series about Raegn Edelgard, a young man who must make his way through a world that is struggling to realize it is, for the second time in its history, teetering on the brink of extinction.
