《Of Life and Light》Chapter 26 [Ageless]

Nearly half a turn had passed when the children awoke from their slumber. Of which they did stretch greatly, resulting in the twins and hybrid to form a ball of fur, teeth, and claws. For they had softly struck one another in their desire for stretching their limbs and body. This, in turn, awoke Anasi greatly, as their rough and tumble shook the bed, which softly rattled his own bed of webbing upon the wall.
"Muu," he grumbled softly, jumping on top of the bed, a dozen centimetres away from the trio. There, he did cast his webs upon their body, which led to them yipping pitifully as they had become trapped within the sticky solution. "Why do you always do this?" he asked slowly, rubbing his right eyes as his mouth opened in a yawn, revealing four sharp canines which glimmered a pale green from the poisons hidden within.
"Morning Anasi," the trio mewed whilst swaying their tails slowly, as they each turned to stare upon their friend with widened eyes and enlarged pupils. To which the other sighs an pat their head slowly. Whereupon they did beam up at his person with great smiles.
However, the three were now stuck together, which meant they would be needing a bath. This did not dawn on the trio until after three scantily clad Elven women appeared and took them away. Whereas a fourth merely led the Arachne towards the dining hall, as he had expressed a desire to not be bathe at that time. On the other hand, when he was half a dozen, his face broke into a wide grin, as Nox's voice screamed out an echoing, "NO!"
It was due to the fact that the young hybrid disliked being bathed that he voiced his desires. Of which always entertained those who knew him best, especially Anasi, who would often times perform such tactics as before to send him directly towards the baths. In some cases it was accidental, but for the most part? They were on purpose.
"Good morning, Lord Ageless," he bowed low upon entering the dining room, of which the God King sat at the head of a long table where several dozens of parchment papers sat nearby and in his paws. For he had become his Kitsune self at some point during their slumber, and wore only a pair of crimson trousers.

"Good morning Anasi," his voice rumbled softly as his paws placed a parchment upon the table. There, he turned towards the child as he was gently deposited upon a high chair dedicated to keeping the young Arachne safe and secure as he ate. "You do understand it is not required of you to call my person by such a name, yes?"
"I know," sighed the child as a plate of meat and liquefied bug innards in a cup was placed before himself. Of which he frowned at the juice, not enjoying the sight, but drank it regardless. Afterwards, he did turn towards the only other being in the room of note, "I still prefer to call you Lord, Uncle."
To which the other grinned with a soft sigh, "Lord Uncle, huh? I guess you can call me as such."
Whereas the child simply sighed, returning to his meal just as the trio of his friends scampered into the dining hall. Their fur appeared much softer than before, and carried with it a shine as though they had been thoroughly scrubbed clean. Yes. They were, but cared little about this, only their aching bellies devoid of sustenance was what carried them forward. As they quickly gave their greetings to the God King, they did fall upon their own food the moment it was placed before their persons. All the while their tails wiggled greatly, and their voices full of yips and snarls.
"My, my," chuckled the Ageless, "Such an appetite you three have. Well, shall we continue the story at hand?" This inquiry caused all four children to pause in their meal, and stare at the one before them with widened eyes and nodding heads. "Very well. Then continue eating, and listen to these words of mine."

"There's a trail here, Master," Amira pointed towards something akin to a deer's trail, but was trampled by a stampede of several unknown beings that had flown past some time ago.
'Very good,' my mental voice hissed in her right ear, which caused her to giggle at the sensation whilst she rubbed it, 'Then let us go and track down whoever they may be.'

This led to us trekking through the foliage with Sisstra at the head, followed up by Amira, my person, and Brutus brining up the rear. Of course, the latter would cause quite a few to raise up their eyebrows due to his sexual preference, but no matter.
Now, this would take us until evening before we ran into anything of note. For our presence as Undead had caused the denizens of such a forest to flee, as we each contained an aura of death and despair. Of which was only amplified one hundred fold with my form that of a Devil King. For my presence alone would have been enough to cause all within one hundred kilometres to cower, but it was now concentrated down to half a kilometre around my person. Therefore, all who had not fled the scene in terror would surely fall into shock, yes?
Well, not entirely. For you see, my dear children, the aura of a Lich is one of death. Therefore, with it combined with my own would cause those who fell into shock to die and join my Lich's undead army forevermore. Which, in turn, caused the entirety of the forest to fall silent, the residents fleeing as far away as they could.
Of course, after the silence came what appeared to our senses to be a scuffle between persons unknown. This turned into us surging forward in order to determine who or what was fighting.
This, in turn, led us to viewing a wide clearing of approximately ten and four metres in diametre. Within such a place, however, were the bodies of dead and dying Beastfolk. Each of whom appeared to be of Tiger and Jaguar decent. Of which were also joined by several fallen Humans, but there appeared to be more alive than dead. These ones wore armours made of iron plate and chain, whereas the others wore simple leathers or loincloths.
However, it appeared to our eyes that the males of the group were dead or dying, as the females were slowly being corralled by the Humans still alive. Of course, these were frightened by the Humans, of whom appeared to desire their bodies more than their lives. Yes. They knew what this meant for them, as a few chose to fight as opposed to falling into such depravities as that.
Yes. These were also struck down, but not as many would like to believe. No. These would have been treated enough to remain alive, then fall into despair as their bodies were ravaged by the very captors who struck them down.
As for the rest of the males? They were in a desperate battle against those who viewed them as nothing more than animals with pointed sticks and sharpened claws. Of which is somewhat true, as their weapons were only sharpened to points without stone or iron points.
"Master?" whined Amira, desiring to be amongst the fight, and even wiggled her hips as though suffering from a desire which caused her to become in heat.
'Slay the Humans,' my voice thundered in response, as my right, primary clawed hand pointed towards the battle before us, 'and bring one of them to my person. For I desire to know more about this world they call Second Earth.'
The trio gave off a cry of joy, as they charged towards the battle, all of them calling attention to the Humans as the illusions which clung to their bodies fell away. Thus revealing their true forms to the world.
I, on the other hand, took it upon my self to doctor those who were still living, and use my magicks to revive the dead. Of which caused quite a few to stare with widened eyes as a being which should not exist, to become quite frightened. One part was from the magicks I wielded with ease, the other was of the aura I held about my person. For it was still concentrated, but those who were affected by my energies did not need fear from it any longer. Which meant that they were deemed as my allies, or rather, my new servants.

Rooms of the Desolate
Rooms of the Desolate is a collection of short stories designed to guide the reader through the many rooms and mysteries of the bleak and greyscale labyrinth of the Desolate. The first entry, "The Forever Tower" follows an unnamed wanderer climbing an endless, colourless tower; the only world they have ever known. As they slowly ascend alongside the masses, they consider the nature of their world and look to the corridors as temptation beckons. The second entry, "Production Line", follows an engineer in a boundless factory, who encounters a product that does not wish to bow to the overseers and makes them question their belief in the truth and duties they were made to believe. Content guidelines: Current entries do not include explicit profanity, but future entries may do so, hence the presence of that tag. Some entries do include gore and violence, though not currently to particularly extreme degrees. The Desolate is exactly that: a desolate world; as such, it is bleak, downtrodden, and may deal with mental struggles. Cover art credit: Adam Borkowski on Pexels.
