《Exceptional Normalcy (A Pokemon Fanfiction)》CH2 - A Great New Start In A...What Was I Talking About Again?

A slow rhythmic beeping was the first thing that greeted me when my consciousness returned. I groaned something unintelligible and tried to blend it out. It seemed impossible, so I had no other choice but to wake up. I opened my eyes to a fuzzy vision and rubbed them in an attempt to clear it.
I could see a monitor to my left, which gave off this insufferable noise. To my left was a small table with a cup of water on top. I greedily picked it up and downed it as quick as possible. With a satisfied sigh, I returned the cup back to the table, only to notice the state of my hand. It was small! Not only my hand, I looked at all my other appendages and found the same problem. I hastily looked through the room for any reflecting surface.
When I found one, I could see a young boy looking back at me.
Ashen hair and a pair of shiny purple eyes gave me a spooky vibe. The next thing I noticed was //Fuck, I shrank! Wait why do I think so?//
"No, no, I was older than...12, right? But how much? How did I even get here? Ok, I was around...something and my name is...SHIT! Why can't I remember!" Every time I tried to think of my past and identity, I could only hear a voice in the back of my mind telling me it was |Payment|.
I pressed a button, which would notify a nurse. I slowly calmed down, while I waited for someone to come. A minute later a young nurse came inside and smiled at me when she noticed that I was awake. "Good morning young man, it is good to see that you woke up. You had us all scared when you were brought here to us. You were completely famished and at the brink of dehydration." //Well, no shit, being aged down. The energy has to come from somewhere.//

"How long have I slept?" I asked in a childish voice.
"For 2 whole days! That's why we were so worried", she answered me in a stern voice. So two days since I...I...*sigh*. //I hat amnesia.// Well, maybe she can help me with that. "Excuse me miss?" "Yes, how can I help you?"
"Can you tell me who I am?" Great, best question of the year and the shocked face of the nurse is just perfect. Wouldn't the situation be so dire, I would have begun to laugh.
"Wait, what! Don't tell me. Please just lie down for a bit. I need to get a doctor" she quickly ran out of the room and vanished to the right. And I waited and waited and waited some more. Hey, it's a butterfly! No, that's just a Beautyfly *sigh*...Wow, so I can still remember pokemon facts. Ok personal memories are a NO, but knowledge is still there. Ok, understood.
Around 3 minutes later, the nurse came back with a doctor and an Alakazam in tow. "I am back and have with me two specialists that work with amnesia patients. Hopefully, they can help you." The doc walked up to me and greeted me.
"Hello, my name is Dr.Morelle I work with victims of amnesia. Be it through physical, psychical or supernatural means. My partner here" He pointed to the Alakazam, "will help me with that, ok?" I gave an approving nod and sat up.
"So just stay calm and don't fight back, if you do, it could start to hurt."
Soon after I could feel something pressing against my mind. //This feels familiar// It wasn't hard for me to let the pokemon inside my mind. It was like a link was created between us. Soon after I could 'hear' a voice.

|Thank you for your cooperation human. I will make this quick.| I could feel her, because the voice was definitely female, scanning my mind inside out. It was very intimate and even more embarrassing than standing nude in public. After some agonizingly shameful minutes, I could feel the pokemon leaving my mind. Right after it was projecting a telepathic message to all of us.
|I can tell that for 100%, that the boy was a victim of a psychic attack. There was not one part left of his memories unchanged. Every single piece that could lead to his identity was deleted or overwritten. Personality wise he should still be the same, but someone or something didn't want him or anyone to find out who he was.|
I could tell, that it wasn't only me that was shocked by this. Whoever had done this, was very powerful. "So~, that means you don't know who I am?"
It was the doctor who answered me."Yes, I'm sorry that we couldn't help you." "Ok, I understand. Can we find out how old I am and where I came from?"
|You should be physically 12 years old, but mental age is hard to describe because of the severe tinkering of your memory. But it seems to be impossible to find out where you came from.|
Ok, I am completely convinced that the specialist is only the Alakazam and that the doc is only there to reassure the patients. //Have I just heard snickering.// I looked at the Alakazam and could see her smiling? //Ok, still mindreading it seems.// I could only shake my head.
"So what now? I don't know who I am and have no idea where to go." The nurse decided to join the conversation once again. "You would not be the first person to have something like that happen to them, you see. You will become part of a certain program. While we will try to find out about your past, you will gain a new identity in the meantime."
"Can I choose my new name or will I get a premade one?"
"Don't worry in a few days a staff member of the government will come here to work everything out. We will help in any way we can." Oh, that's great. right?
"But what about hospital bills, I don't have any money on me." It was the doctor that answered me now. "Oh that, now that we have evidence that you really lost your memory, the government will have to pay for it." I could see an evil grin blooming on the faces of all three of them. Miss nurse once again took the lead, "Now that we have finished that, I ask both of you to leave the room so that our patient can continue his rest."
All of them went their way and I was once again alone in silence.
//Yes I can feel it, the boredom is attacking. But I'm also really tired. It seems that a memory scan is very tiring for the one on the receiving end. Well then good *yawn* night//

Cast out from his knightly order for using magic, Corec has no idea what lies ahead. Leaving his homeland to make his own way in the world, he finds himself linked to a beautiful woman through a mysterious rune. RE: Souls War Apocalyse

I was right. The war? Hell, we lost it so much all the nations of the world have been destroyed and all the races have disappeared. Me? I was a veteran who survived until the end. Was I strong? Fuck yeah of course I was, except ... it was useless, I died like everybody else. The bad news? When I thought it was finally over, I woke up in the past, the moment I was summoned to the beginning of the war. Come on, seriously? Do I really have to go through all that again? What? And everything restarts every time I die? No... are you fucking kidding me? Right? Genre: Action, Adventure, Medieval Apocalypse, Times Loops, Progression, War & Fantasy, Grimdark, Magic, Horror, LitRPG (but RP). Tone: Despair at the firsts chapters (which makes sense for a story that begins with the end of the world, doesn't it?), and lots of humor and stupid situations after to lighten the tone of the story. (Oh, and the MC is NOT a psychopath, a rapist, a hypocrite, or human garbage, so sorry for those who like that, because I don't like that). Note: Expect this story to contain grammatical errors and occasional random conjugations. I am learning English, and I have made a lot of progress, but I still have some gaps. So if you're allergic to it, don't read this story, you would inevitably be disappointed.
