《The Life of a Goddess and a Fox in the Cultivation World》Chapter 10 - Bai Yue redressing grievances

Mortal Realm, Hoborg Empire's capital planet, Throne room. The guards' captain gave the other guards the order to let Marc and Illia enter the throne room after their conversation. When the doors opened the two could see the emperor looking a little flustered on his massive throne with an entourage constituted of his empress, a few important princes and his ministers. Seeing the identity of the two who came in, the emperor frowned slightly and a bit of hatred and jealousy could be faintly perceived flickering in his eyes when he looked at the couple. The two were aware of the man's current feelings and where they came from, so they at first planned to ignore it. However, when noticing how obvious his resentment showed on his face, an obvious smile of disdain appeared on Marc's face while Illia was more discreet, but disgust could be seen in her eyes. Walking towards the throne, Marc started to talk. “My brother, I have sad news for you. The whole Empire shall grieve on this day as it lost one of his best prince. The poor third prince fell less than an hour ago around the Decan Kingdom in a mysterious manner. I really wish to know who was the amaz...cough.... I mean awful being who killed that tra...cough... I mean your amazing son. You should clean this room more thoroughly, by the way, as the dust in here makes me cough.” His tone was so obviously sarcastic and taunting that it made the Emperor's brows twitch with so much anger that he almost unleashed his killing intent and jumped to fight his brother on the spot. That's when he remembered that he only reached the Early Level 7 thanks to all the resources used by him because of his position as the emperor. That was unlike his brother who attained the peak of the same level with a very high Law Comprehension level, and that with mostly his own effort. Thinking about the consequences of fighting him and the humiliating defeat he would receive, he succeeded in calming himself and proceeded to say in a stately manner. “We shall indeed grieve for Our son. After this audience, We shall send a team to investigate the matter.” Seeing that his taunt did not have the intended result, Marc tsked at the missed justified opportunity of beating his half brother up and humiliating him. Illia, knowing her husband's thoughts, covered her mouth to laugh lightly at his side. The Emperor seeing her beautiful smile despite her aged face, stared at her for a few seconds, until Marc stealthily released a bit of killing intent towards the Emperor, which made him sweat in fright. “I believe that his majesty the Emperor should focus on her majesty the Empress instead of coveting other's wives. Humph!” Marc said in disdain. Although the rest of the people in the room did not say anything, one could feel the judgement towards the emperor's action coming from them, especially with the Empress present. Having vented a bit of his resentment due to the long years of resentment towards his and his wife's unfair treatment by the Imperial family, he took his wife's hand and moved to one of the room's side where he took a comfortable sofa from his Dimensional ring and sat on it with Illia on his side. They then proceeded to order one of the servants in the room to go fetch the two something to eat. The servant bowed in acquiescence and went on her way to the imperial kitchen to prepare it. Seeing the lack of decorum from the couple, the people who were not familiar with them were outraged at their attitude. However before anyone of them said anything, the ones in the know shared with them the identity of this legendary couple, and explained to them the consequences should they annoy them too much. After all, their status and martial powers were as different as heaven and earth compare to theirs. Less than an hour later, a servant came to the emperor to notify him that the VIP arrived with her family and was waiting to enter. The Emperor, knowing that one should not make powerhouses wait, gestured to the servant to let them inside the room. Once the latter went to fetch them, the group of four entered, with a Lady in front with a baby in her arms and a couple behind. Unlike what she usually did, Bai Yue did not hide her cultivation level, which terrified the people present. The couple behind her was completely overshadowed by her, despite their high cultivation base. When all of them noticed how powerful the group in front of them was, they all started to have cold sweat, especially after feeling how the Lady seemed to be angry with the Emperor. Despite his lecherous nature, the emperor completely ignored the sex appeal that radiated from the two women in front of him, particularly the masked lady. Instead he asked with a meek tone shivering a little from his fear, even forgetting to use the royal “We” because of the latter. “May I know why your Ladyship wished to see me?” Despite having a baby in her arms left arm, Bai Yue radiated dignity that forced others to bow down in respect. “You are this Empire's Emperor, right?” She asked rhetorically in a freezing tone. “Yes, this lowly one is the Emperor.” His tone disgusted Marc who mumbled in a low tone that no one but Bai Yue picked up. “No spine at all. I really wondered why the Grand Elder made him the Emperor.” Hearing his mumbles, Bai Yue's lips curled up slightly behind her mask. She looked at the one who talked and saw the old couple sitting on a sofa on the side of the room, clearly distancing themselves from the other people in the room. She decided to scan the two with her Divine sense and the result surprised her slightly. It gave her a few ideas that she kept in her head, before getting back to the situation happening in front of her. “Let me tell you a small story that happened to my family and I today. After arriving at the Decan Kingdom, we were respectfully welcomed, and led to the Official teleporter as per our wish. While waiting for its activation, a spaceship approached us and the man in charge ordered us to let them in to search for a treasure that was supposedly his. When I refused he started to attack us, but thankfully I froze the vessel with my powers. After begging me for mercy and threatening us with the organization behind them, I decided to obliterate them like the trash they were.” While she was narrating the story with a cold and indifferent voice, everyone in the room were listening attentively, a bit confused as to why she was sharing that story, since it did not seem to concern them. Only the old couple, who had a guess about what happened before Bai Yue told the story, had that same guess confirmed after hearing it. That realization made Marc smile slightly in schadenfreude. “That man who attacked us threatened to kill the men in my family and rape the women. Now, you're probably wondering why I'm sharing this story with you. It's because the organization that he threatened me with was the Hoborg Empire and he presented himself as the third prince of your empire. Do you understand the problem we have?” After finishing talking, she released a small part of her kill intent on every Level 6 and 7 Cultivators in the Palace. Feeling like they were drowning in a sea of blood, all of them felt despair. Even the Grand Elder hidden in his estate which was situated in the Palace, who reached Early level 8 felt like an ant in front of a mountain, or worse, a grain of sand in front of the ocean. Although, he thought he would die, the killing intent retreated after a few seconds, scaring the living daylight of everyone, but not creating any serious injuries. “Damn it! What was that? Who pissed off that expert?” He yelled in anger and fright, guessing that someone from his family angered someone he/she shouldn't have. After feeling the direction of the killing intent, he noticed that it came from the throne room. He then decided to fly there to prevent them from messing up even more. Hopefully, that would avoid that cultivator destroying his empire. In the throne room, the people started to breath again after Bai Yue recalled her killing intent, feeling like they went to hell before coming back to the living. Although they were alive, all of them were sprawled on the ground with their clothes soaked in sweat and their faces so pale from the fright that they could almost be mistaken as ghosts. However, the one who felt the worst was definitely the emperor as he understood his son's personality the best since he had a similar character, being lecherous himself. Knowing what kind of things he might have said to this expert in front of him, he was so scared that he almost died of fright. “How much is your and your family's lives worth I wonder?” She continued. After a few seconds of fearful silence, the doors to the throne room opened to what seemed at first like a young man in his twenties, however Bai Yue could see that he was the oldest in the room and the one with the highest cultivation, her group not included. Seeing the situation inside he understood instantly what was going on, if not the details of the problem. Looking at Bai Yue and feeling her strength that was as deep as the abyss, he walked quickly towards her with a respectful face. Stopping a dozen meters from her and her group, he bowed towards them and asked. “Your Ladyship, I am the Grand Elder of this Empire. May I know how my worthless son, the Emperor, offended you? I promise to do my best to punish him to redress your grievance.” Looking at him indifferently, she moved her eyes towards the old couple on the side and said while looking at Marc. “You explain.” When Marc heard her address him, he fell in a daze for a few seconds as he did not think that she would involve him in the drama, seeing that he distanced himself from everyone else. After Illia saw that he was daydreaming, she knocked his left arm with her elbow, which woke him up. He then proceeded to recount what happened to the Grand Elder without embellishing anything. Hearing the entire story from Marc's mouth, the man's face changed from red to white as he alternated between being furious and scared a few times in a row. After Marc finished the recounting, the Grand Elder turned to look at the Emperor with a look that promised a thousand death. “Good, Good, Good! It seems that some people in the family think that they can do whatever they want without any consequences, just because they have me as a backing. I think that a change is needed, or you, worthless descendant, will be the cause of destruction for our Imperial family.” Listening to his speech, the three adult from the fox team could understand that the man was angry, not because his grandson was about to rape a woman and killed innocent, but because he angered a peerless expert that they could not afford to offend. Bai Yue thought. “So typical.” After which, under the horrified eyes of the emperor, she pointed to him and proclaimed. “He has to die first.” Hearing the death sentence, he started to beg her for mercy, while kneeling on the ground. “Please, I beg Senior to let me live! I'll do anything! Anything senior want, I can even be senior's servant if you wish.” He rambled for a few seconds, when she added with a look as if she was looking at a disgusting worm on the ground. “You talk too much.” Finishing her sentence, she suddenly waved her hand and the emperor disintegrated on the spot. Seeing the terrifying scene happening in front of them, they all started to suck a mouthful of cold air in fright. The most scared one was the Grand Elder, as despite his cultivation of Early Level 8, he could not understand how the masked woman killed his son, nor did he feel any energy emanating from her hand movement. As he has been at the top of his empire for a long time, he was used to feeling invincible. However, when he understood how insignificant he was compared to that woman, his pride crumbled and an inner demon started taking root in his mind. Noticing what happened, Bai Yue only added. “Much better.” That so called Grand Elder annoyed her with his hypocrisy, so when she realized that he will probably never advance in his cultivation because of his inner demon, she simply stayed silent without trying to help him dispel it. After almost a full minute of silence, the Grand Elder turned back to Bai Yue. “I...” Despite trying to find something to say, maybe blame her, or even demanding for answers, the cruel reality of the situation dawned on him. Indeed, in the Wanderer's Realms, whether you were good or bad, merciful or cruel, as long as your fist was bigger than everyone else around you, then you were in the right. Taking deep breath to calm himself, he the asked respectfully. “Now that your Ladyship avenged herself, is there anything my family and I can do for you and your family?” “Yes. There are two things.” Hearing her answer, he sighed inwardly in relief, thinking that as long as she needed something from him, she would not kill him. “My family and I are planning to settle down in your Empire. Preferably on this planet.” He instantly understood what she implied and said. “Then I shall let my people present to you several mansions for you to choose from. Or if you wish to build a new one, you can let them know and the bill will be footed by the Imperial family. And the second request is...?” Instead of answering his question, she turned towards Marc and Illia. After which she asked. “The two of you. Who are you?” The two of them were surprised from her sudden interest in them. However, the both of them stood up and bowed respectfully towards her. Illia began to share their identities. “Senior, My name is Illia Kapis from the Kapis family, and this is my husband Marc Hoborg, High Level Elder from the Hoborg Imperial family.” Nodding to their introduction, she asked in an indifferent tone. “Since we do not know anyone or anything about the place, why don't you become our guide?” Despite a proposition that could be perceived as demeaning towards an Elder, the couple was not foolish enough to take it as such. After all, being able to be around such a high level powerhouse may help them advance their cultivation by leap and bounds. Instead of a dishonor, it was more akin to a fortunate encounter. After thinking quickly they looked at each other and saw the same answer in the other's eyes, then turned towards Bai Yue and nodded in ascent. “It will be our pleasure to guide senior around.” The Grand Elder looked towards his son and his daughter-in-law in envy, but did not say anything and waited for the masked woman to resume talking. “I'll take those two away then. We'll leave now.” After which she turned around with the fox couple following right away, with the old couple looking around a few times before following as well. Right after the doors close on their backs everyone left in the room started to steer, as if waking up from a dream, or more precisely a nightmare. One of the men almost cried in relief. “We survived... Thank the Realms.” Another said. “I really thought we would die when she released her killing intent.” A few others began to share their opinions about what just happened to them. When the Grand Elder heard them talking, he declared in a cold voice. “All of you shut up!” The people stopped talking immediately. “You all saw what happened. The Lady and her family is not to be offended at any price. I will destroy anyone who dares to do it and his or her family will have to pay the price for it. All of us here have some trash descendants. You all know what to do with them.” They nodded in ascent. “As for the Imperial family, I'll investigate it myself. Everyone but the Imperial family is dismissed.” Everyone concerned then left. After which, the Grand Elder planned the enthronement of the crown prince and, along elders from prominent families, started a purge of the black sheep inside their family, which were a lot more numerous than they expected. However, that did not deter them from acting. That day was a bloody one, as many lawless "young masters” and “young mistresses” were struck down, while other suffered harsh punishments. The populace rejoiced from this purge, especially the ones who suffered from those involved in it who felt liberated from their hatred. Unknown by those people, the woman who caused this purge was simply sight seeing with her family in this city where they were planning to stay for a long time. For how long, though? Only the future could tell.
