《Rise of the Three Gods》Joshua's talent

Cross's clone now stayed permanently at the mansion with Eric and the others! Harmony and Michael stuck close to him quite a lot! Their bodies now started looking more normal. Michael was a bit buff while Harmony was delicate and shy.
Cross's clone job was to focus all his time on studying blacksmithing and indeed this ended up well! at first he read the book 10 times over and he only started to understand the properties of metal and its components! this book was really complicated. Before you even start to smith! you need to understand metal!
It had tens of thousands of metals! God knows how many metals Ariel encountered to write this much! And each Metal had its properties written! the fire degree required for it to melt! the best temperature to star hammering it ! when to meld its shape and these were only the basics!
The main part of the technique was using sould force to guide the operation! Cross respected his master more and more each time he understood something new! he found himself extremly babylike in this new world! The book itself was priceless! it was a treasure to any blacksmith!
It also had notes about expirements of making new metals! This was what Caused Ariel's death! He found a way to mix essences from different metals into new metal! harder, more durable, stronger and more flexible! it depended on the characteristics of the metals combined! The metallic essence seeped into his life force during an experiment! This caused his corpse to become metallic like a statue later on! Vince did not know this as he had buried him in flesh! This was still way too far out of reach for the current Cross! Another thing was required was a sentient forge and hammer! Which Cross went to pick up himself and pay his respects to his late master! He spent 2 days there thanking him profusely!
The two brothers also gained another level of profound respect when hearing about this which then inspired Eric to create new medecine as well! He had essence eyes! something never seen before! Making it easier to find compatible herbs!

This was another normal day! Joshua , the little boy Eric saved out of pity, was now living really happily! He ate really good food, unlike Eric! The others all treated him nicely and did not force him!
He was really loved, he handled everything they gave him with excitement, and since he helped everyone handle matters , they looked at him more favorably! be it slaves or Core members of the mercenaries!
He played With Amelia when she was here, but now he plays with harmony and michael.
One day, Cross sent him to get him a metallic lotus! He immediately ran to Eric , But Eric was in his lab, so he waited until he came out . He then took the lotus back to Cross's room but Cross was not there!
He placed the lotus next to the open book and he glanced at it. he saw a hammer going down on a piece of metal and his eyes lightened up!
This book was not something he could understand , but he seemed to grasp something from that picture! He was always a curious kid, this is why he learnt he read and write just by listening to private teachers! He was the son of a maid working at a household of some officer! And when they caught him eavesdropping they beat him and sent him to the slave market! where he met Eric who saved him from the verge of death!
he read the book more and more ! he kept flipping pages not noticing cross at the door looking at him with a smile. 2 hours passed and Joshua was still engrossed in the book!
Cross coughed and Joshua jumped! he Looked at Cross and knew he did something bad! They treated him nicely but he read the young master's books without his permission. His eyes teared up and he kneeled down!
"I am sorry young master! please punish me! please do not throw me out!"
Cross looked at him and shook his head! then said:
"If i wanted to throw you out , I wouldn't wait here for 2 hours!"

" 2 hours?" Joshua was shocked! he stayed here for 2 hours? he felt it was a minute!
"so what did you understand? tell me honestly " Cross said with a smile
" yes, young master!" seeing Cross not angry at him, Joshua was finally relieved. He then started explaining what he understood. THis shocked the living shit out of Cross! This technique required one to have tremendous strength! Yet this little guy took its core and somehow shaped it into his own form of blacksmithing! It had some subtle mistake that Cross noticed but this was not something an ordinary kid could do!
He started explaing to him what he got wrong! Joshua was very happy seeing his young master helping him and not angry at him! This made him feel blessed! The more they talked the more they saw things from new angles! This was not talk between blacksmithing master but two apprentices sharing their views! Cross allowed Joshua to read the book as much as he wanted making the latter cry with joy!
They indeed both benefitted from it quite a lot!
Time passed and Cross asked Joshua :
" what type of weapon would you forge for yourself?"
"I don't know! Something that hits from afar! I don't like melee fights!"
" haha! so an archer! then I'll get Eric to teach you!" Said Cross! He was very pleased with joshua and treated him like a friend! Only Aria, Harmony michael and Joshua knew Cross, Eric and Vince's names now! but they still did not know they were brothers!
"Not bow! too big!"
"haha then what do you want a gun?"
"what's a gun?"
" ah!!" Cross was stumped for words! gun was from his last world.
"it's also a weapon that hits from a far! you put bullets which are small piece of metal and they go off just like a bow! but they are smaller and more deadly! its shape is like this!" Cross explained the basic things about guns!
"but why does no one use such a great weapon!"
"because it's a special weapon! and only very very few know about it!"
"is the gun you drew the only special weapon?"
"No! there are different kinds! this is a sniper! It strikes from really far away! this is a rifle and it has small range but amazing burst power! This is a ray gun it shoots the inner force of the body as a bullet!" Cross changed the power from the futuristic immaginary weapon to inner force to make it more believable
Joshua's eyes lit up! upon seeing these weapons! he was hooked! He asked without thinking:
" Young master can we make special weapons?"
" Yes! I think we can! but not now! maybe when we advance more in Blacksmithing!"
"Young master, I will build a special weapon and fight with you!"
"haha, then so be it! we shall forge it and Eric shall teach you some techniques as he is the best fighter with range i know!"
" I will definetly not let the two young masters down!"
Months passed and Cross and Joshua made the first prototypeof a gun that uses inner force!
More months passed and a working Gun made from starlight essence and metallic lotus was made but kept as Joshua Trained using the prototype, he was now considered a core member as well as a half disciple to both Cross and Eric.
He never felt this blessful to belong to family! His mother has abandoned him to the slave market to save her own skin! she did not even plead for him!
Strange how small events change one's destiny! If he had not been thrown into the slave market! he would not meet Cross and Eric! And he would not Become the first in history to create another path! The gunner path! A new foundation! watch as he rises above the masses with his created weapon of designs coming from earth and evolves into something much more!

Sword System Academia
2/17 NOTICE: I'm putting this on hiatus, possibly permanently. I didn't want to spam with an "update chapter", so hopefully here and in the story blurb will get enough eyeballs. There are a couple reasons for ending SSA for now. 1) I wrote the next chapter but wasn't happy with it. I've been less and less satisfied with SSA's quality the more I thought about it. Part of the reason is... 2) I am seriously thinking about trying to publish some novels to help pay the bills, since I don't have my other source of income anymore. I have never asked for anything from SSA readers, no money, not even a review or rating. SSA is written for fun to amuse myself, primarily, and I would kind of feel bad actually charging someone money for something as unserious as that. I don't think it is good enough to ask anything in return. To use an analogy from music, SSA is more like a jam session with a bunch of friends. You're just chiling and having fun playing some music. I mean, if you are Mozart or even Eminem, your jam session is good enough to sell, but for an amateur beginner like myself, haha, no. If I want to publish something, I feel like I need to go the proper route of practice and rehearsals, which might be more similar to a classical concert performance. With SSA, I work from worldbuilding notes and a loose outline, but what you are essentially getting is the first draft with lots of so-called pantsing. Pushing out a web novel like this also means it is very difficult to go back and improve things without breaking everything else downstream. I wanted to try this "jamming" approach, as it was a good way to teach me about another aspect of writing, but to move forward, I think I need to hone my "classical" techniques, which emphasize rewriting, or at least, revising outlines. 3) While I intend to try to make $$$, my actual current goal is to "get gud". I've spent a lot of time recently trying to understand the self-publishing industry, and I'm pretty sure I can make some money by using short-term strategies with my current amateur skill level. But I've seen too many authors come and go/burnout, and really, the only way that I think I can enjoy writing and still make money on a long-term basis is to become a better writer. And the next step for me, which I haven't done much before, is to spend more time on rewriting and outlines. That is pretty much antithetical to the way SSA is developing. I've always been kind of 20/80 plotting/pantsing, but I want to spend a lot more time outlining before I even start writing. SSA jam sessions don't really fit my goal anymore. If you're curious about what's next, read on... Among other regrets, I regret not finishing SSA. It's the first story I've dropped, but then again, it's the first web novel I've attempted, so I suppose that's not a surprise. I don't think traditional web novel formats suit me that well. The whole SSA story I had loosely planned (beyond a first book or major arc) is way too large as well. Big story = good for neverending webnovel with Patreons, bad for penniless and fickle writer like me. I am currently outlining a complete trilogy to another story in great detail. I want the story to end concisely, and I also want the chance to really spend a lot of time on the full outline to spot pacing problems, character issues, lost themes, and so on. I'll still share this story on RR. What I intend to do is finish book 1, flash-publish the whole thing here for a few weeks, then publish on the big Zon. Repeat for books 2 and 3. The upcoming story will be about crafting heroes. The backdrop is an isekai-like setting, where elves will summon humans to their world as heroes, but the whole hero crafting business is still in its infancy. The elven mage researchers are figuring out how to imbue heroes with power, while the heroes are trying to figure out how to use the powers that they gain. Humans are the best hero templates because they are blank and have no intrinsic magic. Or at least that what the elves thought. The human MC has his own secrets... There will be some similarities with litrpgs, but I would call it more a progression fantasy or gamelit story. For example, the stats are very low, at least initially. Say we have a stat called Str. Going from Str = 1 to Str = 2 is a huge deal. Also, going from Dex = 0 to Dex = 1 is an even bigger deal. I guess you could call it a "low-stat litrpg", haha. Also, the heroes won't be gaining stats simply by killing things or leveling up. You can't increase stats arbitrarily, either. There will be rules to how stats can increase, and how they work with each other. The elven mages will be figuring out these rules in order to craft stronger and stronger heroes. Some inspiration will be from cultivation magic systems, but there won't be overt cultivation, at least for now. A theme I really want to explore is the idea of interactions. That includes things like hero crafter vs hero, tactics vs strategy, skill synergies, racial interactions (dwarves, elves, etc), and son. Yeah, so hero crafting. I'm super excited about this project and venturing into publishing. If you want to check out the upcoming story, you can follow my RR author profile to see when it drops here. Finally... THANK YOU TO EVERYONE! I'm very sorry that SSA is stopping, but I hope at least some of you will find the next story at least as enjoyable, if not more. Thanks to all the readers who gave SSA a shot. Big hug or solid fistbump to all of you, whichever you prefer! I hope this message is not a downer but an upper, because I am psyched!! -purlcray -------------- BLURB: Talen, youngest Master of the Koroi, makes his way to the Empire's capital to salvage his clan's fate. But the bustling city has few opportunities for the traditionalist. For the old sword clans are fading. With the rise of alchemy, gold can purchase strength that ordinarily took years of training to cultivate. Sword artists, once rare and accomplished, are quickly growing in number, especially among the wealthy noble class. Even with such alchemy, though, no one has advanced to the rank of Grandmaster in countless years. Talen's true dream is to walk the path of a sword artist to the very end while fulfilling his clan duties. And then the Swordgeists return, fabled founders of all sword arts, gods who had touched the world long ago and vanished. These myths turned into reality warn of a coming threat. Alongside this warning, they issue an invitation to the Sword System Academy, a path to power beyond the mortal realm. But first, they will hold an entrance exam... Story notes:Sword System Academia blends elements of western and asian fantasy such as xianxia and litrpg. I took parts from different genres I enjoyed and twisted them into my own creation. There will be an explicit system, both of the litrpg kind and the hard(ish) magic kind, but it is embedded within an academic structure that will develop over the course of the story. This is my attempt to design a unique type of system, the System Academia.

Legends of Balarel - A Leisurely LitRPG
Glenn Redwood has longed to become an Adventurer since he was a young boy, and has focused every waking moment on that goal since turning 14. Answering the challenge of the Gods of Balarel, he has fought Monsters, Leveled, and grown stronger. Yet the day before his 16th birthday, the day he will earn his dream or lose it forever ... the Gods have made a wager. And no mere mortal wishes to draw the attention of the Gods. ***** This is my crack at writing a leisurely LitRPG. My focus is more on telling interesting stories set in a world where people live under a MMORPG-like ruleset enforced by the Gods, and less on writing another story where the MC gets massive stat boosts every chapter before heading off to wreck the world. There will be plenty of blue tables (it’s LitRPG!) but my Adventurers are just starting out. This fic is about the journey, not the destination, so expect everyone to Level ... leisurely. Updates: M-T-W-Th. I’ll post 3000-4000 words a day, or 12000-15000 words a week. If this posting pace ends up being too much for me, I reserve the right to slow posts down a bit. Inspirations: Blessed Time (Royal Road) Is It Wrong To Try To Pick Up Girls In a Dungeon? (Anime) Trails in the Sky (JRPG Series) MC: My MC is a genuinely good person who’s both a talented warrior and tactically savvy. He prefers to solve problems without violence but will resort to force if necessary to protect his friends or innocent people. I’m tired of stories starring anti-hero MCs facing endless doom and gloom, so I wanted to write a nice guy with an adventurous spirit who helps people in a thriving fantasy world. That’s all.
