《When Paths Converge: A MHA Fanfic》20. Worry and Reassurance

Following Eraserhead as he moved through the city on foot with his sister unconscious in his arms had Izuku on edge, he was searching to make sure no cops or heroes were around, his body tensing whenever he saw another person out at one seventeen in the morning. He almost collapsed when the pro had walked to the door of a plain looking apartment building. He was about to drop down beside him, when the Pro lifted a hand, making him hesitate before he saw a woman walk out of the shadows.
She was tall, wearing a long black shirt that fell almost to her knees, the sleeves extending pass her hands and it had a raised collar that hid her face below her nose. The shirt had a neon green biohazard symbol on the chest and had two stripes of the green at each shoulder and a swipe along the bottom of the shirt, her legs covered with matching green tights that disappeared into black knee high combat boots. She had a dark gray utility belt around her hips. What he could see of her skin, she had lightly tanned skin and multiple piercings in her ears, eyebrows and nose. Her hair was shaved on the right side and swept to the left, the strands a neon green with black stripes. Her eyes were a dark mocha brown. Izuku reached up to adjust the range on the comm in his ear.
“Toxic.” Eraser’s deep grumble broke the silence.
“Eraserhead.” Her accent was definitely American, though it wasn’t terrible. “Why do you have a child?”
“She was hit by an experimental Trigger bullet, she passed out when I erased her Quirk. She can’t go to a hospital-”
“Is this ControlFreak? You’re helping a vigilante, Eraser? Why not take her in when she can’t fight?” The woman’s eyes narrowed as she crossed her arms over her chest. Izuku almost leapt down, there was no way he was going to let that happen! The only thing that made him pause was the words Eraserhead spoke, a chord of steel in his voice.
“She is a child who is hurt. I called you because we are friends, Toxic. I need you to trust me with this. Are you going to help me, or not?”
There was a pause as the adults stared each other down, before the woman gave a sigh that almost rivaled one of Eraser’s own. “Fine. You owe me a favor for this, you know, and this time you can’t pay me off with ramen.”
“Not even ramen from that one shop in Tokyo?”
“You bastard...a week’s worth of it and you got a deal.”
“Fine, can you look at her now?” He carefully moved her hair aside to show her the welt from the injection.
“Dang, right near the neural tissue. Trigger can get tricky.” She stepped closer, pushing her sleeve up to reveal fingers that were black from the fingertip up, fading when they got closer to her palm. She placed a gentle fingertip to the area, her eyes changing from brown to neon green. “Hmm, the traces are faint, so you shouldn’t have to worry much anymore.” As her fingertip pulled away drops of green liquid seeped out of her skin, floating in the air until a small sphere of the toxin formed. Toxic pulled a small vial from a pouch to collect it before corking it and handing it to Eraser.
“Thanks.” He held it in his hand as he bowed his head a bit.

“You can thank me with dinner. She’s going to feel like shit when she wakes up. Make sure she hydrates. Text me if you need anything, ‘kay?” She turned around and started to walk away, disappearing around the corner. Izuku grappled his way down at Eraser’s signal, quickly going to open the door for him so the man could carry Yui-nee inside.
He scurried after him as he led the way upstairs, “Elevator hasn’t worked in three months.” At his groan Eraser snorted, “Don’t complain, problem child, exercise is good for you.” Five floors later he was pulling a key out of a small pouch before walking up to a door near the end of the hallway. “Watch your feet, the devils try to dash out any chance they get.”
With that he opened the door and walked inside, Izuku on his heels to close the door before two furry streaks wound around their ankles. Eraser toed off his boots, kicking them by the wall before he walked over to the plush gray couch. He blinked, slipping out of his sneakers before he followed him.
The apartment was around the same size as theirs , the walls a pale blue and a ton of pictures on the wall , the glass door leading to the balcony was framed by light gray curtains. Yui-nee was laid down on the couch, her head propped up by a pillow.
Izuku jumped, his fist raising as a mumbling voice came from his left. A man with long blonde hair falling around his shoulders blinked yellow-green eyes at them, standing in the doorway. “Sho? Whaz happenin?” he yawned, stumbling forward.
“ It's fine, Zashi, go back to bed.” Eraser’s gruff voice took on a soft note, dark eyes softening as he looked at the other man.
The blonde pouted before his eyes flicked to Izuku and he let out a shriek. The noise made the pictures on the wall shake before a glowing red glare cut it off , leaving the shriek still going but less likely to shatter windows. “Hizashi, be quiet .” He hissed, his hands over Yui-nee’s ears. The man’s face tinted pink.
“Sorry Sho… he surprised me…”
“Just…can you start coffee? Please? He won’t hurt you. Null this-"
“OhmyKami! You’re Present Mic!” Izuku blurted out, pointing at him, “I didn’t recognize you with your hair like that and you’re not wearing your glasses but that’s definitely the same voice! Wait, do you live together? Are you dating?” he rambled out, bouncing in place.
He blinked down at him, “Um…we're married… Sho who is this?”
“I knew it! Yui-nee owes me ten thousand yen!” he giggled before he blinked, clearing his throat, “Oh um…sorry, I’m Null! It’s nice to meet you!” he bent down in a bow.
“You’re Null?! You’re so tiny! Sho! You didn’t say he was so small!” Present Mic squealed, “ Sho talks about you all the time!”
“ Zashi !” Eraser hissed, “Please calm down, Control got hit by Trigger and she’s resting.”
“Oh no! Is she okay, why didn’t you take her to the hospital?” He asked, leaning over the couch to look at her. Eraser pulled down her mask and took the goggles off, Izuku felt himself pale as he looked down at her.
There were dried tracks of blood from her eyes, nose and mouth, and the skin on her right cheek down to her mouth was pink with little blisters. Eraser turned over the mask, the inside fabric was burned to show the fried circuitry. Present Mic ran off, there was a yelp and a thud before he was running back with a first aid kit.

Eraser started to clean up the blood and treat the burn. “Will it scar?” Izuku asked softly, relieved when the adult shook his head.
“ Its barely first degree. The burn cream is really strong so she won’t scar,” his voice was soft .
“Yeah! Pro heroes get the good stuff!” Mic smiled as he winked, shooting him finger guns .
Eraserhead pulled off her gloves, frowning softly as pieces of microchips spilled to the floor. Her hands had dozens of small cuts from them. “ W hat are these?”
“Oh, those are a part of her Quirk… ” Izuku cut himself off, biting down on his lip.
He nodded as he cleaned her hands and bandaged them. Eraser gently pulled the fried comm out of her ear, looking inside as he frowned. “She is extremely lucky, this thing is fried, I expected more burns on the inside. But it’s just a little red. Whatever happened to the electricity...maybe she absorbed it? I think it only burned her face a bit because of the cloth.” Izuku helped take off her boots, putting them by the door , Eraser put a blanket over her. “Now we wait , do you want to sleep kid? ”
He shook his head, “I’ll stay awake until she’s up. ” He smiled behind the mask as Present Mic went to the kitchen and started the coffee pot. Eraser picked up a briefcase that was leaning against the wall before he sat down in an armchair. He pulled out a stack of papers and a red pen.
“Sho, go shower. I’ll stay up with your little listeners.” The blonde called out, “Null, do you drink coffee? I have hot chocolate, water, milk, juice pouches, or some Kami awful energy drink,”
Eraser heaved a sigh before he dropped the papers on the coffee table and stood up. “ Those are my juice pouches Zashi, and the energy drink is not awful,” he grumbled as he shuffled to the door Mic had come out of.
“You can share with your kid!” he called out, the only response was the door shutting as he chuckled.
Izuku blinked, scratching the back of his head, “ Um, Present Mic, sir?”
“You can call me Yamada, lil' listener, I’m not on the clock!” He grinned at him as he pulled his hair back in a bun.
“O-okay Yamada-san. Do you think I could look over those for Eraser? It looked like homework and I know he’s a teacher and I want to do something to say thank you for bringing her here and making sure she’s okay-" he started to ramble off.
“Woah there, kiddo. How’d you know he was a teacher?”
“Oh he mentioned his students didn’t give him as bad a headache as we did and Nee-chan did some digging until she found out he worked at U.A.” he lifted his shoulders in a shrug.
Yamada’s eyes widened, “How did she find that out?”
“ Umm…she’s really good with computers…” he bit his lip, should he be telling him this? He was pretty sure that Eraser knew Yui-nee was tech savvy, just not how skilled she was at breaking through security and sifting through information.
“But that information is only available on U.A. records…or maybe the hero commission’s files…”
“Um…fuc-fudge… ” he stopped himself from swearing in front of one of his favorite heroes , Dabi and Yui-nee really were bad influences with how often they swore. “She said that U.A.’s firewall and security is the best challenge that she likes to test…” He watched the man pale, “She ’ d never abuse the information she finds! She barely tells me anything, I promise she wouldn’t give it to villains!” he waved his hands around in a panic.
“I…I believe you, kiddo. Sho wouldn’t work with you if he didn’t trust you…I’m just worried about someone finding out. Anyway, what would you like to drink?”
“…Can I try one of the juice pouches? Eraser never shares when I ask…” he admitted, bouncing a bit as he looked up at him.
The older man let out a snicker as he pulled two from the fridge, tossing them to him before he walked into the living room with a mug of coffee that looked closer to chocolate milk than coffee.
He grinned as he popped off the cap before he lowered his mask and took a sip. “Oh , wow it’s so sweet! ”
Mic's eyes widened a bit at his unfiltered voice, and oh kami look at those freckles! His fingers itched to yank off the mask , the lil’ listener was probably the cutest kid! But he’d wait, he was a responsible adult, and he could respect the kid until he was trusted enough to see his face.
He smiled, “ Sho says it's his way to stay awake when I won’t let him drink coffee. And don’t worry about the homework, Sho teaches hero law and he’s pretty picky. ” He chuckled softly as he sat down.
“I’m not picky, you can’t give half assed answers and pray that they’re going to be good enough.” The gruff voice made them both jump, Izuku froze with the juice pouch still in his mouth as those dark eyes fell on him. “Zashi, you know how much sugar is in that? He’s going to be bouncing. Null doesn’t get caffeine or excess sugar. I told you about the energy drink incident.”
The kid’s face flushed at the memory, so he’d spent that patrol running ahead of them and jumping at them to hurry up and rambling a million words a minute until he’d accidentally slammed into a wall and Eraser had caught him with his capture weapon…and then had carried him like a backpack as Yui-nee laughed and recorded it. That wasn’t so bad, right?
Eraser walked into the living room in a pair of black sweatpants and a bright yellow sweatshirt that had the ‘Put Your Hands Up’ Radio logo on it. He had a huge coffee mug with cat ears on it, the handle forming a tail. He reclaimed his seat before he threw a bottle of water at him, watching the kid fumble the catch.
“ Try to dilute the sugar, problem child.” He grumbled before he took a drink of coffee and started to grade the papers.
He nodded and took a sip when he pulled his phone out of his pocket. He could catch up on the hero news as he waited. His eyes widened when he saw his notifications, he had six missed calls and about fifteen messages from Toshi, crap he forgot to text him!
LavenderDaydream:
Hey, you doing okay?
You’re usually back by now
Izu?
You better not be hurt.
Are you hurt?

He gulped, his heart hammering in his chest and tears springing to his eyes. He didn’t know Toshi would be so…so upset if he got hurt.
GreenBean:
I’m sorry I’m okay!
Nee-chan got hit by a Trigger bullet and her Quirk went out of control
She’s resting and Eraser is looking after us
I’m so sorry I didn’t tell you sooner!
LavenderDaydream:
Oh thank fuck!
Is she okay? You can’t go to the hospital, right?
And what do you mean Eraser?
GreenBean:
Yeah, I think she’ll be okay after she wakes up
At least I really hope she'll be okay
Eraserhead, he was with us during the gang takedown
LavenderDaydream:
Ajshdheierd
You know Eraserhead?!
You never told me!
Wait, isn’t he supposed to arrest you?
Are you being detained?!
GreenBean:
No! Eraser is gruff but nice
He helps us out and hasn’t tried to turn us in for a while now
He brought us back to his place so he could make sure she was okay
Thank you for being worried about me Toshi
You’re my only friend I have outside my family
LavenderDaydream:
Just don’t do that again!
Gave me a fucking heart attack!
I’d miss you
“Ooh, who are you texting? Girlfriend?” the teasing tone had his head snapping up to see Mic grinning at him and Eraser having an eyebrow raised. His face flamed as he shook his hands, waving them in front of him.
“He’s just a friend! He was worried!” he squeaked out.
“ So your boyfriend knows you’re a vigilante?” Mic tutted, shaking his head, “You shouldn’t worry your love like that, kiddo.”
If his face got any hotter, there’d be steam coming out his ears. “H-He’s not m-my b-boyfriend…” he whined, wrapping his arms around his head in embarrassment.
“Oh, looks like you have to give someone the shovel talk, Sho.” Mic snickered , hiding his grin behind his coffee mug.
“ Only if you give Null the sex talk.” The gruff reply caused the blonde to snort coffee through his nose as he cackled, slapping his knee while Izuku sank down, trying to become one with the floor . It was going to be a long day.

Era: Dawn of the New Gods
Concise Synopsis: This is a post-apocalyptic story about the origins of various powerful figures that appeared after the apocalypse event. During the apocalypse monsters appeared possessing powers and constitution beyond the limits of human understanding. They ravaged the world and brought down all governments. The first part of the story follows Jade, a terrorist that was ravaging the world before the monsters arrived. Dramatic Synopsis: The New Gods, the most feared and revered beings on the planet. They are forces capable of absolute destruction and creation. The Council of Branches Hayley, the Living Lie (if that is her real name) Chao Feng, the Prince of Stars Lara, the Mother of Heroes The Great City of Tver Gog, the Ever Losing War The Unkillable Freak Dave, the Flow Demon Avatari, (only the name is known) Satoshi, the Gentle Hurricane As Impactful as they are no one knew their origin, they are called the New Gods so there must be Old Gods. I and my collegues dedicated our lives to finding their origins only to find out that the beings we fear and adore were once like us, average, mortal and weak... at least most of them were. *It is a sort of reverse RPG as no one knows anything either skills, abilities or how the system works but they find out on their own or develop their own skills or abilites. *The story has many protagonists and point of views but it paints a beatiful story of survival in a world of endless perils for both the humans and the monsters(some monsters are protagonists). *There is a system but it is very limited (not overpowered) and treats everyone equally, monster or human. The system is very different from regular systems; no exp, levels and system items. *The story is a world building story where overall, the world is the true main character. The cover image photo is credited to Angel David *For now it's one chapter a day
