《My Life as a Farmer in Another World》Chapter 6 - Learning and Growth

Alice just saw a kid cast a spell for the first time in his life and he had done it just by thinking about water. A huge mass of water appeared right in front of her. Most people take years to be able to cast their spells that way. It took her 10 years of training with an experienced teacher in her hometown to learn and this kid who is doing it for the first time, did it on the first try without knowing how. She knew the kind of risks that this kid would pose if he ever got out of control. She couldn’t imagine the type of power he could wield when he gets older, with all seven elements. He would have the power to take on a whole army by himself. Conquering dungeons by himself would probably be an easy task. When Alice was first given this job of training a kid, she thought that it was just some rich parents investing too much in a kid and way too early but she had been convinced today. The next thing she planned to teach Luke was how to control his spells and how to read and write.
Luke’s first spell had been a success, conjuring a water ball but it didn’t seem like a ball. Just a blob of water floating in front of him. Alice had told him to do this exercise of making water and then into a ball. It was starting to be exhausting after an hour. Luke felt like his body was going to collapse but after overhearing last night’s discussion, he knew that if he ever slacked off in his training. This was going to be a miserable existence for him, this was his second life and he already knew what might happen if word ever got out about his powers. After completely using up all of his stamina, Luke collapsed.

Alice walked outside to see how Luke was doing, she saw the kid was completely collapsed from exhaustion. She figured he would have given up by the 10-minute mark but he was still going so she went inside the house to get some lesson planned but she lost track of time before she came out an hour and a half later. “Never expected a two-year-old to cast spells to collapse,” said Alice. She picked him up and took him inside to rest in bed.
Luke woke up with Alice by his bedside. Alice said “you really didn’t have to keep doing that if you got really tired. You collapsed after using up all your stamina.” Luke weakly said “I really want to become strong fast.” Alice smiled and went out of his room. She said “we will have your reading and writing lessons later after dinner.” The reading and writing lessons are going to be a pain to sit through since Luke already knew how to do it. He was just to have to pretend that he didnt know it and show he learned it really fast.
Luke pretended to not know how to read and write. It took him three week of afternoon sessions to know the alphabet and it took him another three weeks to write properly. Luke also did the same thing for math lessons. He knew how to add, subtract, multiply and divide in less than six weeks of afternoon lessons. His afternoon lessons were the easy part of the training for him. Learning how to control magic and building up his stamina to use more magic were his first priorities. Luke also started going out in the country side with Alice on walks around the village, of course James and Samantha were always with them on these walks.

Luke continued to train with magic control and using magic till he was seven years old, along with more advanced reading lessons. During this time he felt a very strong connection with Alice and he started to feel that he could trust her as a person who could be relied upon if something ever happened to him. Alice couldn’t help Luke much with healing, fire, light and dark magic but he learned a lot of lessons he could have applied to those elements from air, water and earth magic lessons she gave him. At the age of seven, Luke knew how to use the basic spells in each magical elements. Next were intermediate spells but he could only learn those of Alice, Samantha and James. He was still unable to learn any of the light and dark magic spells.
By the time Luke became ten years old, he had learned the intermediate and saint class magic spells for air, healing, water, fire and earth magic. So he was somewhat ready to go out into the world by himself and he could be one of the most powerful ten year olds on the planet if there wasnt some kid who has worked as hard as him. His magic was already on the level of his parents and teacher and he had a strong urge to go explore the world but on his tenth birthday, he received a notification in his head.
