Liam widened his eyes after a window appeared again.

"Ah, it came out immediately after. And... Intelligence? Like knowledge? Intellect? Is this some kind of mental power? If it's based on an RPG then it's gonna be somewhat connected to my mana, right?"

He asked but there was only an awkward silence since no one replied.

Uh...

'Is the system not able to answer questions given to it? It'll be good if it did but I have a feeling that it wouldn't, or at the very least, not yet.'

He scratched his chin when curiosity got up to him before stopping all of his movements as he suddenly realized something from the text he saw earlier.

"Project X? That was..."

Liam tried to recall something about the name "Project X" as it felt oddly familiar to him, but it was interrupted after hearing the chime from the system again.

"Huh– What's with this one? It didn't even tell the condition. How am I supposed to get this skill without knowing the required condition?" Liam said his thoughts out loud in frustration as he was unexpectedly given a mysterious skill.

He had thought that the system would give him an overpowered skill, if not the most needed skill for him, right off the bat, but he realized he was being a bit greedy after just receiving a golden finger.

But suddenly, out of nowhere, It felt like time had stopped for him as he remembered the day when his mother and father took him out in the park. He was still so happy back then.

And not even a second later, a memory of him crying for a long time at his Mother and Father's funeral overlapped with any other memories he was currently having.

Liam could recall that painful day just like watching a video in a slow-motion.

He remembered the time when he saw his father's body on the alley's floor lifeless and his mother's descending tears after being shot.

Liam had his eyes filled with tears after recalling that day, five years ago, but he held it and decided to endure it. He thought he already forget about it all, but he just didn't want to realize it himself that up until now all the sorrow, the anger, and the vengefulness he felt that day were only just being kept inside him as he tried hard to forget about it.

Liam closed his teary eyes as he bit his lips.

'...Today, just like last time, I vow to destroy the organization that made my life miserable. I will make sure to avenge my parents...'

Inwardly, he declared, that he would use every single bit of his strength and his skills to trample and crush those sons of bitches with a vengeful plan that he just needed came up within a flash.

The determination-filled student turned back to his usual self as he snapped back to reality and realized that he was still just living in the real world and not in a fantasy one.

He walked slowly towards the door. With a tense expression, he slowly twisted the doorknob with his left hand while the other hand was holding the knife pointed forward.

Liam, even in this situation, imagined himself as an assassin preparing to slice someone in the neck just like the one he sees in the movies.

The moment he opened the door, his right hand was now moving forward at an incredible speed, whether it was due to the fear of who or what was coming to him or something else, he didn't care as long as he could get rid of the 'danger' right outside the door.

Halt.

His movement was smooth enough to accurately aim for his target's neck, but as soon as he saw the person's face that he was trying to stab, his hand came to an abrupt stop.

Liam instantly pulled the knife behind his back as if to hide it from someone.
