《Of Life and Light》Chapter 33 [Sarah]

As soon as Brutus spoke such words, he did turn around to find nearly everyone palming their faces whilst they shook their heads. Even the skeletal Undying were performing such an action, and they hardly responded to much of anything beyond orders and the presences of one another. Whereas their Lord merely sighed at such an outburst, then desired for they to retrieve the Human as they journeyed onwards towards the Hub.
Once they had retrieved their newest companion from a tall tree, one which was wide enough for him to leave a full body imprint upon its surface, did Karastak hold aloft his right palm high into the air. ">," he intoned, causing a white spell circle to appear beneath their feet. Of which quickly engulfed their persons, removing themselves from their place upon Azzarath, and depositing themselves upon another spell circle. One that had a bored Minotaur waving them to leave.
However, such a sight of Undead did not cross its feeble mind. That is, until after they, all twenty and one of them, removed themselves from the space and entered the Hub. Here, the creature performed what is known as a "double take". Which simply means that the creature glanced at them, looked away, and quickly looked back. When it looked back a second time, it saw only a collection of Beastfolk, Elves, and Humans following an older Human in a faded blue robe. This led to it snorting once, shaking its beastial head, and returning to its duties.
"That was close, Lord," whispered Sisstra slowly, "What would have happened if the Minotaur realised what it truly saw was what it saw in the beginning?"
"If it came down to it, Sisstra," began Karastak, whose eyes glimmered with a faint red light, "it would have ceased to be what it was, as would all others."
"I think he means he'd kill it, right?" chimed in the Mage, who was close enough to hear their conversation.
"Yes," drawled the other with an expression of boredom, "Your insight is amazing. Perhaps you should try Divination next, instead of Evocation, as it appears that is your true calling." A few of the Undying females snickered at this, as the whole moved towards a recently unoccupied box with a screen atop it.
However, as soon as they reached it, there appeared another group of Humans. Of whom did their best to be viewed as intimidating towards their own, and even a few had reached for their weapons. Due to this place being neutral ground, on the other hand, violence was not tolerated in the slightest. Which meant the coming of the Red Guard, a specialised group of individuals in crimson or bright red ware would appear in order to mitigate the damage. Mainly by smiting both parties with their weapons, whilst not receiving any sort of harm in return.

This group which appeared before their own wore smug expressions, as they rushed the one which appeared to be more of a feasible target for their desires. Of which was to cause enough of a disturbance where the Red Guard would be summoned once they were attacked. Therefore, they would cry foul and simply watch as the "offenders" were led away whilst they were treated with various magicks and supplies as recompense for their troubles.
Unfortunately for them, as one of their larger members with a great sword strapped to their back was about to mimick drawing out its sword in order to take a swing at the old Human, everyone noted that the head of such a brute went missing. For a time, the other group did not move, as they could not comprehend what had occurred. Their friend and companion, one who had conspired with them to enjoy the perks of being a "victim" was now dead.
One of their more living companions, of whom almost immediately sobered up after witnessing such a spectacle, grinned. This one had the outfit befitting a scout or archer, as told by the leathers upon its person. Within its mind, on the other hand, was several schemes running through its feeble mind. Of which meant they would gain much with the death of their companion, and they might even be given front row seats when they watch the one who slew the other as they, in turn, are slain.
What this one did not understand about the situation it was now in, was that as the Red Guard fell upon this other group of twenty and three individuals, the guards found their numbers thinning greatly. Such was the strength of this group, which even the audience which had come to see such spectacle were beginning to flee for their lives. For if a group such as they could indeed butcher the guards, then what hope do they have if even one of their number accidentally offends them?
This, in turn, began a stampede as much of the Hub rushed to escape the sight of blood, innards, and stained armaments which had become an even darker shade of red. Whereas the one who schemed against Karastak and his group awoke to find itself standing alone in this section of the Hub, as a pool of blood from many a dozen Red Guard and its own companions soon soaked its own leathered boots. Of whom became fearful, and turned to leave, only to find ten burly Humans before itself. Each of these Humans, by the by, wore a pair of tanned linen trousers and not much else. However, they also carried a lit torch of emerald flames in their left hands, which were carried high above as though being a beacon to others.

"W-what?" stuttered the scout, not comprehending the danger it was in, as it backed away from the Humans and their torches. It was here that the being noted that each of their features were the same. Bulky muscles, a bald, squared shaped head, a beak-like nose, cleft chin, and no eyes.
Yes. The eyes were missing, as their lids had been closed when they approached the oblivious scout, then opened once they were in place. Of which startled the other enough that it did try to scurry away, but fell in front of an old Human wearing a faded blue robe. One that was also standing in the rapidly cooling blood, but it appeared to everyone that none of it touched his person nor the robe.
Quite strange, to be sure, but the other did not have time to wonder such a thing. Instead, it was lifted high in the air by way of an unknown force, which then caused its head to come in contact with the old Human's outstretched right hand. The scout was then gripped with enough strength that it felt the strain of its skull under such a hand, as energies around their person swirled the blood below them.
'Below?' the scout thought slowly, but that was its last, unfortunately. For three streams of lightning, the colour of blood, emeralds, and sapphires, raced down Karastak's right shoulder, his arm and hand. After such a short trip, it did leap into the captive's mind, causing it to scream and writhe as it felt everything being pulled away.

"My Lord God?" called out Brutus, as he watched the other slowly descend towards their position away from the blood pool. Of which was quickly disappearing, as were the bodies, by unknown means. Yes. The group was rather curious, except for Melephas who found such a sight boring. That is, except for the short lived battle where he was able to fire off a bolt of lightning towards the Red Guard, but it was deflected as expected.
"My Lord God?" called out the Lich once more, as the other drifted towards that which was called a "Terminal" from Melephas, and hovered around such a thing when the illusory Elf approached his person, "Is everything alright?"
"Everything is as it should be for the time being, Brutus," came his reply. However, he did pause for a moment in order to sigh and stare up at the other, "All of this fighting reminds my person how much I miss our world of Terra. All of this," his hand spread out across a partly deserted Hub, then returned to the item before him, "only furthers to remind my mind of such a time. One where we had enjoyment of slaughtering Humans, but now? Now there is little which could assuage this longing for a home."
"We can always start anew," chimed in Shauu softly. Of whom appeared behind the pair without a word, and hugged her God from behind, causing the other to rest his illusory head against her left arm for a moment.
"Yes," replied Rojaahn as he and the others approached their persons, pushing Melephas away as he was not a part of their circle, "but it would not be Terra."
"No," sighed the Fallen God of Terra, "Nothing will replace our home, but we must try to find a new one. So, Rojaahn, find us a new world with which we can call it Home." His left hand pointed towards the terminal, one which showed a slew of worlds with letter and number grades attached to them. However, at this point, he did not care which one was chosen, so long as one was.

World Step (Rewrite)
This is a rewrite of my story World Step. Though, in reality, this is my first serious draft. The shadows grow deeper on the planet of Whorrl even as a dark, and ancient ritual takes place within the depths of The Abyssal Mouth—a chasm of both fortune and calamity. The story follows Quintin, a Grandmaster Martial Artist from Earth, as unforeseen elements conspire against him from the depths of space. *No Harem *Strong MC, but by no means does he go through enemies without injury or at least learning something. *Throw on [Horror], and possibly [Psychological] elements. *Dark Fantasy with some [Grimdark] leanings. Notes: this will be a place where I endeavor to rewrite and fix issues. With that in mind, expect revisions, edits, and other things of that nature.
