《Wulfgard: The Hunt Never Ends》The Final Letter

Dear Tom,
“Fun” hunts. I don’t know about that. I can say for sure that this is not a fun job, but I think I understand what you mean. We haven’t had any of those lately. Not nice ones with a happy ending, like the troll. One thing that I’ve found hard to accept in the Venatori is that hunts don’t always, and even rarely, have a happy ending like that. We got very lucky there.
Not too long ago, we found a gryphon that had been terrorizing some pastures, if that counts. It tore up Caiden’s arm badly enough that I think it left some nasty scars. He was pretty sore about it, in more ways than one, not that he would ever admit it. We investigated two other monster sightings. One was a murderer who was very human, the other just a brush fire. The life of a Venator is not always very exciting. Most monsters really are eliminated from the Empire, so even when people think a monster is behind it, it often isn’t.
Sometimes it gets too exciting, though. The last hunt we went on, I’m still not sure what to make of it. I don’t like to talk or think about it, and that includes writing. I guess maybe I’m not fully recovered from that one yet. Maybe I’ll write to you about it later.
Caiden and I are taking a bit of a break after what we went through on that one. I’m sure, with our job, that break won’t last long, though. I do know Caiden wants to go back to his home in Redfield sometime. Maybe we will do that in a few weeks. I’m not sure yet. Will let you know how it goes.
Sorry this letter is short. I’m still pretty mixed up after that last hunt. Hope you’re doing well, though. Tell me something nice when you get back to me, if you can. I think I could use it.
Stay vigilant,
Gwenevere Vergil
