《Up In Space》Please Exit the Vehicle .31 You can Catch it, I Know You Can

“But I’ll lose the lock on the star cluster,” he complained, looking back at the main screen. “Won’t I?”
“Keep veering and you’ll be back on course”, she patted his shoulder.
Two wrongs don’t make a right, but three lefts do, Iain remembered his first driving instructor telling him.
“Oh, do you smell that,” she added
He couldn’t smell anything unusual but a brief whiff of her scent, and the a faint odor of toast. Iain prayed he wasn’t having a stroke. And then he thought, wouldn’t the Transient Void get closer if they just turned in a circle?
“Maybe a blown circuit,” Cygnus said, patting his shoulder. “Let me check in the back.”
I’m not detecting anything a short circuit, the autopilot stated. All systems are operating at optimum.
“Says the autopilot that can’t do any piloting,” Iain replied sarcastically.
Point taken, the voice said. I’ll run a diagnostic. Would that ease your concerns? Maybe two diagnostics?
“Just keep veering, I’ll find out what’s cooking in the back,” Cygnus yelled at Iain from somewhere behind him.
The shuttle shuddered hard again. He heard another yelp coming from the rear compartment. The image in the rear view screens kept growing larger. He knew the ship was big, but not the scale of the ship coming towards them.
“Veer it is,” he said, and grabbed the control stick and pulled it left, harder this time. The acceleration threw him briefly against the side of his chair. A loud bang erupted from behind him, followed by some loud cursing in a language he couldn’t understand.
“Are you all right?” he yelled back.
“I’ll live,” Cygnus called back. “But could you at least offer some warning next time?!”
The shuttle shuddered again.
“Keep going!” she shouted.

So he did. Iain pushed forwards on the stick, accelerating, then as the shuttle shuddered as the tractor beam locked on again, he veered again, and again, and the seven stars were back front and center. The Transient Void, however, continued to grow larger and larger. It was now filling half the rear view screens.
And then, with all this, the shuddering, the roar of the engines came the distinct sound of Cygnus talking in the rear compartment.
At first Iain only caught snippets, given he was concentrating on trying to shake the ship closing in on them, but her words gradually became clearer and clearer.
“…no he forced me…” she was protesting.
Complaining then: “…I’m trying, but he’s very strong and persuasive…”
Now pleading: “…please help, I don’t want to die out here…”
After another veer, he’d had enough, let go of the stick, and worked the buckle on the straps till he figured out how to release them.
I don’t advise unbuckling your straps, the shuttle’s synth voice offered in a helpful tone. If the controls are release-
“Shut up,” Iain told it.
He then pulled himself up from the pilot seat and headed to the back of the shuttle. He could see Cygnus in a seat turned away from him as she gripped a handle on the rear compartment wall.
“You’ve almost got him,” she was saying in a low voice, “I will be so grateful, you just have to try a little harder. This is just a little shuttle, come on, you can catch it, I know you can!”
“Cygnus,” Iain stated, and she looked up at him with a face he was sure turned from annoyed, to guilty, to contrite in a seconds before it settled on happy to see him.
“Yes?” she asked. “Are we free yet?”
“Who are the fuck you talking to?”
The smile she offered him was about as insincere as it could get.
“Well, it’s not really a who, so much as a…”
Iain didn’t want to believe it. He really, truly didn’t. Or he wouldn’t have asked his next question.
“Are you talking to Skipper?!” he demanded to know. “Have you been working with it all along?! What the fuck, Cygnus?!”

A World Worth Protecting
By the year 3029 CE, Earth’s technology has developed rapidly, borders no longer exist, and Earth has been unified, marking the beginning of the era of the Federation. At that time, a huge sword flew from the heavens, piercing the sun and causing a huge sensation on Earth. Perhaps because the scabbard of the sword was already in tatters, countless shards have broken off from it following the collision with the sun and spread across the universe. Many of these shards have landed on various places across Earth. With the arrival of the bronze sword and its shards, a new unlimited energy source has suddenly appeared on Earth. This energy source has since been named Spirit Qi. Spirit Qi is like air, thick in some places and thin in others. As the Federation and other factions gather more shards, they discover more information on cultivation, pill refinement, Spirit Stone refinement, and other techniques. The words on the shards have an ancient feel to them, making it a trend for people to use ancient language. The appearance of Spirit Qi rapidly makes the original energy sources obsolete and has completely changed people’s lives. Not only has the Spirit Internet been formed, Spirit Qi has also changed the course of Human Civilization, causing the world to enter a civilization of cultivation. This would later come to be known as the Spirit Inception Era.

Lost souls: Road to Godhood (Isekai) [Writathon Participant]
In a world where mages stand above nobles and even the law, it's not surprising that everyone wants to learn magic. Luz and his brothers are no different. However, their peaceful lives are shattered when a dragon attacks their village. Left with no choice, Luz uses a forbidden spatial spell to save his brothers. The consequences are not pretty--he and his brothers are scattered across different realms. Luz will have to travel to places unknown to reunite his family and gain enough power to take vengeance on the dragon. Armed with a single spell that he can only cast once before his magic reserves are depleted, Luz has his work cut out for him. Being the oldest is never easy. Author note: Please be warned as the book won't be what you might expect since the early chapters of my work are more of a slice of life of an MC, trying to adjust to his new life rather than slaying monsters left and right from the get-go with accelerated growth cheat and missions given by a goddamn system that forges your path, since everyone knows: an MC needs a system that tells one how to move forward. That was a long sentence. Also, some of you might consider my chapter titles as clickbaity, while others like me might consider them: not boring titles, hehehe.
