《World Jumper》Chapter 29

After going through five more tents, Jet managed to take out three more people. He had also acquired more items along the way. Now he was entering a larger tent, which looked to be full of food. Then an evil grin formed on his face. Jet had obtained some questionable vials from the tent with torture tools.
'Alex, I'm going to be in here a while.' Jet announced.
'Yeah, figured after the thought you just had.' Alex's smirk could be heard in her voice.
Jet got to work dumping random vials on the food. Making sure the ones with the worst smells got mixed in with powerful tasting food. Sure he wasn't sure if poisoning the food would work, but it was worth a try. There was also the other problem. He wasn't sure what he had just mixed with the food.
'How's things looking out there?' Jet had spent a little too much time poisoning the food.
'Not sure some people have returned and heading into some of the tents we have already passed.' Alex said.
Jet was glad he had decided not to touch anything in those tents. He then pondered whether they should leave. Then he decided against leaving. He didn't know if they would get another chance. 'Alex, we're trying something new.'
'We had a plan already? Thought we were just winging it.' Alex said in an exaggerated voice.
'We need to speed things along. So I will walk out, and you guide me towards one of the other larger tents.' Jet didn't want to waste any more time. They needed to find the tracking spell.
'Ok, wait five seconds, then go out and right.' Alex observed as she guided Jet. There were only two other larger tents. She admired how well he kept his nerves from showing. Considering she could feel the fear he is hiding. Yet, he still took every step with confidence.
Jet reached the next tent without any problems. Going in, he also found nobody within the tent, not just any tent he decided. It looked to have documents lying around and a map on a table in the center. 'Now, this looks like what I'm looking for.'
'Well, hurry up. More people are returning. So not sure how much longer we can stay.' Alex's voice was laced with worry.
Taking immediate action, Jet started throwing stuff in the two bags of holding he found. It didn't matter what. He just started with the scrolls first. After the scrolls, Jet stole their map. He had noticed circles with dates on them. Now, if he could just find how they were tracking Rachael. The bags weren't going to be big enough to take everything. 'Alex, any idea what I would be looking for?' Jet asked and sent over images of everything in the tent.
'I've been out of the loop for over sixteen years. But, no, nothing in there comes to mind. So start breaking things carefully, or we may need to look at the last tent.' Alex said with frustration in her voice.
'Relax, we came knowing the plan might fail.' Jet started breaking things quietly. He hurried through everything he could find. Then started heading out of the tent, then crossed the path to the next tent.

Jet cringed when he walked into the tent. There, right in front of him, was a girl chained to a post. She looked up to him, and Jet was getting ready to run out of the camp. However, the girl just coward in fear, putting her hands over her face. He looked past her finding a large bed with a man sleeping. Then looked at a picture above the bed. It was of a man with long black hair and bright green eyes. Jet figured the man was in love with himself since the man was looking at himself, in a mirror, in the picture.
So the problem was the chained-up girl, that was now looking at him with suspicious eyes. Jet put his finger to his mouth, making a shushing motion. Then he pulled out his dagger, pointing at it, then the man sleeping. To Jet's surprise, she quietly waved her hands and mouthed run. 'This is getting weird.'
'Maybe you should leave. Jet, I can smell blood in the air.' Alex warned him.
'Wait, you can smell?' Jet had no idea Alex had any senses.
Alex just sighed. 'This isn't the time.'
'Right,' Jet walked up to the girl and looked at her chains.
She leaned in and whispered to Jet. "I know you are with the princess. You need to leave this man is very dangerous."
Jet patted her shoulder and walked over to the bed. He readied the knife and noticed the girl trying quietly to get his attention. She was still mouthing stop. 'I don't have time for this.' He thought and stabbed through the man's neck. The man's eyes shot open. However, he hadn't reached for his neck. He grabbed Jet's and started choking him.
The man pulled Jet onto the bed and rolled over on top of him. Blood started dripping on Jet's face and chest, but that wasn't what concerned Jet. The man's neck began to heal visibly. 'Oh, shit, this isn't good.' His thoughts were starting to spin from the lack of air.
"Die, you little shit." The man croaked out.
'Jet, I'm headed your way.' Then a thought struck Alex. She released the magic body she was currently using and made a new version in the tent. Then Alex bit the man, gouging out one of his eyes.
The man grabbed Alex and broke her magic body. "You attacked the wrong man." He said a bit clearer now.
'Jet, if his throat regenerates, he may call for help.' Alex warned Jet.
Jet, now free, grabbed his dagger and sliced the man's throat again. The man just looked at him, with an expression saying Jet would die. He punched Jet in the chest. It took all Jet had not to shout, which was hard since his breath was knocked out of him. Jet then rammed his dagger into the man's side, hitting a lung.
'It's no good, Alex. We're going to get caught.' Jet had been thrown from the bed and was about to slam into a shelf. So Jet forced out a lot of magic, creating a strong wind in the camp and the surrounding forest. Jet slammed into the shelf almost hard enough to go through the tent.

Alex reappeared, jumping right at the man again, who had managed to get off the bed and start walking to them. Jet quickly got to his feet in time to watch the man kill Alex again. Pulling out the sword he had acquired, Jet readied for a fight. Then to Jet's surprise, a dagger pierced through the man’s chest. The chained-up girl had picked it up while they were distracted. The man turned, grabbed her by the throat, and picked her up. Jet didn't even hesitate as he cut the man's head off.
"Regenerate that, you bastard." Just in case, Jet kicked the man's head to the other side of the tent. He then helped the girl out of the chains once she pointed where the key was.
She hugged Jet tight. "Thank you so much."
"No problem." Jet patted her back.
Alex reappeared and ran out the door. 'Yeah, I can't fly in this wind. However, I don't see anyone.'
Jet looked the girl in the eyes. "Do you know how they're tracking the Princess?" He flat-out asked.
She looked down at the headless corpse. "This man tracks people using magic." She confirmed.
"Ok then, time to go." Jet said.
'What's the plan?' Alex asked frantically.
'How much time we got?' He asked.
'Not long, I can see people waking up from this wind.' Alex comes back into the tent.
Jet saw the girl just looking at him. It probably looked like he had zoned out while talking to Alex. While he had been talking to Alex, the girl had changed her clothes. To something a bit warmer.
"How much longer can you keep this wind-up?" She asked Jet.
Jet started rubbing his chin. "Maybe two more hours. Why?" The girl looked dumbfounded. "Why anyways?" Jet asked back.
Alex walked up and jumped on his shoulder. "Sorry, Jet doesn't realize how much magic he has." Now she was looking wide-eyed at Alex.
Jet needed to get things moving, so he put out his hand. "Hi, my name is Sir Jet, Knight of Hope."
Now her jaw had dropped, and she bowed to him sincerely. "Thank you, Sir Jet, for saving me."
He decided to ignore her and looked at Alex. "We need to make a distraction and leave."
"Agreed, the only reason I think they haven't come in this tent." Alex looked over to the dead body. "They must be scared of him."
"My name is Filial." Filial finally stopped bowing.
"Nice to me." Jet froze mid-sentence feeling a jolt of magic go through him. The stick he had given Rachael had been broken.
"Jet." Alex started.
"Alex, you rush back. I will handle things here." Jet had an idea for a spell, but he had never tested the spell.
"Filial, stand back. I'm about to create a distraction." Jet reached out with a hand, and a small glowing orb started to form slowly. He was pouring a ton of magic into the orb. It mainly was fire magic with wind and water as the shell to hold it together. Jet figured ten percent of his magic would do for now.
"What is that," Filial asked in wonder.
"Something hazardous." Jet said as he grabbed Filial and run out of the tent. As he ran out of the tent, he picked up the wind's speed to keep everyone distracted. As they got out of the camp, something hit Jet, throwing him forward. He quickly turned around and froze. Filial lay on the ground, with an arrow, struck through her chest.
There were two people headed towards them, and one was getting ready to shoot another arrow. Not only that, Jet could feel the ball of magic about to explode. He put up a wall of earth and lowered him and Filial into the ground. Jet then covered Filial before the explosion.
The ground shook when the explosion hit. Jet didn't bother to look up and kept covering Filial. When the ground stopped shaking, he looked at her. "You fool, what were you thinking?"
Filial started coughing up blood, some splashing on Jet's face. She reached up with a shaking hand, cupping Jet's cheek. "Protect our princess."
Jet watched as her arm fell limp to her side. He didn't know what to do. Why did people always seem to die around him? He laid Filial on the ground and closed her eyes. The ground shook as he raised it back to level. The forest had caught on fire, and people could be seen groaning on the ground. Ash started to fall from the sky like black snow. Looking back at the camp, Jet noticed everything had been blown apart, with a small crater where the blast originated.
Jet turned to see a man charging at him. With just a thought, the ground opened up, and the man started to fall. Before he hit the ground, dozens of spikes shot from the wall skewering the man. Screams could be heard from the man until the dirt fell in on itself. Then there was nothing but flat ground.
Another man shot an arrow at Jet's head, however before it hit, Jet cocked his head. The arrow hit a tree behind him, blowing it apart. When the man got a look at Jet's eyes, he took a step back. Jet's blue eyes were glowing, and his hair almost looked as if it had caught fire. But the most ominous thing about him was the dark blade that appeared out of nowhere. The designs on the sword were glowing a bright red, and if you were close enough. You could hear a slight hum coming from the blade. Then the man looked closer at the sword. He could just make out the words World Breaker glowing on the side of the blade.

The Choice is Not Yours
Author's Note: (As of November 20, 2021) I rewrote all the chapters perhaps more than a year ago, but haven't announced that I did so. Because that kind of announcement would include something along the lines of, "I'm working on the story so expect new chapters!" But the truth is, I lack motivation to do anything. And I would hate myself if I broke a promise. I'm extremely sorry if you have been patiently waiting for uploads. These days, I've been studying, not well, but studying somewhat. I will definitely bring more to show, with regular uploads. If not this story then there's another story I've been writing that's really exciting to me. It's not exactly similar to this story since it has a male lead and he is a baneful asshole with even less morals. I hope you'll like it when it comes to existence. And I'll leave my announcement off with the aforementioned promise. Meet Amber, a tomboyish, unstable, and cheeky lass who likes to keep to herself. According to her, she'll live the rest of her life on auto-pilot mode, awhile holding onto the few things that make her remotely happy. However, she forgot that people never really leave you alone, be it humans or even the Gods. And exactly that happens, ending her monotonous life on such the Gods' whim. But at what cost to her? Will she be able to hold onto the things she holds dear? Or will she fail miserably and lose herself in the process? That's what the Gods want to know. Disclaimer: I do not own the cover photo.Warning: If you are easily triggered, I am not writing this novel for you.
