As time passed by and the groups formed, Luke was quickly isolated, like four other people. This will be his group. They assembled together as they had no other choices and shortly presented themselves.
A Lizardman like guy with a spear began bluntly. " Name's Lou. " Short and straight to the point, just what Luke liked.
A blue translucent blob that was probably a slime followed suit " Ozz. "
Next, what looked like a human woman with long ears, an elf with her stereotypical bow also told her name " Milfa. "
Then a six armed man who had six swords told his " Abacus "
Finally, Luke also told his name " Luke ".
Looking at him in an amusing way, Milfa reminded him of something he would have liked to forget " Hee, Luke right? Are you sick? I saw you throw up blood earlier. " With a black face, Luke just stayed silent for a while but seeing as they were all looking at him, even Ozz, probably, he answered " I'm alright, that's all you need to know " He paused and looked at her in the eyes as he said " You don't have to worry about me being a dead weight. "
Shrugging, Milfa lightly replied " Is that so? "
After these very short presentations, Lou, who spoke first once again led the conversation
" Let's cut the chitchat and just say our element and ability so that we can come up with a basic strategy. Mine is light, and my ability permits me to accelerate greatly. " He didn't specify anything like range, his speed or his strength. It's quite normal though. As they just met, trusting others with capital information would be the dumbest thing ever. Even more so with Luke around...

Ozz, with his very uniform look, said his, followed by Milfa and Abacus
" Poison, I eat. " " Electricity, I can shoot a railgun " " Also electricity, I can rain down lightning on people. "
At last, Luke also said his " Darkness, I also shoot a railgun. By the way, do any of you know all of the elements? "
Hearing his question, they all looked at Luke weirdly, which bothered him a little. Lou, who probably wanted to be the leader answered him " You are probably new to the universal war... " He shook his head and looked at Luke with a bit of... sympathy? " There are twelve elements and they are categorized into grades, based on their rarity and power. They are space, time and gravity which are high grade; light, darkness, electricity, and poison which are mid-grade; and water, wind, fire, earth and ice which are low grade. "
Finishing his speech which seemed to really tire him out, Lou let Luke the time to digest the information.
' I see, so my elements really are good huh. But he didn't say anything about anyone having two elements. Is it because people are supposed to have only one? Better not ask red flag questions and keep my curiosity and doubts to me. But this really the nurturing place of the top, we all have mid-grade element and powerful abilities. '
With that, time was up and the fights will begin shortly
* The group battles will now begin. You will fight the nearest team to you. The group battles and one Vs one matches won't allow death. You will be revived after you die. Good luck soldier Luke. *
Luke's team directly looked at the nearest team to them. It was a team composed of five snakemen, 200 meters away. They all had humanoid top and snakish bottom. They looked quite intimidating. Even though they were looking at each other, they still remarked that the area had been cleared. They were displaced in the distance from the other fight, but without anyone noticing.

Lou, who assumed the great burden of leadership quickly set the formation. " Luke and Milfa, with your abilities, you will stay at the back and shoot them. Ozz will be in the forefront with me and Abacus will be in the middle, sneak attacking them. " With no questions asked as this was not the time, they all followed his instructions.
The five snakemen also got into formation with three in front and two in the back. Then, what followed was both teams staring at each other with no one initiating the battle. They weren't searching for flaws, they just were hesitant as they all knew that anyone having the qualifications to be here should be at the same level as them give or take.
Lou decided to begin as he instructed Milfa to shoot. It's not that he didn't have confidence in Luke... well he didn't but the biggest reason is that as an opener, a lightning ability is better than a dark one as it's faster.
Taking a very short time to charge it, she shot her railgun at the weakest looking snakeman.
Shockingly, the snake-man didn't even try to evade but took the attack directly. The lighting didn't do anything to him and as he just shot it back towards Abacus. Even though he didn't expect this, Abacus still married with his swords for the piercing power of the attack and countered the lightning with his own, which descended from the sky.
The blow still did heavy damage to him though since, as tier 2 existences, they didn't have the immunity of their elements. At most, they had a slight resistance. Lou's face became ugly, the fight just began and they were on the losing end. Not only was one member heavily injured, they revealed two abilities while the enemies only revealed one, which they couldn't know the specifics of, other than the fact that it can deflect lightning.
His initial strategy was thus a complete failure, not because it was bad per se, but because of luck.
The enemies wouldn't let such an opportunity go and attacked. The two at the back used their abilities, or maybe their skills. Things looked dire from the very beginning and although they were all tensed, the only one who wasn't was Luke.

City of Champions Online
Having found the tragic truth that an art degree is worth less than the paper it is printed on, Jacquelyn Jones is frustrated with her dead end work as a graphic designer for a marketing firm, finding new ways to try and convince people that this week's 50 cent off sale is actually worth driving to the store. She's tried other VRMMORPGs, but they've all been fantasy-based, with a couple sci-fi games thrown in. But she wants something more, something Super. Superhero VRMMOs have had a... subpar reception in the past, in part due to the fact that the nature of most MMOs makes for fairly unheroic tales. After the couple hundredth time blasting the same group of mooks from the same faction on the same street corner of the same city, using the same powerset as everyone else because you only have a few options, it is hard to think of yourself as a hero anymore. But then she heard about City of Champions Online. For the first time, a developer partnered with a tabletop RPG maker to use their system to create a VRMMORPG, and it was one of the systems designed to be used with superhero games! And despite the name, there was no getting stuck in the same city as all the other players. The game world was a detailed replica of the real world, down to having some of the same shops and restaurants in town. She could be whoever she wanted, whatever she wanted. Now, she just has to find a way to become the heroine she's always wanted to be.

Starchild
“It’s life’s illusions I recall. I really don’t know life at all.” from the song, Both Sides Now, by Joni Mitchell Starchild is an adventure novel set within an understanding of reality that is rooted in Eastern spiritual traditions. It takes as its starting point experiments in remote viewing that were genuinely undertaken by the American military in the nineteen-nineties under the name of the Stargate Project. It then imagines how a more advanced attempt to weaponise the capabilities of consciousness might have been developed in the present day.The story then explores how Ultimate Reality might respond to such a threat.Deep, elemental forces thus bring together Samantha Martin and Sahadeva Varma, old colleagues from the Stargate Project, to avert the apocalyptic consequences of this military attempt to weaponise consciousness. This fast-paced story spans genres including romance, action, adventure, science fiction and more. Although this story is based on concepts drawn from established spiritual traditions, these have sometimes been extrapolated to the point of very extreme speculation for the needs of an adventure story.Much of the underlying philosophy, however, as explained in the dharma talks given by Samantha Martin, is paraphrased from the guidance of respected spiritual teachers. Scheduling: Starchild is a previously unpublished novel of one hundred thousand words which was serialised in weekly instalments over twenty-five weeks from 15th November 2021 to the 29th April 2022. Each instalment contains five chapters – an average of approximately four thousand words in each instalment. The Eternal Vigil
The year is 2220, a time when governments and nation-states are slowly becoming a thing of the past. Instead, all prominent parts of human society are now organizing around the commands of three great Artificial Intelligences, owned and operated by the world's largest corporation. World peace has been achieved, and the very word 'politics' has disappeared from people's lips. Religion has largely disappeared, replaced in some parts by worshipping of the great AIs, but mostly substituted by a devotion to material goods and faith in the market. There is now a general consensus that the best form of government has been found. No, it is not democracy, nor is it autocracy or oligarchy. Instead, it is technocracy - rule by the learned, the intelligent, and the skilled. And who are more learned, intelligent, and skilled than the great AIs? Exactly, no one. The AIs will correct some market failures once in a while, but shall otherwise let the market be free. After all, the freer the market, the freer the people. Some may question how society advanced to this stage, but that is all they will do - question. Because they will not find answers, for history is no longer taught anywhere. After all, it is not a practical subject. One cannot get a decently paying job with a history degree. Society doesn't have any time for people to idly ponder about the past. No, this is a practical society of practical people: engineers, doctors, lawyers, developers, managers, bankers, soldiers, and the such. My name is Aiden Scivit and I used to be one such practical man: minding my own business, doing my job, with the faith that hard work will always be rewarded by the market...and that politics and philosophy were things thought of by idly people who leech off society. But this all changed, and here is my story, my history. Just because the stories of ages long past have been erased, does not mean that a brand new beginning cannot be created. The story is already finished but I still need to do some editing so a chapter should be released each day for a month. It is a bit political, as you can probably tell by the introduction, so there is that (it will low-key read like a philosophy dump 10% of the time, so really it's like Atlas Shrugged but liberal and worse lol). Also, I actually wrote this in grade 10 as part of my MYP Personal Project, and recently touched up on it for online publication. Finally, if you find the writing style passable and are interested in my other works, check out the one in the link below. It is a fantasy set in the Ancient Greek world, and is completed and uploaded in full: https://www.royalroad.com/fiction/35099/the-oresteia-modernized
