Book 1: Chapter 6
“And Grandpa Bacacus! What did you use to slap me?! It really hurts!”
“You brat, that was my wind hand” Baccaus laughed, “I lost my temper for a bit, but that can only stand for how much I mean it. Now, would you like to hear a story? It may not be as exciting as those tales of heroes you often hear of but I can tell you that this will help you understand our continent better.”
“Yes! Please tell me Grandpa Baccaus!”
So Baccaus began the story:
“The continent we live on is called Nakrul. It is a large land mass that spans for 14 million miles from east to west and 13 million miles from north to south. Surrounding the edge of continent, as if in a warm embrace, are sharp, long, wide mountain ranges. Some call it a prison, for we can never reach the mythical sea because of it. Others call it a blessing because we never have to fear sea creatures or feel the wrath of the boundless water elementals.
Nakrul contains a lot of different species and races. To the west there are the dark races which includes: the dark ones, demons of all types, undeads, and many more. The dark races occupy ¼ of the land mass in Nakrul while the humans and their allies occupy ½ of the land mass. The other ¼ are either forbidden zones or belong to the neutral factions like the dragons, giants, and fairies.
Nakrul is a continent of magic! Magic can be used by every being born with an elemental body. Those who are not blessed and favored by the elements will forever remain a commoner. And yet, over the years those commoners have come up with a way to be outstanding in their own right. Thus came the art of training one’s body to the limit! This is very much similar to how the giants have enormous strength but very low magic capabilities. Or how almost all fairies have medium-grade elemental bodies but very low physical strength. The dragons on the other hand excel in both aspects, making them terrifying entities.

The various elements that can be utilized are fire, water, wind, earth, light and dark. There are also rare mutated element bodies that can use steel or wood or other such combinations. But above all these elements are the four saint elements. These are laws, rather than elements because they are Space, Time, Death, and Life.
Someone who is born with a saint body is a supreme existence! They are no longer called mages but referred to as saints!
Those who are born with the Life attribute are sought after by all species on the Nakrul continent. But a Life saint body is extremely rare so not many exist. Additionally, t is unknown how many saint bodies exist because all of them are hidden quite well and those saint who show themselves are either already terrifyingly strong or have a strong powerhouse protecting them.
Those with the Death attribute are prosecuted and constantly face the fear of death because they have the power to cause the death of millions with just a single low level spell. This is terrifying as even a high ranked mage can be killed by a rank 0 Death saint!
Those with the Space attribute are the most common of the saint bodies. But common is a relative term because I only know of one Space saint and that is the fifth and youngest of the five human king. There are sure to be other saints among other species but I have not seen records of any for a long time now.
Those with the Time attribute are rare to the point where none have appeared in the human race since the documentation of our history began in 950 BI (Before Invasion).
Now, aside from saints that are in their own category there are mages.
Magicians or Magus are ranked from 0-9; to rank up you must reach and break through level ten of your respective rank. I am a rank 7 level 10 mage, infinitely close to being a rank 8 mage but alas.

Physical type users, who are mostly warriors, have a different system of ranking. They are ranked from 1-9 and do not have levels. They also do not have clear indications of when they’ve broken through so to rank up they must defeat another physical type user of a higher ranking or defeat a mage one rank lower than them. So if a warrior of rank 3 defeats a rank 4 warrior then they would rank up to rank 4, too. Or if the rank 3 warrior defeats a rank 2 mage of any level then they would rank up to a rank 4 warrior.
This might be a little confusing at first, but mages who can harness the power of elements holds an upper hand against physical type users so a warrior of the same rank cannot usually win against a mage of the same rank.
For warriors to rank up they must go to a large city and ask the mercenary association to set up a fight for them. Otherwise, nothing can be authenticated nor recorded. Though there are really strong freaks who do not care to publicize their ranks and are simply tigers disguised in rabbit skins. But a good thing about having your ranking publicized is the ability to receive a monthly income from your respective kingdom. Others do it for the prestige so they can have access to different resources or have bestowed upon them titles of nobility.
Nakrul is also a continent filled with magical equipment. The dwarves are the best craftsmen and can create the finest equipments, and given the right materials they can create magical equipments with magical properties. Otherwise, ordinary equiptments can be imbued with rune carvings to give them magical properties too, but equipments that has innate properties are much better, more expensive, and very rare.
Humans now hold the highest population in Nakrul. Our reproductive rate is not only fast, but humans have high intelligence not found in other high reproducing species like goblins and orcs. This is also one of the reasons humans can be found almost everywhere on Nakrul.
Nakrul holds many secrets, has many astonishing species and heavenly materials. I hope that you can explore many of the places that have never been explore before and perhaps even see the mythical sea! I will continue telling about our continent later. For now, let’s eat then practice some magic!”
