《TUW》Earthen Man~♪ Take Me To The Land~♪ (Chapter 34)

I watched the myriad of people march towards me. As I watched them settle before me, I felt at the sight of so many potentially hostile people. Soon, a man headed towards me.
"Boy, what is your business here?" He asked, crossing his arms as he frowned.
"Uh... I came along with my sect to subdue the chaos seed. I was busy picking up the cores monsters dropped while the rest of them entered the cave." I pointed to the cave.
"Show me your identity card."
Oh. I fumbled with my bag and managed to find the card quite quickly. (AN: He got an identity card after the tournament.) The man took a look at the card and approved with a nod.
"You may go."
He then walked back his legion, muttering something to his legion. Me? I took out my lamp and hurried into the cave, wanting to get some action. As I headed down the tunnels, I heard the sounds of shouts and screams. Shit, that sounds bad. I decided to head out of the cave, not wanting to endanger myself.
And no, that is not selfish in any way. I wouldn't be able to change anything with my weak strength, so why risk my own life? As I headed out however, the same people who marched towards me was in the way. The man who checked my card was upfront.
"Boy, why are you heading out again?" He questioned with a scowl.
"I heard the screams of some people. I'm only a rank three so I don't think I could help much." I replied.
"Bah, disloyal coward!" He gave a glare that made me shudder. "Strange, how could a new seed create such powerful monsters?" He muttered while scratching his chin. "Onwards!" He then shouted to his legion.

I pressed myself against the wall as the legion walked pass, although it felt like forever due to how many people there were. As I trudged out of the cave and sat on a suitable rock, I sighed.
As I thought of what the man said, I did feel somewhat guilty. But as I mentioned earlier, what could I have done better in such a situation? I decided to take the time to read the spellbook of 'Sound Ninja' in the time I was given, hoping nothing too bad would happen.
The spell was hard to understand. I wasn't sure if it was done intentionally, but the author didn't write the steps with much detail. He assumed the reader had some knowledge on certain topics beforehand too and as such skipped many explanations, serving to make the spellbook more confusing.
By the time I started to get a hint of what was even explained in the spell, a rumble shook the land. The ground split open, leaving a giant chasm. The man from earlier hopped out first, covered in dirt and coughing. Hundreds of people soon followed, including people from my sect, the Fireborne sect and others. I was relieved to see that, especially when Griaugh exited as well.
"Griaugh, what happened?" I asked.
"Cough, cough!" He spat out a mouthful of dirt. "There is a really strong champion monster down there! Even the three sect masters combined together couldn't take it out!"
"What!" I was shocked. How strong was it to be able to force all the sects to escape?
Our sect master finally flew out of the chasm, but his blood covered body was floating limply in the air as he flew.
"What the heck happened?" I asked.
"Our sect master wasn't careful enough and hit by the monster! It broke almost all of his bones and now he has to use his magic to float in the air." Sighed Griaugh.

My shock elevated to a new level. It would have been shocking enough if the monster was enough to overpower the trio in a long battle, but in a single hit? That was insane!
"We need to evacuate! This country is no longer safe!" Shouted our sect master in panic. I wanted to ask if the chaos seed really was that dangerous but I didn't think such a question would be appropriate in this situation.
I pulled aside Griaugh to ask him (I think I have been treating him too much like a encyclopaedia lately).
"Griaugh, is the chaos seed really that dangerous?"
"Of course! It's why all the sects have to get rid of it before it grows!" He answered. "Over time, the seed will grow stronger and turn into a dungeon! It will slowly ravish the land of all the mana and eradicate all life!"
"What?" I answered in shock. No wonder the sect master was in such a hurry to evacuate. If the chaos seed is so powerful before it even evolves into a dungeon, how strong would it be then? It would be a huge disaster!

Instead join a man driven by his whims and given an unexpected headstart in the race for survival. ------------ This story is going to be refined slowly as I write new chapters, cleaning up grammar, typos, repeats, elements placed wrong, etc, I do my own proof-reading which is far from perfect so expect older chapters to be updated frequently with revisions. Release schedule will probably be at least 1 chapter a week.

Wulfgard: The Hunt Never Ends
In the civilized world of humans, 'monsters' have all but passed into legend. But when something goes bump in the night, when people begin to disappear, when a dark mystery begins to haunt even the most peaceful villages, there is only one organization to turn to: the Hunters. The Venatori. Having lived a life of discipline and service, former soldier Caiden Voros finds something even worse than the wars of humans: the monsters that hunt them. Horrors yet unknown even to him and his many scars await in the claws, talons, fangs, and mysterious powers of creatures so far beyond humans that he must dedicate himself entirely to the art of slaying them. Harboring a secret of his own and in a constant struggle to find answers while maintaining his sanity, however, Caiden begins to ask the age-old question... Who is truly worse, the monsters or the Men? Wulfgard: The Hunt Never Ends is an episodic collection of stories, each of which stand on its own, but they also build upon each other in a consecutive order, bridging a gap between a novel and short story collection. These stories follow monster hunter Caiden Voros and his partner Gwen Vergil as they embark on tales of mystery, horror, and adventure to track down monsters - the living dead, beast-men, shape-shifters, spirits, and many more - that would do harm to innocent lives and, by whatever means necessary, put a stop to their terrors. Their motives, however, are not always what they seem.
