《Ninth World Lia's Struggle》ch 36

It took a few days of trial and error but I managed. Now you might be wondering what I am talking about. After experimenting again and again, with effort, I made the soles for the boots. The process was a pain and the failures were many, for starters I tried to make a mould out of carved wood. I must admit I am getting good at carving wood but that is for later right now I am explaining about the boots. So I poured the sap in the mould and waited, the end result wasn't good, it became a hard and brittle piece so I began mixing the sap with random stuff that came to mind.
It was tedious but I managed to discover a lot of combinations that may become useful later. For starters, if I mixed the sap with plain old water it became even stickier and the drying process became extremely slow. Mixing it with the black snake's poison made it change into a deep cloudy purple, as for its behaviour it became jelly-like extremely flexible however when poped toxic fumes came alongside an extremely corrosive liquid. Next, I tried mixing it with blood and to my surprise, this was the best combination for what I needed.
Mixing the sap with blood made it tough yet flexible enough, not to mention it was a bit springy. The only problem with it was the time it took for it to change into this form, that is to say, it was too fast. However, I went around this by making multiple small layers in the same mould while glueing it together with the sap water mix. After that, I used my new sewing skills to make the boots. Knee-high black boots made with black hide from a panther looking beast with the same sangria-red fur from the wobeli decorating its top edge. Yes, that's how I decided to call the wolf bear lion thing, I know not very creative but I don't feel like spending time naming a creature that surely has already been named.
After finishing the boots I began the horribly tedious process of making Naru and Pyrka's scabbards. I used the same blood sap mix as the soles and it took an entire week to finish the first one! The colour of this mixture ended as a crimson red for some reason so I decided that the first scabbard would belong to Pyrka since that's a colour that fits with her. As for Naru, I want to find a way to make it white just like before otherwise It's not gonna match.
It took a while, around half a week or so but I found out that by crushing a white stone that could be found in the river bed a really fine white powder could be acquired. This powder, when mixed with the sap beforehand, made the end result change into a really beautiful pearly white without compromising its integrity. After another week of tedious work, Naru's scabbard was finished too. By the way, I also used the wobeli for the inside of Pyrka's scabbard, as for Naru's I found a similarly soft fur from another beast that looked like a sabre tooth. Both of them loved them and thanked me for my efforts.

I am not sure for how long I had rampaged when I lost control, and as of now, I am already losing count of how many days I have been in this clearing. Maybe a month? no, that's not it, I think it was about a month ago that I finished with the scabbards so perhaps, two months? Anyway, I have been working on my hut and I guess calling it a hut isn't right anymore at this point it is more of a full-fledged house. Two rooms with beds on them alongside a kitchen and a living room, I must admit I am impressed with my own work. Trial and error was a huge part of it but at this point, I think I could live here without any problem from here on out. I get food by hunting and cook it with my makeshift bone tools, the bed I made is comfortable and I can laze around as much as I want. The only complaint I have is the fact that I am all alone.
Social interaction is important. I am not sure when but I started talking to myself at some point, well I always did what I mean is that I began doing it more often than normal. After that in an attempt to keep myself from doing just that I began talking to Naru and Pyrka. I guess talking to your weapons could be considered even more insane but hey they have consciousness and a personality so that doesn't count here! I really need to find someone.
This forest is the worst! it's like an endless maze! I have been trying to get out of it but I end back at the clearing every time! it's tiring you know, frustrating too, I began killing monsters indiscriminately to try and calm my nerves but that is no solution. I began thinking about mapping the area maybe that way I could get out. I prepared a few thin planks of wood and some charcoal to write with and began traversing the forest once more.
Finally! I know how to get out of this cursed place! while mapping I discovered that this forest has some kind of magic or interference of sorts towards the sense of direction. Every time I walked into the forest I would end up going on a loop right back into the clearing. After mapping, the loop became larger and larger. If this continues the loop might become large enough that it goes out of the actual forest and then I will be free!
I was naive, too naive. I am not sure how long I have been in this forest already, it might as well be a year or two. I have continued with my mapping of the forest but it seems endless, however, I don't feel so pressured to leave anymore. I have gotten used to the life here, hunting mapping and overall enjoying this simple life. Why do I keep trying to get out of the forest? Its because I don't have anything better to do. No monster in this forest is a challenge not to mention that if I get out I will be able to enjoy the luxuries of society. Anyway, today I mapped a new area where weird ostrich-like monsters hanged out. After that, I went back home ate dinner and indulged on pleasure.

Today I took my time to train once more. What I have been training is my mana control and my body. Well, I don't have any book on magic or anything like that so everything I have been doing is experimenting with some ideas while complimenting that with my instincts. As of now, I am able to push a large amount of mana outside my body causing a change of pressure with me at its centre. It reminds me of the shout from that one game. Aside from that I also discovered that my senses had a sharp increase in sensitivity. Well, I had a hunch after what happened with my clothes back then.
Anyway, the training was simple. I ran a few laps around the circumference of the clearing while using overload. I also released that explosion technic which I decided to call mana blast. By the time I finished, I was sweating quite a bit and my mana was running a bit low. I feel like I have somewhat changed, for starters that inherent laziness I had before is almost gone but now I feel like I tend to lose my patience more often than not. Now that I remember and this is important I discovered something really useful not long after finishing my clothes! They regenerate just like me!
I was surprised, it happened one day when I got caught off guard. A beast sneaked on me and cut my side, in a fit of anger I made it into minced meat. While checking my clothes with a heavy heart thinking about how to fix them I was surprised to see them in perfect shape despite me clearly seeing how the got cut. I began experimenting and it seems that they can feed of my overload and fix themselves. Maybe its because I used my hair as thread or something else but you know what they say, don't look a gift horse in the mouth.
Going back on track I also learned how to better control and use the bandages. As of now, I am quite skilled at using them if I may say so myself. From tying up an enemy to using them to hold onto stuff they are extremely useful! I have already thanked Pyrka a few times and I think I will do so a few more times in the future. As for Naru, I have gotten used to her ability and as of now, I am able to send an invisible blade made from it a few meters in front of me. I think that by the standards of the adventurers guild I should be around A- or maybe A. Not to toot my own horn but maybe if I were to go all out I might be able to get into S-.
Once again I decided to try and keep track of time and so I placed some wooden planks outside my house and began marking them to keep track of the days. That was three years two months and seventeen days ago. I might have missed a day or two but whatever, if I were to add this to the time I spent here before counting I think I have been in this forest around five to six years. yikes, that's a lot of time and this stupid maze of a forest is at fault. I have continued my mapping efforts and I have a circle of around a hundred kilometres radius mapped. This stupid forest makes me walk in a spiral outwards, with time I have managed to orientate myself better and the spiral keeps growing but I don't know when I will be able to leave.
Eight years, to be more specific eight years and a half. That's the time it took me to map enough of the forest to get the f*ck out. Now that I have left the forest I can go back to society! I am not crying, you are crying shut up! Anyway, after an emotional moment, I went back home to prepare. I have a lot of things that might be of worth out there and I am not leaving it back there. Now that I have my maps I can get in and out of this place like I own it. I got my leather backpack on my shoulders after packing the things I think I will need and set off to find civilisation once more. Onward!

The bad news is they just left one of their own as a sacrifice to appease the beast. No matter what Jack and his AI co-pilot decide, his life just got a lot more complicated... ATTENTION: This is soft sci-fi rather than hard sci-fi, hence why I chose that tag. For those of you unfamiliar with the distinction, here's what Wikipedia had to say. 1. It explores the "soft" sciences, and especially the social sciences (for example, anthropology, sociology, or psychology), rather than engineering or the "hard" sciences (for example, physics, astronomy, or chemistry). 2. It is not scientifically accurate or plausible; the opposite of hard science fiction. Soft science fiction of either type is often more concerned with character and speculative societies, rather than speculative science or engineering. The term first appeared in the late 1970s and is attributed to Australian literary scholar Peter Nicholls.
