《The Pet Dragon》Viewing Conditions

What I saw was weird.
No, it was not the scenery I beheld before myself but rather the way I saw it. Honestly, I can't accurately describe it. The only way that comes close is that I simultaneously saw two different things at the same time.
However, I noticed soon that when I blinked, those...views separated. First one then the other, and then both again combined. I could not fath—
Hmm. I remembered the confusion when I cried. I had ignored it then, but my tears came from a few more places than I recalled ever having.
Hesitatingly I closed my eyes and reached up to feel at them.
Four. I had four eyes.
With heightened heart rate I held two — one on each side — shut and willed my eyes open.
Everything became rather weirdly colored and a little blurry at the edges. And I recognized that view.
I have heat vision.
Quickly switching the eyes I held shut, I was able to see rather normally. Though I definitely had better depth perception. I think. I could definitely tell things apart very easily, even at fairly great distances. I guess you could say that I had eagle eyes.
And snake eyes, I guess. They had heat vision, right? Wait, no, they had these, uhm, pits on their snouts. Apparently, it works differently for me.
~Ugh.~ One less reference to help my understanding. Yaaaaay.
I lowered my paws to open my eyes again and looked down at the water. The creek was clear but the reflections were dark and I couldn't make out a lot of detail.
Giving out a sigh I drank a little more. The knowledge of being covered in yucky stuff made me want to take a bath; however, I had yet to find a source of heat. My face and claws being wet were quite enough for me without adding the rest of my body to the equation in this chill.

The thing was that, looking around, I couldn't find any signs of fire. Making one myself was a pipedream, for I had only the most rudimentary understanding of how such a feat might be accomplished.
My stomach growled.
I also didn't know what I could eat. I mean, conventional wisdom would, of course, suggest that dragons are carnivores, but even if that were true, I didn't have an easy source of meat either. I had no tools to make weapons and was thus confined to the ones inherent in my species. So close-quarter was my only real option. I, however, had absolutely no experience in fighting and was also lacking in any natural defenses.
I looked up and down the stream — a constant source of water and all that — and observed how it came from a small forest a little ways off.
Guess that's going to be my next destination.
