Saying that is easy, however this struggle, it was one Lei Xingyue has never faced anything like it before.

The guards and maids stationed near Yating didn't even have enough time to be frightened when they heard their little miss's cry when they were frightened again when the master of the entire household appear in front of them.

If anything happened to the mistress, they won't survive even with nine lives.

"Hick!"

A single crying voice worsens that fear. Lei Xingyue on the other hand was composed, there are no one else with her. Yating is safe.

Even still, his concern is still palpable.

Waiting for his niece to come out from her room, Xingyue stands silently. The silence of the master of the house frightens the servants even more. Many awake from their sleep and rush out to see what happened. And when they see that scene, they were frozen on the spot.

Yating's head maid was one of those servants. Ma Zhihao was a servant in her 30s who pride herself because of some beauty. Immediately, she tries to move ahead of the other servants and kneels beside Lei Xingyue.

"Master Lei, since the miss is not answering, Zhihao fears for her safety. We should have someone b-"

"Be silent."

With a single command, Ma Zhihao shut her mouth, not daring to utter another word.

The uncomfortable silence stretch on for the servants, until Yating comes to open her door. It is clear that she didn't want Xingyue to see her.

"Is there anything wrong?" With a soft voice, Lei Xingyue asks Yating through the gap of the door she has opened.

"N-nothing. When I was sleeping when a cockroach appears out of nowhere. I was so scared that I screamed, that's all."

Ma Zhihao opened her mouth to protest. She is the one in charge of cleaning the lady's room, claiming that it was unclean to the point a cockroach crawls into the lady's room, wasn't it blaming her?

In the Lei manor, even cockroach dared not enter, let alone entering the lady's room, Lei Xingyue's most treasured niece.

This lady is acting up again, she has always been so spoiled.

"Miss Zhang, how could you say that. I have been a dutiful servant, everyone could see. Let alone a cockroach, I have cleaned the room so thoroughly that-"

Two male servants move to drag the sobbing Ma Zhihao away. Whispering in their ears, Xingyue tells them

"You can skip the canes. Dissolves her contract and give her severance pay normally."

While sobbing and being dragged away, Ma Zhihao did not know how lucky she was. Lei Xingyue only needs a scapegoat.

Xingyue looks back at his niece who has composed herself.

"It must have been a frightening cockroach."

"Don't worry uncle Lei! I already chased it away."

Lei Xingyue looks at his niece's face.

She is bad at lying. And yet...

"Goodnight then." He smiles softly at her.

"Goodnight uncle Lei." Yating hurriedly closes her door.

Lei Xingyue scans the yard, looking at all the servants.

"Tonight's event is over. Everyone goes back to your room. Take Ma Zhihao as a lesson for you all. If you failed in your duty, you will end up like her."

Saying that to scare his servants, Lei Xingyue went back to his room.

It was late at night, in the hour of the ox, everyone in the manor has already fallen asleep. Lei Xingyue's eyes was wide opened.

From tomorrow, he will be watching Yating more closely.
