《Daemon Born》Chapter 1 | Part 7

I didn’t answer the man, or better said, I didn’t know what to say;
‘Oh nothing, I just thought we could laugh it over some drink over at the local pub so you can completely ignore the fact that I am a spawn from hell that potentially has enough power to completely wipe this city under the right circumstances.’
Didn’t really sound like a very wise thing to say. But don’t take this the wrong way. I don’t think this guy, regardless of how strong that he thinks he is, but there is no chance of him being able to defeat me, gear or no gear.
I just have to think of a way to diffuse this situation without killing him, or seriously maiming him to the point of him dying. I will admit now that is easier said than done.
I could feel his pressure on me was firm, but there was something else. He wasn’t putting enough force or weight to hurt me, which was saying something. If he was really serious about killing me, he would have made it painfully clear by now, but he wasn’t.
He was being gentle with me.
I stared up and looked at him. He had a much softer expression than when he originally pinned me down, and he wasn’t putting much force into his actions either. Something changed just now and I couldn’t figure out what it was.
He must have noticed the way I was staring at him. He turned away and sneered, I thought I could see him blushing for a moment. He said in an aggressive tone as he looked at me again.
“Do you think this is a game?! You’re in some serious trouble right now, you know that? Unless you explain yourself, I really might have to kill you.”
There was a slight seriousness to those words, and I guess either way, I’m going to have to take him down. And just as I thought about that, I kicked my legs up aiming for his gut. He staggered in pain as he lost his handle and fell off of me, gasping for air. He held is abdominal area in pain.
I jumped back behind him a few feet away and took a stance. I started thinking of a plan to be able to down this guy.
“Why you!” He got up and swung his leg around to hit me, I managed to block it just in time with my left arm. He is strong, I will give him that. I got pushed just a little bit to the right with that blow. As I was about to counter it he had already flipped around and was facing me, he took another strike by doing a full roundhouse kick with his right leg, striking the opposite side of where he originally struck me.

“Argh! I felt that one...”
I said in a low muttered voice, as I backed up a few steps. He isn’t holding back anymore, I can tell he is fighting me at close to full power now. That might be bad if he tried taking me down when I’m not prepared.
I took another stance, this time I started charging up power to my body to bolster my defence and also my offence. This is going to get serious really soon, he was getting serious as well. His presence was on full attack right now and he didn’t have any plans of letting me leave.
I could tell now he isn’t just some ordinary guard, he might be a captain or a specialist. Either way, it isn’t going to go well for me. But I do have all the things I need to move on to the next capital. I could just leave right now, wait- no, I can’t leave yet, this inn has my records, he’ll find out who I am. Looks like I have no choice but to take him down and wipe my records.
“Give it up kid, you can’t take me out. Just come quietly and maybe I’ll find a way to lighten your punishment a bit.” He said with cocky smirk, cliché.
“No thanks, I prefer freedom.” I said as I dashed forward and struck him in the face with my right fist. I immediately took another shot as I brought up my left foot as it made contact with his arm when he blocked it.
As I was fighting him, I was surprised at how well he took my attacks, especially when I got that clean hit to his face. That was a full powered blast attack in the form of a fist. There was no way he would have known how to block it, the only way he would have known how, is if he was a-
I couldn’t finish that thought as I took a fist to the nose. I countered it by raising his fist up and pulling it over my shoulder in plan to flip him over. As I did so he countered my counter-attack by pulling my left foot backwards, toppling me forward. I thought that was a little dumb though, as he fell with me because I still had a firm grip on his arm.

We both fell over, but I hit the floor, with my face. I lost my grip on his arm during the impact of my face with the marble ground occurred. As I laid there on my belly, trying to get up as I regain my composure. But as I did so, I could feel the larger man on top of me now, in the same position as me more or less.
From that hard knock on the back of my head just a second ago, it felt like he accidentally struck his chin on the back of my head. Albeit it hurt a lot more for him, than it did for me.
I couldn’t really move from this position at all in this point of time. Not unless this lug could get off me, again. I tried to prop myself up from the ground, but this guy was really, really heavy.
As I tried to recover from the fall, he pinned me down again, this time he held down both of my arms with his hands. He leaned in awfully close this time and said right by my ear.
“I told you already, you can’t beat me that easily.” I could feel that warm breath on the back of my neck. I blushed a little bit as he did that, and this was getting really awkward really fast. I could feel my face starting to heat up because of this idiot.
“What’s wrong? Lost yer’ fight already?” He said with a very lewd sounding tone.
Oh lord, and I that pirate-esque accent, this is not the way I wanted this to go, I really don’t want to do anything I wouldn’t do right now. Dammit, I’ll have to end this quick. I focused the aura into my hands.
I am it upward and uttered out some words.
“Lumen Mentim!”
And as I said that, a large flash of light was emitted from my hands and a wave of energy was blasted out like a shockwave. I sent the guy flying off into the edge of the room. A loud thud was heard as he hit the concrete-wooden wall. Right then I heard a beep of some sort, like a small device going off, I couldn’t really tell what it was right now, but I had to focus at the task at hand.
I went over to him raised my hand again. “Animus Disrupto.”
“What? What are you doing-” He said as he dropped unconscious, that should be enough to keep him out long enough for me to disappear. I went downstairs and went over to the lady running the service desk.
It looks like I’m going to have to use that charm again.
A few hours after I left the inn and wiped everything related to me from the records and from my room. Someone woke up in my room, and they remembered everything.
“Argh, that was really disorienting, but at least it worked.” He pulled out a blue talisman that was obviously broken now, as he got up and rubbed his head. These anti-magic lifeline charms really do work, pricey or not, it’s worth it I guess.
He looked at the massive crack dead in the centre of the talisman. He made a disappointed face and looked a little down. Letting out a annoyed sigh and closing his eyes, he took his index finger and thumb and held the bridge of his nose, rubbing it.
“But by the looks of it, I’ll be needin’ a new one. But it isn’t all bad I guess.” He pulled up his wrist and waved his hand over a small black, bracer like object. A small cube popped up and he tapped it.
Then out of the cube came a picture of my face and a profile and resume, as well as a short biography. He grinned and enlarged the image that was on his Syndex. He laughed and said very grimly.
“It looks like we’ll be meeting again real soon, demon boy.”
He stood by the window and looked outside at the early morning sunrise, as he tossed that digital data cube around in his hand, anticipation already seeping into his head at the thought of finding me again.
I guess now I have one more problem to worry about don’t I?
