"So this is the first floor!" Karo muttered under his breath, stepping through a corridor. He was hit with the large scene of a huge arena, with rows of bleachers and seats surrounding it. At the bottom stage were several different fighting stages, where separate individual fights were going on. Occasionally the crowd would burst into a loud roar of cheers for a new winner.
"Number 2261, go up to stage 3 to face #2201 please!" A voice boomed through the speakers, perking Karo's attention. He grinned, as he was number 2261. He strolled down to the main stage, going to the fighting stage marked with a large and bold 3.
"Let's see who my fighter is." Karo climbed the steps into the medium sized-stage, where he saw his opponent and the referee.
The referee wore the bright red employee outfit with a gloved punch in the center. As he looked at Karo he broke an amused smile; he wanted to see what surprise the boy would bring.
Karo's eyes, however, were scanning over his bulky opponent. Most likely a kind of powerlifter, his whole body was swelled and red like a tomato, with a long dragon tattoo across his right arm. Seeing the relatively plain and simply dressed Karo, he broke out into a mocking laugh.
"Who brought a kid here? C'mon ref, I don't even think he's shaved before!" Number 2201 looked over at the referee, thinking he would cancel the fight immediately.
"Don't underestimate anyone here - this is Heaven's Arena after all!" The referee didn't have any intention of doing so, lifting his hand to signal the start of the fight.
"No weapons and I want a clean fight, otherwise you may begin!" The referee swung his arm down, beginning the fight.

"Kiddo, you can't be serious! Ah, let me do your pops a favor and send you on your way!" The bulky and slightly overweight opponent took a step forward, raising his large meaty fist. He swung fiercely downwards, aiming to knock Karo away.
"Too sluggish!" Karo stood where he was, completely calm, fearless when it came to the incoming attack. Just when it seemed like that fist would hit him, he ducked dramatically - the oversized punch flying over him.
"Huh!?" Those in the crowd turned their attention to the fight, anticipating the expected beatdown of the youth. But as they saw him dodge the punch so effortlessly, they unexpectedly began to feel for Karo's opponent.
"Uppercut Swing!" Karo's leg muscles suddenly flexed, as he jumped upwards from his previous crouched position. His fist skyrocketed upwards along with his body, slamming into the bottom jaw of the overweight man's chin - shooting #2201's neck backward. And with that, Karo's opponent's eyes fluttered and closed - effectively knocked out.
"Thump!" #2201's body hit the stage with a large thump, completely the opposite of Karo's soft landing on his toes. A smile cracked on Karo's face, as he looked at his unconscious opponent on the floor.
"Complete win! Good job, sport!" The referee watched all of this with an expectant smile, he had a good feeling about this youth. He typed in some digits into his device, producing a white ticket with some info.
"Head to floor 50, there you'll find a little bit harder competition." All in the meanwhile, the observing crowd burst into a wild flurry of cheers.
"Who is that kid!? He's so strong!" All sorts of praise came from the crowd, but it quickly died down when another wonderous scene appeared in a nearby stage.

"Gahh..agh!" A martial artist was being held by the throat, suspended up in the air with his feet dangling below. The arm holding the martial artist was strong and muscular, with its veins bulging out as a testament to its strength.
This arm belonged to a locally infamous man named as Red Mountain Guro! He was unmistakable, with his flamboyant and outlandish spiked red hair and his flashy look. A wide grin was on Guro's face as he looked at his victim squirm and reach across his powerful arm.
"Let go of him!" The referee naturally wouldn't let this stand, stepping forward and separating the two. He shook his head at Guro and typed into his device, producing another ticket.
"Wow! That's the man known as Red Mountain Guro! I hear he has been training in the forests for years to hone his martial arts!" All types of rumors and cheers burst out from the crowd, though a large amount were unhappy with his cruel and brutish tactics.
But as Karo was watching this scene, Guro looked across stages and made eye contact. Guro, with a mocking smile, pointed at his now passed out victim and pointed at Karo.
He was claiming he would do the same to Karo! Karo saw this and only lightly chuckled, turning towards Guru.
He was getting excited for this Heaven's Arena!

Voidsong (A NaNoWriMo 2018 winner)
Synopsys: The Empire thought humanity died, and forgot all about it. The Empire is mistaken. A Note From the Author: This story was written as a National Novel Writing Month 2018 entrant. As such, its entire 50,000+ word length was written between November 1, 2018 and November 31, 2018. Overall, I would consider this no more than a polished draft. In that vein, the chapters have no names, only numbers. Special thanks to Chronus on youtube for answering my questions on NATO radio procedures! My Apologies to the Finnish Language, which I have abused in (probably) unforgivable ways to create Twisted Empire names. If anyone is interested, break the names up by commas and toss them into your favorite translation program (I used Google Translate, and tried to avoid umlauts and other accents) for some semi bilingual boni. If I got something wrong (and I know I did… somewhere…) let me know over on reddit and I will see what I can do to fix the mistake. Lyrics, where included, are cited in footnotes.

It is supposed to be relatively relaxed for the most part. Any constructive criticism is welcome. My updates will be slower than a snail and my chapters are relatively short so deal with it please and don't murder me. Romance should come in later. Thank you~
