1-2 Status

After a few minutes of calming down, I and the rest of my classmates including our teacher are being lead to a castle by these strange men. We were put into several carriages that look like it was designed in Medieval times while most of us are trying to understand our predicament.

I recognized this pattern as being summoned to another world from the light novels I’ve read, but I didn’t think this would happen to me. Also, I managed to stay calm during this very strange development due to a few experiences from traveling with my uncle. Although this situation puts on top of the weird things that I’ve ever experienced.

While we are riding to the castle, I take a look outside and saw many buildings that were designed in European architecture and it was also night time. This proves that we are in a different world as we finally made it to the huge castle that was centered in the middle of this city.

After getting off, we have arrived at the throne room of this castle where a red carpet was laid across the center of the room with the knights standing side by side on the left and right of it, the carpet also covered the steps leading towards to throne. At the end of the room were four people dressed in noble attires sitting on their respective thrones.

A man and woman sitting next to each other must be the king and queen. A middle-aged old man with blonde hair and a beard, also with a dignified and domineering aura around him. The woman must be around the same age as him, but with her youthful appearance, it doesn’t look that way. She has a different hair color which is red and her clothing matches it.

The boy and girl beside them must be the prince and princess too. The young man looks around the same age as us with blonde hair and blue eyes. He has an arrogant aura coming from him and gazes at some of the female students with interests. He must be some kind of playboy when I noticed his dirty stare. The young lady looked 1 or 2 years older than the man while inheriting the hair color from the woman. She looks beautiful, but when I looking at her closely, it looks gaudy like she puts a lot of makeup on her face.

(King?) “Welcome, Heroes. I am Yvain Aureolin VII, the King of our kingdom. The Aureolin Kingdom in our world [Oracia].”

After introducing himself with a haughty matter, he announces the names of his family. The red-haired Queen is named Oblivia. The blonde haired man is the 1st Prince Darwin while the young lady is the eldest Princess Lapis.

I was intrigued when hearing the first and eldest of their names. It seems that this is not the rest of their family as the nobles behind them also give their introductions before switching to the main subject.

(Yvain) “As you all know, this is a different world and all of you were summoned here by our hero summoning ceremony. We seek your help in defeating the Demon King that invading our land!”

What with this cliche setting? Seriously, they're basically asking us regular high school students to fight in their war.

While I was thinking such a thing, the guys from our side start complaining as well.

(Junko) “Please don’t joke around! In the end, all you want is for these children to participate in a war! That kind of thing is absolutely out of question!”

Our social studies homeroom teacher, Junko Hoshino, was the first to protest the king. She is 25 years old woman who is very popular among the students and faculty members alike. She has shoulder length brown hair that is tied up in a bun and has a beautiful adult-like figure and face.

She has a gentle personality and cares about the students which she earns the respect from the male students and teachers. Soon after her shout, two girls join in the protest, Nagi Aoyama and Rin Ogawa.

(Nagi) “Hoshino-sensei is right! This is clearly act of kidnapping! We demand to be sent back at once!”

(Rin) “Yeah~! If you know how to summon us, you must at least how to send us home right you dickheads!”

(Shion) “R-Rin? I don’t think you should call them that. They are starting to become angry.”

Both girls immediately give out their complaints when the third girl, Shion Shingetsu, calms her best friend down.

Nagi Aoyama is the chairman of the public moral committee of our school. She is a bespectacled beauty with black Natural Bob hair and a slender figure. She is known throughout the school for being serious and hard working, but she has many friends and is generally well regarded by her peers. She was feared by delinquents and slackers as they tried to avoid her.

Rin Ogawa is a petite with a gyaru look and the class mascot. She tanned her skin and dye her shaggy hair in blue since she thinks it is cool. She has a lively personality and talks in a weird way sometimes which earns her role. Although she wears flashy clothing and acts perverted like a dirty old man, she is still a virgin.

Shion Shingetsu is a shy girl and Rin Ogawa’s best friend. She has short black hair which her bangs cover her eyes and it is slightly taller than her friend. She loves books and gives off the feel of a stereotypical librarian. As a matter of fact, she was in the library committee.

(Student boy #1) “That’s right! It’s impossible for us to do such a thing!”

(Student girl #1) “Can’t you just let us return quickly!?”

(Student boy #2) “You're asking the impossible! Send us home!”

The rest of the class joined in the argument which the nobles and knight look at them in contempt. Suddenly, the man standing next to the king who is the Minister speak out his words which causes all of us become shocked.

(Minister) “We’ve understood how you’re all feeling. However… It is impossible for you lot to return now.”

(Junko) “What?! Why is that?!”

(Minister) “Because we’ve only recently discovered the Otherworld Summoning Magic method deep in the ancient ruins of the Demon Country. We don’t have any magic that will return you to your world.”

(Junko) “T-That is…”

(Student boy #3) “No way…?!”

(Student girl #2) “You mean that we can’t go home?”

(Student girl #3) “Why, why, why……”

Hoshino-sensei is disbelief at this while the girls behind her are stupefied too. Several students began to panic while others are feeling the despair over their predicament.

I was shocked by this as well, but I immediately regain composure when I noticed something strange in their words.

If they don’t have a way of sending us back, then that means they gone ahead of summoning us anyway. This pattern is also like the one from the light novels as I have a feeling that they don’t intend to send us back home at all.

I saw that they don’t intend to calm us down as they look at us nonchalant until Hikaru Itsuki shouts out which draws the attention of the class.

(Hikaru) “Calm down, everyone! I know you are all distraught, but there’s no reason to blame these people! They did this to ask for help so I decided to join the fight!”

Are you serious?! These people just summoned us without the consent of our safety!

While I complained to him in silent, the idiot ikeman talks to the king before any of us have a chance to rebuke him.

(Hikaru) “Your Majesty, can you tell us the current status of this world?”

(Yvain) “Certainly, my Hero. Our kingdom’s situation is temporary safe for now, but I fear that won’t be for long soon.”

The king explained to us that the war between the Humans and Demons have been ongoing for several centuries. The Demon’s strength are more powerful than any Human can possess. Their invasion has stopped three years ago, but lately, they heard rumors that the Demon’s forces are increasing their strengths over the years.

In fear of that, they decided to use Otherworld Summoning Magic method to summon people from a different world. History tells there’s already a case like this happened in the past and the summoned people possess powers that are several times to a few dozen times more powerful than the people of their world.

(Hikaru) “You said that you found the summoning magic from the ruins in the Demon’s country. Is it possible that there’s another magic in that place that can send us home?”

(Yvain) “Yes, it might be possible.”

(Hikaru) “If that’s the case, then let’s do it! Come on, everyone! We have the power to fight and save these people from their demise! Also, if we invaded the Demon’s country, we might find the way to get back home! Two birds with one stone!”

Hikaru clenched his fist tightly as he made this kind of declaration, while pointlessly exposing shiny teeth. I held my head in irritation of his act.

He’s acting just like those ikemen characters from the mangas and anime. They blindly believe in the words of the king without any doubt and force everyone to join the quest. Although Hikaru’s sense of justice is indiscriminately strong, I think his desire to become a hero is much stronger.

I think of this as I saw two people agree with Hikaru’s choice.

(Daiki) “If you’re doing it, then so can I. After all, friends help each other, right?”

(Aki) “Yeah. Although I’m a bit scared, if Daiki agrees, then I’ll join too!”

(Hikaru) “Daiki… Aki…”

His best male friend, Daiki Satou, and his girlfriend, Aki Sakai, give their consents. Those two are also part of the popular group as Daiki is the ace of his baseball team while Aki is the ace of the swimming club.

Daiki Satou is a tall teen with short spiky black hair and robust body from his baseball activities. Although he is not handsome as his friend, he is still popular among the students as his skills have lead the team into the national league.

Aki Sakai is a pretty young girl with a slender figure and long wavy black hair. Her looks are a bit inferior to Kiyoko and Mariko, but her swimming skills are a top notch that some students calls her the “Mermaid Princess.”

I heard that those two have been going out recently. Daiki makes a confession first which Aki immediately agrees as she gives her goodwill towards him. Both are a well-known couple for now.

(Mariko) “Huh… I have a feeling you would say that. I will join as well. Someone needs to watch over you.”

(Kiyoko) “U-Um, if Mariko-chan is going, then I’ll try my best.”

(Hikaru) “Mariko… Kiyoko…”

Seeing his two childhood friends give their consents as well, Hikaru feel a touch of his friend’s support. After looking at the agreement of the popular group, the rest of the classmates also expressed their approval and went with the flow, even the three girls reluctantly agreeing as well. Hoshino-sensei’s eyes are getting teared up upon seeing her refusal is pointless now while the royal family and nobles are satisfied with the results.

However, I didn’t join their cheering as I think about this suspicious situation. When Hikaru questions the king, he only tells us that his kingdom is safe, but didn’t tell us that the rest of the Human country. Also, there have been signs of the previous summoned heroes, but none of them mentioned that they’ve already gone back to their world.

When I heard that the class agreeing to participle, I frowned at their behavior. The students didn’t seem to truly understand what it meant to go to war. It might be their means to escape reality and prevent their minds from breaking apart.

However, war is not a something to take lightly of. I remember my first time going to the Kosovo War with my uncle Nemo once, and I’ve never wanted to go through that tragic event again. Over there is a ton of death waiting at every corner. No petty justice or good intentions can ever justify war as only the smell of blood and cold metal lingers. This is no joke. Also, if we managed to defeat the Demon King, we might be used as political pawns to conquer other countries. I will not be used as a tool for their own gain.

Although even I say that, I have no influence over the class as most of them don’t like me. I bet they won’t even listening to me and will think me as a coward so I refrain from telling them. I only hoped that they realized the consequences of their choices as I make a plan to escape from here.

After the class voice their agreement to subdue the Demon King, we requested training to get stronger. After all, we are just normal high school students without any experiences in combat earlier.

The king and the nobles are agreeing to their demands as they expected and decided to start training tomorrow after today. Later, each of us is given a blank silver plate. We are curious about it as the head priest, Yulyana, explain this item to us.

(Yulyana) “These plates are called the Status Cards. As the name implies, these plates will show your status in numerical value. It is the most reliable identity card. As long as you have this, it doesn’t matter even if you become a lost child. All you need to do is drip a drop of your blood on it and the card will display your status permanently. This will show what kind of class all of you have.”

(Hikaru) “Class?”

(Yulyana) “The class system is what given us from ancient times to combat the Demons and help our society grow. Each Class will determine your strengths and weakness.”

All of the students nodded at his words in understanding as we start the process. I pierced my thumb with the needle and smear my blood on it as the card shines a little before dimming down. Praying that I don’t have weak skills like the templates, I peek at my status and this is the result from the surface.
