《The story of Willenstark Kraft》Willenstark Kraft- Prologue (Edited)

It was December 20, 2002, Blenheim, the town was small with a population who mostly didn't know how to use magic, of barely over 5,000. Shawn Kraft, the owner of the local café. He was 5 foot-eight, he had brown shaggy unkempt hair that grew to be slightly above his glasses and hid his average face. He appeared to be middle-aged. He was walking home from a long evening of work. His wife made him drive less to be economically friendly. He was beside a long line of traffic, for this town. He was worried that he would be late, so he checked his watch. Then he heard a loud shriek, it sounded like someone was on the verge of death. Then it smelled as if there was a pile of corpses that were marinated in rotten eggs and onions only to be tossed out into the hot summer heat. Shawn ran towards the alley where the noise was made and found a pile of bags sticking out of the alley onto the sidewalk. He was curious. The pile looked to contain at least ten to fifteen garbage bags. What was under them? But he was too afraid to get near them. He was trying to think of what was under the pile of bags.
He thought it could be a pile of bags that a butcher's shop decided to save money on disposal and just tossed out halfheartedly into the alley. It may be some bags of garbage that was tossed at random, maybe. "The garbage trucks will clean it up today," Shawn told himself as he finally went home.
Even in a world of magic, there are still those who draw the short sticks. He finished the rest of his walk without issues. He finally arrived home. He lived in his family home with his wife. It is a small 2 story house, that was at least below half the size of the other houses around it. It was built by his grandfather on the land that his great grandfather farmed.
He made it to his house's front door without issues, as he went to unlock the front door as he did so he felt a chill. He checked his watch it was 4:15.
Shawn started groaning "I am 45 minutes late, Melany is going to kill me."
As soon as he said this a woman around 4 and a half foot tall with blonde hair, her age was unable to be identified by a glance, came around to the front door while holding an aluminum bat.

"So, who is it ?" Melany asked as she gave him a look that would always send his adrenaline rushing.
"No one but me," replied Shawn hastily, especially when he saw the bat, she already made one example of hit first, ask questions later.
"It had to of been someone or else you would have been home 45 minutes earlier," Melany replied coldly.
"Dear please calm down?"Shawn begged because he knew it would be a long night.
" Not until you tell me who. Was it the baker at the mall?" Melany asked while moving to the doormat to put on her shoes, while still holding the bat.
"No, there was a weird pile of bags that had the sidewalk blocked," Shawn replied hastily, not wanting to see anyone in the hospital or a jail cell.
" Why didn't anyone move it?" Melany replied curiously, wanting to see how well he could spin this lie.
" It was too hard to get near without vomiting. " Shawn replied thinking he was out of the fire.
" Chicken " Melany replied coldly, couldn't he make a better excuse she thought.
"Dear," Shawn said while trying to calm her down. Can this get any worse Shawn thought as he prepared the stool he was sitting on to become a shield?
"Liar," Melany said flatly, she was finally about to start swinging and Shawn would be first, then the baker after she got there.
"Well if you don't, believe me, we can just go there," Shawn said as he lowered the stool he was about to use as a shield.
They arrived at the heap of bags about 30 minutes later, after a long quiet car ride.
"See, there it is," Shawn said while pointing about 25 foot ahead at the pile. They exited the car and approached the pile.
"well let's see what it is." Melany replied as she chanted "Cywasgu symudiad aer", as the air moved to create a shield of air to block the smell. She uttered another chant "llafn aer" to rip open the bags to see what was in them. When she saw what was under them she screamed as loud as she could.
"What is it?" Shawn asked as he ran towards her, nearly vomiting. The first thing he saw stopped him in his tracks. When he took a double take, he dropped to the ground vomiting. Even though he was used to be a scholar and has heard of many traumatizing things, they could not prepare him for the real thing.

It was the corpse of a homeless woman dressed in rags that were starting to decay. That would be bad but not nearly as bad as what was in its stomach. It was an infant about 8 months old feeding on the corpse's intestines. The infant was small, with black hair, and the most chilling thing was not that the infant already had a head full of teeth, but his eyes were pitch black and his pupils were solid silver.
"we have to help it," Melany said almost too barely to hear. She could barely move and was too shocked to even express her revulsion as Shawn had.
"I know." Replied Shawn was slightly louder than Melany as he slowly stood up and pulled out his phone. Shawn called the police station.
" What is your emergency?" asked the operator flatly, he was tired and preferred quiet work.
"There is a dead person here," Shawn replied barely in a whisper. He was shell shocked still after turning away.
"Sir, I need to ask you to repeat that." replied the operator hastily not wanting Shawn to disconnect. And was starting to hope he was receiving a prank call.
"There are a dead body and infant inside a pile of garbage bags about 2 blocks from the Kraft café," Shawn said this slightly louder.
"We'll send an officer right away." The operator said as he regretted choosing to work in this town, he always wanted to work in a quiet little town away from violence.
The police officer arrived 15 minutes later. He drove his cruiser next to the sidewalk. He stepped out of the cruiser, his uniform cuffs were red while the rest of it was black. He didn't carry any weapons, his uniform cuffs signified that he was adept with flame magic.
"Where is it?" he asked hoping somebody would stop him and tell him it was a prank call or false report.
Shawn ran to greet him and led him to the corpse and infant. The officer called into the station and a cleanup team came to retrieve the corpse and the infant. "So what next?" Shawn asked barely aware he was talking.
" Next, you two come with me to answer some questions." replied the officer as he went to confirm some things with the cleanup team.
" What is going to happen?" Melany asked silently to Shawn while still overcoming her shock.
" We go do what we can do," Shawn replied seriously. The officer returned and put Shawn and Melany into the cruiser and took them into the station.
They arrived at the station about 15 minutes later. "What will happen to the kid?" Shawn asked quietly while trying his best to cooperate with the office.
" If there are no living relative then he will be sent to an orphanage." The officer said flatly, still shocked from the ghastly scene, he was a recruit fresh from the academy, he barely passed and was sent to this small town. They arrived at the police station and were directed to the main office where they filled out information forms such as their identity, how they discover the corpse and why they were there. They then proceeded to wait as the kid was sent to the local clinic to be checked of its health and identity, a process that lasted about 10 minutes.
The head of the local police station Chief Kovie, read the report while the Krafts waited. " The Boy was unable to be matched to a record, and the mother has no living family."
"What will happen to him? " Shawn asked quickly. "
He will be sent to the orphanage in another town." Kovie replied flatly still shocked from the report.
" We will adopt him," said Melany, it was the first that she talked since she got into the cruiser. Kovie and Shawn both looked at Melany.
After thinking for a while Kovie asked: "Are you sure?"
"Yes, we are." this time Shawn spoke.
"What will you name him?" Kovie asked while gathering the necessary forms.
"Willenstark, Willenstark Kraft" Shawn and Melany replied after thinking it over.

Moonshot
Gregarious businessman Evin Tumble is fascinated by the sudden and inexplicable appearance of a low-orbiting moon. Specifically, he's interested in shooting it down with a giant cannon. The moon is only about eight miles overhead, but it's high enough and quick enough that nobody can reach it by balloon or airship. He hires our protagonists: taciturn Iseult Morrin, cheerful Sean Whelan, and nervous Íde Ceallaigh, to help him with his obsession. As our heroes are dispersed across the continent to perform tasks for Tumble, and the moon-hunt draws closer, they become increasingly suspicious of their benefactor's motives and true nature. Moonshot is a story centred around struggling with confidence, the difficulty of being an immigrant, and the duality of truth, all clad in the trappings of an urban fantasy. It is character-driven, from the heart, and based on tropes and ideas that are missing from a lot of contemporary fantasy (a push beyond the flawless-yet-somehow-still-needs-rescuing-by-an-oafish-man heroine trope, a touch of cosmic magic based on the shared geometries of Celtic and Arab art).
