《The Billionaire's Proposal》Here Comes The Bride (Part II)

I walk down the stairs, my beige open toe pumps making a clicking sound as they collided with the tile floor. The beige silk gown flowed behind me and a few curled strands tickled my face. As I reach the final stair I look up to find Adrian. He had his gaze trained on the rectangular piece of paper in his hands, his jaw was clenched, and breathing unsteady.
"Adrian are you alright?" I question at the angry looking man in front of me.
"I am fine." He answers but I am sure he is not actually fine.
"You sure?" I try once more only to earn a harsh glare from him and a mean response.
"As I said I am fine!" He growled. "Now how about you worry about yourself and leave me alone."
I flinch at his answer and decide to drop the subject and leave him alone. He stuffed the paper into his blue blazer before walking towards the awaiting limousine. Without saying another word I follow him into the black car. Once David shuts the door, Adrian opens the cooler and pulls out a bottle of expensive whiskey. He pours the brown liquid into a glass and drinks the alcohol in one gulp.
"You sure you should be drinking before the wedding?" I ask.
Adrian turns to look at me with an annoyed look and replies, "I told you to worry about yourself, didn't I?"
"Why are you acting like an asswhole of a sudden?" Adrian rolls his eyes and simply pours himself another glass of whiskey. I sigh in defeat and look out the tinted window.
Oh god please help me!
***
The car came to a stop signaling we had finally arrived. The door opened to reveal a smiling David. I thanked him with a smile as he helped me out. A tipsy Adrian stepped out of the car. He unbuttoned his blue blazer before slipping it off and throwing it into the limousine. A frown was placed on his face as well as an angry look in his eyes.
"Jane, sweetie glad you guys could make it." Anna, Adrian's mom greeted. I walked over to her and gave her a hug.
"Jane!" Gabby exclaimed before rushing towards me. Her brown blonde colored tip locks were placed into neat curls that dropped down her shoulders. Her beige gown reached the ground, it had a sweetheart neckline, and diamonds decorating the chest part.
"Hey, Gabby." I reply as we hug. "You look amazing."
"You look great as well." She complimented and I gave her a smile.
"Mom may I speak to you in private?" Adrian asked and his mom nodded. They walked a couple feet away from us but I could still make out what they were saying.
"Why did you tell me to come knowing who was getting married?" Adrian angrily questions. I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion.
Who is getting married?
"Adrian, I did not know. Jeremy's parents invited me because we are friends." His mom explains. "I didn't know that the bride was Leila."
Leila? Where have I heard that name before?
"Do I actually think I believe that bullshit?" He asks while raising an eyebrow. "You're hot Jane but you're a good girl, definitely not my brother's type. Plus, I don't think he would actually be able to marry someone especially after what happened with ."

Leila, it's the girl Daniel was talking about the other day. Suddenly curiosity overcame me and I wondered who this Leila was.
"Well you're here," Angelica's voice interrupts my thoughts. "Guess god didn't hear my prayers."
I roll my eyes and reply, "Hello to you, too Angelica."
She returns the fake sweet smile that I gave to her before we both roll our eyes.
"Come on, can't you be nice to Jane for once." Gabby pleads and Angelica taps her chin as if she was thinking before answering, "Nope."
Gabby sighs in defeat and I place my hand in her shoulder before stating, "It's okay, we can't force people to be nice."
Angelica childishly sticks her tongue out at me causing a smile to tug on my lips.
"We should start taking our seats. The ceremony is about to start," Anna announces as she walk back towards us. "You're father is already there so let's get going girls."
Anna leads the twins towards their reserved seats. A hand is placed on my lower back and I look up to find Adrian.
"Let's get this stupid wedding over with." He states before leading us towards his family.
Everything looked so pretty and if I ever had a REAL wedding I wanted it to be just like this. A white wooden floor decorated the aisle, the floor ended in front of a white floral arch. Large glass vases filled with bouquets of white roses were lined up at the end of each row. The orchestra started playing signaling everyone to stand up. Here Comes the Bride was playing as a the blue-eyed blonde bride started walking down the aisle. Adrian's jaw clenched and his hands were curled up into fists causing his knuckles to whiten. I scrunched my eyebrows in confusion. Why is he so mad?
"Adrian are you alright?" I questioned.
"I'm fine." He answered. His gaze never leaving Leila.
After the priest welcomed us we all sat down. Many females were already balling their eyes out. I never understood why people cried at weddings, I guess I'll find out on the day of mine. Well my REAL wedding not the agreement one. If I cry on the day of my "contract" wedding it would only be because I'm going to be married to an arrogant asswhole.
***
Everyone stood up and clapped as the priest pronounced the couple as husband and wife—well everyone except for Adrian. He simply clapped once with a blank expression.
"Come on Jane we are leaving." Adrian announced.
"Why?" I ask confused as to why he wanted to leave so soon. "We still have the reception to attend."
"I said we are leaving." Adrian replied.
"Bullshit," Gabby stated. "You can't let the bitch ruin your night. You and Jane need to stay."
"Gabby." Adrian growled. Gabby just shrugged her shoulders and grabbed my arm before dragging me towards the large tent that was setup.
"Are you coming?" Gabby asked. We turned around to see what Adrian's answer was going to be.
He rolled his eyes and let out a sigh of defeat before walking after us. Gabby turned around with a smudged look which caused me to giggle. As soon as we entered the tent Adrian went straight to the bar. I rolled my eyes but kept the smile on my face. I'm not going to let Mr. Grumpy pants ruin my night. Mr. McKeller, Mrs. McKeller, and Angelica were already situated at one of the tables.

"Jane, you look stunning." Mr. McKeller complimented.
I gave him a smile and answered, "Thank you."
"I'm guessing Daniel is not going to come?" Angelica asks and Anna nods.
"Once he found out who was getting married he refused to accompanied us." Anna answered.
"If Adrian showed up he should have to." Gabby intervened.
"It is not that simple Gabby and you know it." Anna replied.
I was so confused as to what they were talking about and suddenly felt left out. A couple walked up to our table.
"Good afternoon Mr. McKeller, Mrs. McKeller." The male greeted as he shook each of their hands. He had bright blue eyes and light brown locks.
"Liam, it is a pleasure to see you." Mr. McKeller replied. "Elizabeth, you look absolutely beautiful."
"Thank you Mr. McKeller." The brown-eyed brown haired girl answered.
"Take a seat," Anna ushered. "How is the baby doing?"
"Great, healthy and growing up fast." Elizabeth answered as she rubbed her little bump smiling.
Before the conversation can proceed the DJ stops the music and picks up a microphone.
"May we please welcome the Mr. and Mrs. Harrison." Everyone cheered as the newly weds walked into the room.
Adrian showed up behind me with another glass of whiskey in hand. He took the seat next to mine and set the glass on the table.
"Liam it's nice to see you," He greeted as he and Liam shook hands.
"Nice to see you, too." Liam replied. "I hear you are getting married."
"Yeah," Adrian answered. He placed his arm around my shoulders. "Liam I would like for you to meet Jane, my fiancé. Jane this is Liam a good friend of mine."
"It is nice to meet you Liam." I greet as I shake hands with him.
"Nice to meet you, too." He stated with a genuine smile. "This is Elizabeth, my beautiful wife and mother of my baby."
"It's nice to meet you Jane." She smiled at me and I shook her hand.
"Nice to meet you, too." I reply.
***
"You sure you guys can't stay a little longer?" Gabby asks. Liam and Elizabeth had to leave because they left tomorrow to go back to New York.
"No, I wish we could but our flight leaves at six thirty in the morning," Elizabeth explains. "It was nice seeing you guys again and meeting you Jane."
"You, too." I respond as I stand up and give her a hug.
"Have a safe trip." Mr. McKeller stated as he hugged Elizabeth and shook Liam's hand.
"Bye Eli," Adrian gave Eli a hug and then gave Liam a manly hug. "Bye Liam, see you next time I-err we go to New York."
"Okay, bye." Liam said goodbye one last time before him and Eli left.
Adrian was already drunk. He swayed around every time he stood up or walked.
"We should leave, too." I suggest but Adrian shakes his head.
"You wanted to stay and so we're going to stay until the end." Adrian replies.
Normal Adrian was already bad enough but drunk Adrian was worst.
"Mr. McKeller, Mrs. McKeller I'm glad you guys were able to make it," Leila stated. Adrian tensed up and his face formed a scowl. "Oh hey, Adrian."
"Hello." He simply replies.
The girl smirks before asking, "What do guys think of MY wedding? Glitz Magazine is going to announce it as the wedding of the year."
"I wouldn't be to sure about that," Gabby retorts. "Adrian and Jane are also getting married and their wedding will totally top off this one."
"Is that so? Adrian I didn't know you were engaged." Leila turned her attention back on Adrian.
"Yeah," Adrian smirked. "I'm getting married to my lovely fiancé Jane."
Adrian envelops me into his arms as a frown threatens to form on Leila's face.
"Well I'm glad you were finally able to get over me," Leila responds with an evil grin. "Tell me has your brother forgiven you yet? Has he gotten over me, too?"
Confusion took over me as I scrunch my eyebrows. Adrian's knuckles were in fists and his jaw clenched as he glared at Leila.
"You're fucking sick! And I feel bad for Jeremy, he married a fucking whore!" The room went silent as everyone turned to look at us. Adrian got up from his seat and stumbled his way to the exit.
"It's okay everyone," Leila reassured with that evil smirk of hers. "Adrian's just a little tipsy that's all."
Everyone laughed at her "joke" and went back to what they were doing.
"You are a fucking bitch." Angelica stated as she gave Leila a murderous look.
"Now, now Angelica we wouldn't want to cause another scene like the one your brother just put now would we? It wouldn't be a good image for the McKeller family." Leila left with a smudged look and Gabby had to hold Angelica down so she wouldn't go attack Leila.
"I'm going to go check up on Adrian." Anna states but I intervene.
"It's okay, I'll go." I reply. She smiles gratefully before I walk out of the tent.
My eyes scan the beach, the only light was coming from the moon. I hear sobbing and led my ears lead me to a trembling Adrian. He had his head in his hands and his body was shaking. My heart broke as I stared at the vulnerable Adrian in front of me. It was then that I realized Adrian wasn't a monster nor a douchebag he was just another heartbroken human. He, too had his heart broken. Without thinking I walked over to him and decided to not say a word but instead wrap my arms around him. He didn't push me away nor did he tell me to leave, instead he laid his head on my chest and let me comfort him. I ran my hand over his brown locks. The only sound was the crashing of the waves against the shore.
"Come let's go home." I state as I stand up and help him up. I threw his arm over my shoulder and led the way seeing as if he was too drunk to walk by himself.
I took out my phone and called David informing him we were ready to leave. While we were waiting I turn around at the sound of someone talking. It was a woman talking through the phone. I wouldn't have made much off it but when the light hit her I felt my whole world spin around me.
"Mom?"

A Girl and Her Food
When a lost girl wakes up without a name, she quickly finds herself alone in a way that people around her can’t fix. Without a real plan and desperate to find what’s wrong with her, she thrashes and bites to stay alive. But human beings are weak things, that band together for strength, no matter who we are. Now if only she could work up the courage to ask one question... It’s normal to get stronger when you drink the blood of monsters. Right? Things to expect: - A powerful but kinda neurotic and emotional protagonist, with some degree of weak to strong. Or maybe strong to stronger, honestly. She's pretty rational and practical about things but won't always make the best decisions, so be warned if you super-dislike characters doing dumb stuff for emotional reasons sometimes. - Lots of dialogue and characterization, especially as we get more into it. It's focused on a single POV, but there might be some sections of other POVs later on, I'm not sure right now. - Magic is on the softer side, but I'll try to keep things fleshed out enough to avoid any obvious "well-established magic could have seemingly instantly solved this problem" moments. - I didn't add the mystery tag because I feel like it implies that this is a detective novel or something, but the story is absolutely incredibly opaque at times. So you'll have the most fun if you go into it trying to puzzle out the nature of events before they're explicitly explained!😇 - Also, I added the genre for completion, but it's gonna take a while to get to the romance. Please wait warmly and have some tea. Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge!
