《Lune Levant》HEA: Chapter 12

“…So did you sleep well last night?” the Queen asked, spreading marmalade on a biscuit.
“Not really,” Pitch replied.
She sat very quietly at the brunch table, with her hands folded together over her golden skirt. Although she found the smells of the various cakes and cured meats fairly enticing, she couldn’t bring herself to eat…but she decided it was enough for her just to be there.
“You know, I just knew that dress would become you,” the Queen continued. “But then, every color looks striking over such dark, even skin…you could stand out wearing beige, or gray; I’ve always envied— I mean, I’ve always admired you for that.”
Pitch made a face. “That’s nice…” she murmured.
“I apologize if it doesn’t fit quite right…it’s from my own collection, you see. Oh, but I’ve ordered two dozen new gowns especially for you, from couturiers all over the land. They’ll start arriving in the next few weeks; I’m sure you’ll love them.”
“I’m sure I will.”
The Queen stirred her tea. “…I suppose it wouldn’t be appropriate for me to ask you how you’ve been…since you left here…”
“No, it would not.”
“Well then…” The Queen took a tiny sip. “May I at least know where you found that creature?”
“What cre— oh, you mean Azor…”
“You named it…?”
“I didn’t— that’s his own name. He said as much, anyway.”
“Did he now…? I don’t think I’ve heard him say a word since you arrived here.”
“Well…only those he wants to hear him can hear him.”
“Ah…” The Queen smiled. “So he’s a magical creature.”
Pitch squinted. “…Yes,” she replied.
The Queen stood up and stepped lightly over to the window, looking out at the garden below.
“…I think I should like to meet this ‘Azor’,” she said. “Would you be kind enough to introduce me to him?”

“I…I suppose I wouldn’t mind, but he doesn’t…I don’t know if he…would agree to that,” Pitch said. “He’s a bit…antisocial…”
“But he’ll listen to you, won’t he? After all, he accompanied you all the way here…I’m sure you could convince him to join us for tea. Just once? He is technically my houseguest; it’s only proper.”
Pitch felt a little strange about her stepmother’s insistence on the matter…but ultimately decided not to dwell on it. “If that’s what you really want, I’ll ask him,” she said. “But…I can’t promise anything.”
Meanwhile, at the lighthouse, the little girl was preparing to sleep.
She removed the pins from the quilt top she had been sewing, and pulled it up around her. Although she had gotten out of bed just a few hours earlier, there was a deep, unfathomable exhaustion in her heart, one that gradually pulled her eyelids closed.
“I’ll just talk to him once,” she thought to herself. “I’ll just talk to him…”
The girl soon fell asleep, and from there she began to dream.
She dreamt she walked through the place called the Deathbed, that endless field of pure white feathers where she had stood so long ago, pleading for the lives of every being in the universe.
The place where she had very nearly been destroyed by the woman who created the world, and was now no more.
The girl felt an itch, and looked down at her hand. The red string tied around her pinky finger twitched excitedly.
“…I’m not here to write,” she said to it.
“Then what are you here for…?” said a voice from behind her.
She turned around, and saw the familiar silhouette of a young man.
“…Of course, I already know,” he went on. “But since you came all this way, I’ll let you explain it.”

Leftover Apocalypse
[Participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] This is a story about the newly-adult Calliope Smith having a terrible day that ends in her getting mysteriously teleported from Phoenix, Arizona to a fantasy world where her life is in constant danger. She considers this an upgrade. Someone evil is looking for her, and she doesn't know why. Someone who seems to know a lot about her has promised they'll help her, but she doesn't know who they are. All that matters to Callie is that magic is real and one way or another she's going to learn it. The end of the world is coming up, sure, but Callie won't need to worry about that. In fact, by the time she even finds out about it one of the doomsday devices will already be destroyed, and the authorities will be well on the way to dealing with the other one. It's fine. Everything will be smooth sailing. Almost certainly. Probably. Chapters are usually about 2500-3500 words, and the goal is to post 2-3 per week but I sometimes get busy or have some writers block. It's your standard portal fantasy / Isekai premise, but unlike some the main character's time on Earth and how she got pulled into another world will (eventually) be explored. Some slight GameLit-feeling stuff later, no menus or level-ups but there's something suspiciously like a skill tree when the magic system gets going. No number crunching, and while the main character will get to do some silly stuff she won't be a god like in some fics (and will in fact spend a lot of time being badly outclassed by her enemies). Some reader interaction, ranging from adding to the worldbuilding to occasionally making big important decisions about skill progression. Please note that the main character is flawed and impulsive, and will make some stupid decisions. That's part of the story, but I get that it's not for everyone. Trigger Warnings: Foster care system references, crappy parenting. Some mental health adjacent stuff, specifically the main character has some issues where she experiences varying levels of empathy and emotional vulnerability depending on the day (it's complicated and not meant to portray any real-world conditions). Occasional violence including mention of death and grievous bodily harm, but no detailed descriptions of gore.

Thoren flies headlong into action...literally. What equates to skipping the tutorial, Thoren finds himself stuck in a level 50 instanced dungeon. no food no water no weapon only the company of an imp. "I'm Screwed" ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This story uses the system derived by Puddles4263 in Randidly Ghosthound. I've incorporates the Path's system into the leveling of this story. Some of the beginning paths will be similar or the same as I thought that the starting paths were very logical on how a system should start. The stories will be completely different as the characters and story arcs will be completely different. Again, thank you Puddles for allowing me to use your system, really appreciate it! I also wanted to thank ProFound Magician. Has a lot of insight into a story development and as his system is based on Ghosthound, I saw a some beginning stage skills that should be thought of in a character just starting out. If you haven't yet read Ghosthound or Genesis System you're in for a real treat when you do! Thank you both I hope my use is seen as an homage in the beginning. Hopefully my story can live up to the system.

Meaning usually there will be 3 chapters a week, there will be weeks with 4 chapters. Anyway it's just easier that way to set the timer for the chapter releases Disclaimer: This is a work of fiction and any characters or events that might resemble something in reality is a coincidence that's weirder than krillen beating jiren.
